Author's Note
Did you know that this entire book used to be what was supposed to be Part 4 of Departed? They were actually supposed to be in the same novel. Prophecy became its own ordeal when one: I figured switching to an entirely new cast of characters would be a bit jarring in the middle of a book, and two: these stories grow bigger the more I plan them out. Thus, Prophecy became its own entity.
Prophecy was also an experiment in other ways... but you didn't come here to read me sentimentally reflect on this book. I can do that in the acknowledgements.
Welcome to the madness!
Thank you, to all you readers, for stopping by and I hope you enjoy the book that you're about to read. I both loved and despised the first draft, so the draft I post here is going to be a wild ride! Before you start reading, however, I must give out a few disclaimers/words of warning.
1. You do not have to have read 'Departed' in order for this book to make sense.
That's right! Prophecy can act as a standalone novel, so if you want to go ahead an check it out without reading the massively long first book, be my guest! However, if you want to read the series in order, I'll list the books below.
Book 1: Departed (full length novel)
Book 1.5: How I Met You (five oneshots)
Book 2: Prophecy (full length novel)
I've also written a bit of a recap if you want a shortcut through Books 1 & 1.5 --> https://www.wattpad.com/1180870683-departed-shenanigans-100-follower-special-timeline
2: This book is not rated G.
I do my best to write as cleanly as possible, but my characters do get into a few sticky situations at times. There will be no language, however, there will be a bit of blood, gore, character deaths, psychological trauma, etc. Think of this book as a cleaner YA fanfiction.
3: The first draft of this book was started before s13 was released.
This book is meant to take place several years after the events of the show and is supposed to be set in the canonverse. These two things can cause some trouble for anyone reading from the future. On the day this Author's Note becomes public, s14 (Seabound) is the most recent season to be released, and I've barely seen any of that. If my book lacks references to seasons that came afterward, that is the reason why.
4: This is a next generation story.
I know it's hard to follow a completely new cast of characters, especially when you're fond of the old ones. Thus, I want to thank you all ahead of time for giving this story a shot; I tried my best to keep the main cast diverse and interesting, while also telling a proper sequel. My hope is that you will come to love the next-gens as much as I do.
I sincerely hope the edited mess lives up to my writing in Departed, and that you all find this a worthy sequel. I guess I'll just have to post some chapters and see. Thanks for stopping by to read, and I hope you all enjoy the story!
