I've listed the other two parts to the Kailor AU below. Think of it as a high school AU mixed with the show. :-)

"Just buy this one."

     "I can't buy that one, you colorblind doofus, because it doesn't match your magenta suit. Why in the world did you have to buy a magenta suit?!"

     "Hey, it was the only one I could afford, missy."

     "Literally NOTHING matches magenta!"

     "Blue matches magenta."

     "Then, why don't I wear this blue dress? You said it looked nice."

     "There is no way under the literal sun I will allow you to come to prom in blue. Everyone is going to think you're Nya wearing a wig."

     "I LOOK NOTHING LIKE NYA."

     "Still—"

     Nya sighed, wondering how much rubbing it took for her fingers to leave a permanent crease in her forehead. She had been at this dress shop for nearly an hour watching Kai and Skylor bicker over what Skylor was wearing to prom.

     Personally, Nya thought it was a terrible idea for her brother to buy a magenta suit, but she did understand it was the only one he could actually buy. Kai had spent the rest of this month's paycheck on cleaning out his car for Skylor. Nya hadn't even realized that was how much Kai adored her. Then again, she hadn't even known about her brother's girlfriend (?) until she caught him laughing at a text from Skylor in the middle of the night. It had been about three in the morning, and Nya had promptly thrown every stuffed carnival animal she could find at her brother so he would shut up.

     Her phone went off again; Jay was freaking out about the whole 'dress-shopping' ordeal. Skylor was working minimum wage at the Noodle House downtown, so she didn't exactly have a ton of money to drop on a prom dress. Thus, Kai took her to the mall to find an outfit. The problem was, Jay worked in a consignment store across the hall from the fancy dress store they were in. He'd have a meltdown if anyone saw where he was working, so Nya was forced to accompany her annoying brother just to make sure no one went near her boyfriend.

     "You know what, why don't I just buy you a nice suit, and we can try to return your magenta one to the store—"

     Kai got the magenta suit from the store where Jay was working right now. That would not do.

     "Heyo, peoples." Nya cut in, grabbing the nearest dress she could find off the hook. "This... er, yellow dress doesn't look so bad with magenta."

     Both Kai and Skylor stared at her.

     "It has sequins all over it." Skylor crinkled her perfect little nose.

     Nya frowned as Kai started to agree. It was annoying how her brother would switch from having a heated discourse with Skylor to backing her up in only a matter of seconds.

     "Look," Nya grabbed a pair of bright magenta gloves off a nearby shelf, shoving both them and the dress into Skylor's hands. "I've got fifty dollars saved up from my chore money, and I will literally give it all to you if can just make up your mind and get us out of here. I can only take so much of Kai's sappy eyes before I throw up."

     Skylor's grin turned mischievous as Kai went beet red.

     "No teasing." Nya cut in again, stepping in between the two. "No flirting, and for Ninjago's sake NO ARGUING. Just tell me whether you like the dress or not so we can go home."

     Skylor went to try it on. Nya didn't think either her or Kai particularly fans of the ostentatious glitter-bomb, but the price tag was pretty cheap, and Nya knew for a fact Skylor was about as stubborn as Kai when it came to accepting outside monetary help.

     After what felt like forever, the three exited the shop and finally started heading for the parking lot. Nya gave Jay, who was peeking behind one of the window mannequins, a thumbs up and followed the two teenagers out of the building.

     Finally, they were done shopping.

A/N

This passage is probably the shortest I've written so far, and I'm still tripling the wordcount lol. I think it's inevitable that I continue this little story, since I'm already excited for prom and exploring Jay's subplot. He works in a consignment store, which must be an entire adventure in itself.
