Kai rubbed the towel in his hair, trying to take out the last of the wet droplets from his morning shower. Today was the big day, and he had to make sure he was already half prepared when he came home from school.

He stooped down, grabbed ten bottles of different creams and concoctions from his 'skin care' drawer, and started to delicately rub each one into his skin. He needed seven different moisturizers to help hide his various calluses, two different scented prescription medications to help with any acne, and one big bottle of his favorite cologne. Kai had spent hours one day trying to find a cologne that didn't mess with Nya's allergies, and when he finally found it, he bought as much as his paycheck allowed him.

His fingers paused when they rubbed over a rather large bruise below his eye. It was fresh from the previous night, a symbol of his secret activity that needed to be covered up.

Kai and Nya got monthly paychecks, they just never mentioned where the money was coming from.

The only people who knew the true source of the money were his parents and the people he 'worked' with, and Kai intended to keep it that way. Skylor hadn't asked any questions yet, so for now, he was safe.

After applying concealer to cover up any scratches or scars, Kai reached down into his all-time favorite drawer.

     The hair drawer.

He took out the first bottle of gel, preparing to run a generous amount through his hair.

But, when he looked up in the mirror, he noticed something horribly wrong.

     His hair was jet black.

Kai let out a strangled yelp, grabbing the towel again to rub his head. He had assumed the dark color just came from where his hair was wet, but his morning routine left plenty of time for his hair to dry. When he reached up to finger his flawless locks, his fingers returned to his view without a speck of fluid on them.

     His hair was dry.

And it was still jet black.

     "NYAAAA!"

A burst of giggles erupted down the hall as Kai burst out of the bathroom. He slammed open the door to his and Nya's bedroom to find her on top of their bunk bed laughing her head off.

"NYA YOU LITTLE—" Kai cut himself off—his parents were still home—and pressed his hands together. "Were you the one who put hair dye in my shampoo?"

"Oopsies," Nya grinned at him from upside down. "I guess I 'accidentally' spilled some."

"Do you realize what night it is?" Kai growled through gritted teeth.

Nya's smile grew bigger. "Oh, tonight? Tonight is the night I get revenge on you for your perilous pranks on Jay and me last prom."

"That was a year ago!" Kai insisted, not sure whether he wanted to punch something or sob because his gorgeous hair was ruined. "It doesn't matter anymore."

Nya shook her head. "You ruined my prom night—"

"You were too young to be in a relationship back then—"

"—so now I'm going to ruin yours." She shrugged, messing with her carnival prizes. "After this we'll call it even."

Her 'five-minutes-before-you-have-to-leave' alarm went off, and Nya jumped off the bed and made a beeline for the bathroom. Kai realized that since he had wasted his time being angry at Nya, he hadn't finished styling his hair. He groaned, mentally berating himself for ever forgetting Nya's threats a year ago.

He had only crashed Nya's private moments a few different times—waltzing in when her and Jay were getting food, sitting down next to them when they were eating, sending one of his football buddies in to ask Nya to dance—but that was only to make sure her and Jay didn't get into any trouble. He never meant for her to take such offense, nor did he ever mean to get caught up in her revenge plan.

Kai sighed, trying to style back his dark hair with whatever gel he still had left on his fingers.

Nya could have gone with any color, and she just had to pick one that didn't match his skin tone.

The day couldn't get much worse than this.

A/N

I knew this was going to happen and I did nothing to stop it. There is no pre-planned plot, no specific plan to where this little story is going. Somehow this went from an amusing prompt challenge to me giving updates to the Kailor AU every now and then. I'll try to be a bit more diverse next week. Though, if I'm not writing about then Kailor AU, then I'm pretty sure you can guess what universe the next prompt will take place in.

Make sure to check out therearenooptions to see her half!

See you all next week!
