3- The Hanged Man
Prompt: Suddenly, the hanged man started to speak.
Trigger Warning: Death, morbid descriptions
Having a shitty day, so here's a chapter since this is all I can focus on.
I take requests X
The children walked through the forest, desperate to see what everyone was gawking at.
A man.
A man in the forest who decided that today, or whenever he first did get here, that he would put a stop to things.
For so long, people just stood there, staring in both sorrow and disgust. The man had a bit of dried blood that had fallen from his mouth. His skin, a pale purple.
Such a poor hanging man.. one of the children had thought to themselves. Why would he do such a thing? another would ponder.
Where was this mans family, friends, or peers? Did he have any? Would they show up? Where they among this very crowd of people now? No.. no they most certainly weren't for weeping would surely be heard.
But there was no weeping.
People were giving their condolences to those around them, not knowing who's household he belonged to; quietly being told by others that they had no relation to him.
As the weeks past, the man was left there, just as he was before long ago. People started to forget about the hanged man.
Months past and most people couldn't even remember.
Years came and went and only one person remembered that day. One of the small children had remembered the hanging man. His pale chapped lips, and the scratch marks near his neck when he decided he wasn't ready to meet his fate yet. The unnatural skin tone, and unwashed hair, possibly a warning sign that he was slowly loosing himself.
They were the only person to remember, and in a small village such as theirs once news was forgotten; that was the end of it.
One day the young adult decided to go back to the forest to find the tree and lay some flowers on its roots. It was a way of saying a final goodbye to the memory, and to the poor man who had eternally stopped his from being made.
They came to a halt however, when they saw the hanging man still there. Untouched by decay, unmoved by any outside force. Confused, the young adult stepped closer, only to be grabbed by the hanging man.
Not a sound came from their mouth, not even a whimper. Surely it was the wind making his limbs move. They tried to move away, but they felt a firm grip on their lower back.
"Maintenant, maintenant chère.. pourquoi si inquiet? Vous ferez une belle reine cramoisie.." (Now, now dear .. why so worried? You will make a beautiful crimson queen..)
"Y- you're dead.. you can't possibly.... you're DEAD.."
"Reine cramoisie, ne vous inquiétez pas. Vous pouvez rendre le monde beau." (Crimson queen, don't worry. You can make the world beautiful.)
As the world seemed to fall with every scream, she was named the one and only; the Crimson Queen.
She picked up all the pieces that were left. She restored the world, and helped the people regain themselves..
"Eleinia..? It's breakfast time.."
Ah yes, to the canteen they go. She never killed them.. she saved those people. The Crimson Queen would help all who fell down to death. She would walk across a path of red roses, which were once white. The hanging man had said so.
Or maybe they were still in their own Wonderland..
I hope this was somewhat entertaining. I've hardly been able to focus on anything today due to a few overwhelming personal matters; so here is some creative frustration.
You'll notice I often talk about 'Wonderland' and in this short story; the Crimson Queen - obviously. While I'm not telling things exactly, I do have some hints in here to some music that I have recently been working on.
I believe in solipsism, meaning the theory that only the self exists, or can be proved to exist. I often refer to the word in my mind as 'Wonderland' and at times it is hard to differentiate the difference from there and here. Regardless, there's some information on my writing I suppose.
If it is true that all of this is imaginary, you all are some of the best people I have ever made up. X
(I realize that sounds odd.. my apologies)
