EIGHT
KELLER' S P.O.V
After everything that happened, I still had one more task to do. Sneak back in to my house. Which wouldn't be too hard, considering how careless my parents are. Parker and I walked with each other for awhile, until we reached his house.
"Are you sure you don't want me to walk you home?" He asks sweetly.
"Yeah, I'm sure. Besides, if I get caught trying to sneak back in I don't want you to get in trouble too." I state.
"Well alright, be careful."
"Goodbye Parker."
Then I lean in, placing my lips on his cheek lightly, feeling a smile spread across his features.
"G-Goodbye." He stutters in reply, shocked by my actions.
Then I walk away, blending in with the shadows. Now, all I have to do is sneak in to my house.
When I reach my house, I cautiously approach my bedroom window, and start climbing. Soon, I'm inside my room safe and sound. I sigh with relief, laying down on my bed.
All of sudden, I hear footsteps outside my room remembering in shock that I'm supposed to be asleep. I quickly get dressed for the night, practically leaping in to my bed. Immediately after, the door seems to swing open. But then it closes, and I open my eyes again.
The only thing that is going through my head at this moment is the Prophecy. I still can't believe that my friends and I are supposed to stop this darkness that is rising. Then, I remember that Parker isn't a part of the Prophecy.
The thought scares me that he could get hurt in the midst of this. But, I'm also very confused of when all this is going to happen. I can assume that it will happen soon, but I can never be too sure. All I know is that darkness is rising, and my friends and I have to stop it.
I fall asleep, these thoughts still on my mind. As I fall asleep pictures form in my head, forming all my fears in to a nightmare.
I lay on a cold floor, a blinding light shining down on me from above. I attempt to stand, only to realize I can't move around very much. All I can do is resume a sitting position, an invisible box seeming to trap me in this position. Then, I look around, spotting a familiar face. Parker. But something is wrong.
His eyes aren't happy, they are glistening with tears. He also looks like he's screaming something, but I can't hear him. Then something knocks him to the ground, this making scream from within the box.
Suddenly, I am no longer trapped in the box. As soon as I realize this, I race to him. He lays on the cold floor, barely holding on to life. This sight is a pain for me to watch, his pain making me want to look away.
Then, as I look at him his eyes avert towards me. He grabs my wrist, beginning to choke out words.
"I told her to stop hurting you." He starts. "But then she started hurting me."
"Parker, who started hurting me? Who!" I ask frantically, tears starting to well up in my eyes. "Just hold on, alright?"
"I'm sorry." He cries.
Deep sobs then erupt from him, making me start to cry as well. Then they suddenly stop, the room that was once filled with sound now silent. I look down in to his eyes, seeing nothing but emptiness. I hold his body close to me, cradling him in my arms while tears pour out of my eyes.
"Please...don't...leave...me!" I scream, ripping my throat raw.
Then it all fades away, bringing me back to reality.
I wake up, startled from my nightmare. Soon after, tears come pouring out of my eyes. What I realize saddens me even more. Parker and I can never be together, as long as there is possible danger we can't be together.
He could get hurt, and I don't want that to happen. I'm doing what is best, for the both of us. If I can keep him safe and maybe even save his life, then I'll do whatever it takes. Love is a hard game to play, sometimes you win, and sometimes you lose.
