I'm a little late posting this contest (as I wanted to post it on January 1st) but I promised a prompt contest so here it is!

As with the last contest, there will be ranked winners (1st, 2nd, 3rd), BUT I'm making a change or two with this contest!

Choosing ONE of the prompts below per entry, submit your story by COMMENTING THE TITLE AND/OR BOOK YOUR STORY'S IN.

If your entry is in a book, state the chapter name AND name of the book so that I can find your entry.

• The man in my closet and the girl under my bed are scared too.

• In a world where emotions are considered drugs, your family has sat you down to talk about your addiction to joy.

(*Note: Joy can be substituted for any emotion you choose.)

• Legends said, Fox Woods was named for the foxes who lived there and sang in human voices.

• "The earth is littered with the ruins of empires that believed they were eternal."

(*Note: This doesn't have to be a part of dialogue/internal thoughts.)

Any stories between 500 to 3,000 words are accepted.

You will be allowed to enter up to 3 stories as usual, HOWEVER, if you are entering a story that is more than 2,000 words you may only enter up to two other stories that are 1,000 words or less.

The time I have to dedicate to these contests has begun to vary so I'd rather not have to read, say, three 3,000 word stories from one person.

This contest will be open for one month.

Start: Monday, January 6th

End: Monday, February 3rd

The 1st Place Winner receives:

- A promotion of your winning story (and/or book it's in) on my social media profiles

- Up to 5 chapters of a story of your choosing will be read by me
(Comments and votes are highly likely!)

- The winning story and/or the book it's in will be added to a reading list for prompt winners!

- (Optional) A graphic of a line or short excerpt from the winning story.
