What I absolutely loved about this book the most was how the author took a twist on the happy-go-lucky region of Johto. You can see for yourself the horrendous effects the foreign invaders brought upon the Johto region first hand. It's actually quite ironic how the kind and benevolent region quickly turned into a battlefield littered with gruesome corpses. Now, it's become a matter of life and death; every man for themselves—to those who had the fortune to even survive the initial attacks in the first place, that is—sort of situation.
What I also took deep admiration to was how Your_Last_Word was able to keep me, and many other readers, at the edge of their seats with every chapter. There always seemed to be something going on in every page. No chapters felt as if they were "fillers," and even the ones that were titled as such didn't even feel as if they were! The "fillers" were executed in a different perspective every time, and it was enjoyable to read through another characters interpretations of the events occurring around them. This, of course, gave the book a unique attribute that many authors, even the most experienced, struggle with today, and that is the pacing of the plot. This novel downright nailed it, and I don't compliment people on this often. Not too fast, nor too slow—it's stupendous!
Yes, there's spelling and grammatical errors littered throughout the fan fiction here and there, but not enough to deteriorate the novels initial worth. The rough transition from other softwares to Wattpad can always put a damper on a novel of any kind, without thorough search and keen eye. A visit to the GRA can help with those mistakes though.
I'd also to mention the characters They added that extra flare that the novel needed. The main character, Akio, isn't a strong, independent character by any means. He's cowardly and terrified, and he knows it as well as we do. He isn't one of those classic hero's—he's more realistic and relatable. Fate, a human girl, saves Akio from a near-death experience and claims to be rightful heir to Victorius' throne, but—even admitting to being one of Victorius blood—swears that she's on Akio's side; that she wants Victorius off of Johto soil just as much as he does.
Jasmine, previous gym leader, has become a survivor of chaos. Seeing the destruction around her, she becomes destructive herself, and shows her true ruthlessness to people that dare to oppose her. The drastic effects of the invasion around her.
[DETAILS]
Johto has fallen.
Taken over by invaders from Victorus, there was little time to discover the mysterious region's intentions, even less to defend from their attack. With the loss of several cities, as well as countless pokémon and their trainers, hope is running low.
That is especially true for Akio, a young boy who lived a peaceful life dancing with his sister Nori at the Ecruteak Theatre until he loses everything in an attack on the city. Akio is taken captive by the leader of Victorus: Prince Luck, who believes the boy can awaken what they refer to as the 'Radiant Pokémon'.
Discovering their plans to hunt and kill the pokémon, as well as him if he refuses to summon it, Akio seizes a chance to escape and flees. Soon after, he comes across a girl named Fate, a warrior who claims to be the rightful heir to Victorus's throne.
Seeking the same goal, they journey together, reuniting Battle-Legends, and chasing myths, as they seek a solution to end the conflict, all the while the shadow of Prince Luck, and his army looms over them.
As Fate's true motives and Akio's connection to the Radiant pokémon become clearer, the two find themselves fighting against stacked odds to save Johto, and Victorus, from an unwinnable war that both sides are pawns in.
