FIFTEEN
KELLER'S P.O.V
I looked over to see how Parker's plan was going, only to see him fighting Darkness. I wondered how their conversation had taken such a turn. Now, I could tell that he was throwing everything he had at her all at once. Also, that he wouldn't be able to keep it up for much longer.
Then he looked at me with terror and determination. I had never seen him look this way. He had always either been happy, mad, or sad. He never seemed to be completely terrified, which was what always made me think that if he could be brave, then I could too. Sure, he had been scared sometimes, but never like this.
The look on his face now made it seem like he thought he was going to die. Just the thought of that made my heart break. I couldn't lose him, he means too much to me. So, now I remembered that I made a promise to myself that I would protect him.
"Darkness." I yelled, forcing her attention on me.
Her eyes turned to me, causing her to realize she had been tricked.
"Nooooo!" She screamed upon the sight of my friends and I.
Then she turned her attention back to Parker.
"Your time will come another day."
"Wha-" He started, but it was too late.
She threw him in to the air without hesitation, turning her attention to us instead.
"Parker!" I screamed.
"There are more important things to focus on than him." Darkness sneered, her words like venom.
"Yeah, like defeating you." Katie replied from behind me.
"Katie's right. We can do this if we stick together." I encouraged.
Right after I said that, Darkness's chilled laughter echoed.
"You really think it's going to be easy to defeat me? I have waited my whole life for this moment. I've waited for a chance to get my revenge on you ungrateful fairies. While you were here enjoying life, people like me were cast away like animals to the Dark Realm. You can't even begin to imagine how mad that made me."
It was these words that made me realize she was telling the truth. She really was just misunderstood.
"I never knew you felt that way." I stated, my voice calm.
"It's too late for sympathy now. The events that have happened, have led up to this very moment."
Then, I felt myself being pulled to ground and knew that this could be the end. I tried so hard to fight back, but she was just too strong. Her powers held my friends and I in place kneeling on the ground.
In this moment I felt weak. We had gotten too far to give up, but here we were helpless. Then I remembered my plan. If my friends and I could focus our powers on her necklace, then we could win. But that was a pretty big if, considering right now we can't even move.
That doesn't mean we can't try. All of a sudden, everything seemed to go by in a blur. I watched Parker slam his body in to Darkness, knocking her to the ground. This released her control over us, giving us a chance.
"Quick grab hands!" I yelled to my friends.
They did as I told them to, us all being united as one.
"Fire." Katrina stated.
"Earth." Natalie claimed.
"Water." Brianna said.
"Wind." Katie stated.
"Ice." Sarah said.
"Infinity." I cried.
It was in this moment, that I knew these were my true friends. We all stuck together through this whole battle, and now we are going to end it together. As we concentrated our powers on her necklace, everything else seemed to fade away.
"Nooooooooo!" Darkness screamed, only becoming a faint echo.
I almost couldn't believe that we won, it seeming so unreal that it was all over. The world of Fairyland slowly returned to normal all around us, revealing that we had been standing in a flower field all along. I walked over to the space Darkness had been standing in. All that remained was her necklace, a black heart on a chain.
I would have thought that we had destroyed it, but I guess darkness can never truly be destroyed. I looked at all my friends as I held the necklace in the palm of my hand. We were all okay. But it seemed that I spoke these words too soon.
"K-Keller." Parker cried, falling to the ground in pain.
