I spared a moment to look at mom for one last time, and waved. "See you later." instead of a goodbye.
She shared the same look and walked back whence she came.
I huffed and pushed the big doors open with all my strength, leaning to it on the process.
I took a big step forward and was met by the cold rustling wind.
This is it

|| Third person's POV ||
As soon as the snow crunched under her feet, Frisk immediately coiled her arms around her, desperate for warmth.
The winds blew harder and harder by the minute, causing her the shiver and chatter under her breath.
"Brrr! it sure is colder than I thought it would be."
She continued to walk ahead, trying her best to ignore the chilly ice brushing past her legs.
Momentarily, mounds of snow began to fall from the branches of the trees behind her pace. The sudden sounds of those falls alarming her to hurry because of the uneasy feeling she had.
She felt being watched from head to toe.
|| Frisk's POV ||
I have a bad feeling about this forest.
Everytime I take a step forward, I feel something unusual that makes me shudder, well, except the fact that its cold.
This one's different...
Abruptly, a small crack was heard behind me.
"W-who's t-there?"
I slowly turned about, my heart racing in fear but I saw nothing except for a broken twig.
Guess it just fell
I shrugged and continued my pace. I was about to take another step but a shadow slipped past the woods and caught me off guard.
Curiosity tinged me with interest.
I searched for the shadow, hoping it was just some animal or it was just my mind messing with me again.
How could Sans possibly live in a creepy place like this...?
On second thought, I though it was just Sans playing tricks on me, knowing his love for humor, he's likely to do something like this.
"S-sans...? Quit playing games on me will y-y-ya...?!" I called in a wavery voice, slight annoyance and fear gripping my words.
Silence
I gulped and continued walking slower than ever, my eyes darting anxiously everywhere.
"T-this isn't funny you know...?!"
Still troubling silence...
My hiking boots continued crunching under the snow until then I heard a rustle of branches behind the trees and a dark silhouette.
"Well, ok you got me! Haha!" I fake laughed, flailing my hands in the air in surrender.
Odd silence
I frowned.
This is getting way too far, I'm not buying this kind of prank.
'Calm down, it might've only been your imagination.' I reassured myself.
But I have a strong gut feeling that this is no joke of my mind.
He's not gonna earn a laugh from me once I knew he's really the culprit behind this.
I reached into my full height and sighed to bring up my courage.
"You better come out sooner or I'll be forced to-
Fast crunches of snow got louder and louder from behind me, more like someone running towards me.
Fear gripped me as I felt my adrenaline rushing.
"Maybe not." I gulped and started to run, like an athlete as my heart raced again.
Up ahead was a wooden bridge, I ran through it but my legs wobbled from the thin sheets of ice.
My eyes widened as I horribly slipped halfway.
"AAAAAaaaaaaH!" I screamed, clutching both my hands on the bridge's post right on time.
My heart raced as well as my thoughts, flowing rapidly of thinking a million horrible ways of how I'm supposed to die if I end up falling down.
Down...
Please frisk, don't you dare look down.
I closed my eyes tight shut, but I momentarily took a sneak, curious of what awaits me down.
Looking down took me a moment, but it almost seemed forever.
A deep pitch black abyss waited for me with the countless number of stalagmites threateningly pointing at me.
O H C R A P
"HELP!" I frantically shouted, like how every scared-to-death person would do.
Bit by bit, I felt my left hand's grip slipping from the post.
"HEEEEEEEEELP!!!" I screamed, my skin turning pale till my hand came down to 4--3 fingers and It slipped.
Not a second passed, A bony hand caught me and there loomed a skeleton figure.
"ya don't want to be left hanging, do you?" he said with a grin.
That voice...
"S-sans?" He hoisted me up with ease as I held onto his hand real tight.
I found my legs wobbling like jelly before I can even spare the time to take a quick glance at him.
He was taller than I expected, but not that tall.
He wore a blue plush hoodie, underneath was a plain white t-shirt. He also wore basketball shorts and pink slippers that matched it all.
His expression was indescribable because of the mixed emotions present on it.
"what are you doing here, kid? don't you know that this place is dange-"
I didn't know what came over me as I cut him off and I flung my arms around him.
I guess I was too scared.
He was taken aback and confused of my actions from that.
" uhh...ok...? you can l-let go now."
Covering up my flustered act, I shoved him a little too harsh from annoyance.
"Don't you sneak up on me like that!" I snapped.
"whoa geez, sorry kid, I-"
"You gave me a heart attack!" I accused, pointing my finger towards him.
My annoyance suddenly turned into slight anger, knowing for a moment there that he almost killed me.
"easy there, i didn't mean to scare you." he chuckled lightly, averting his gaze from the fury in my eyes.
"sides, I did saved your butt from falling so shouldn't you be thanking me?" he casually replied, making my anger ease from those words.
I felt totally embarrassed from that, especially the way I accused him.
Sighing, I scratched my head in embarrassment.
"Sorry...Guess I ruined our first meeting." I apologized meekly.
"nah, its ok. You made it quite memorable though ." he stifled a soft chuckle, turning the conversation away from awkwardness.
A smile found a way to spread across my lips and I stretched my hand willingly, thinking of making it up for my bad impression awhile ago.
"Nice to meet you, in the bones, Sans." I piped up enthusiastically.
"same goes for ya, in the flesh." he smirked, shaking it.
Suddenly, fart sounds erupted from his hand and it made him grin in satisfaction.
"hehe, the old whoopee cushion in the hand trick, knew this would come in handy." he joked, earning a soft giggle of amusement from me.
"Classic." I mumbled in between giggles.
I recoiled my hand back to shove it under my arms in sudden need for warmth when I realized how cold his hand has been to the touch.
He was startled, but he seemed to understand why I did so.
"so, what brings a chilly human like ya here all alone..?" he questioned, his gaze falling on to my shivering figure.
"I wasn't eggs-pecting you to come and visit so soon." he playfully said, earning yet another small smile from me.
"Well, Toriel granted my wish to roam the underground, so she packed me some stuff and guided me through the do-o-or-ra-achoooo!" I sniffled and rubbed my pudgy nose, interrupting my storytelling.
"gee, you look so pale kiddo.." he furrowed his nonexistent brows.
"last time I checked you were still lightly tanned."
I spread my now stiff cold hands.
I do look like a white ghost...
Should I be at least troubled about it?
It doesn't really bother me since I did look pale when I woke up from the hospital bed a week ago.
"say, why don't you use my hoodie for a while?" Sans slid it off with ease as he offered it to me willingly.
"Oh! no no no! I can manage the cold. Its no big problem, really."
The coldness started to make me feel numb, numb in a way that I'm pretty getting used to it.
"yeah.....no, I insist." he frowned, still offering his hoodie.
I was hesitant, though I said that I don't mind the cold weather. I might want to reconsider it due to the warm and cozy appearance of it.
But I don't want to be a burden to him, especially thinking that this was our first face-to-face meeting.
"I'm totally fine, ok. I'm not some old lady whose life is on the line." I chuckled lightly, shielding myself from the winds as I walked past him, showing that I can do it on my own.
"fine, then I guess I'll have to hug you till we get to Snowdin." he shrugged, suddenly appearing before me.
How-
My cheeks grew red from sudden realization.
"I'll take the hoodie! Thank you very much!" I scoffed, taking it as I hid my flushed yet annoyed face underneath, not reconsidering the decision
And I don't regret it.
Who knew that he could be a flirt?!
I didn't expect him of all people.
Sometimes it annoys me since they get to see my one and only weakness towards meeting people.
Embarrassment
He kept the smirk slowly growing onto his face but I sent him a death glare which made it fade into his usual permanent smile.
We both walked side by side as I hid myself deeper into the jacket, making it look like I was slowly getting consumed by it.
I would be lying if I did say I don't feel any less comfortable wrapped in it,
Because it surprisingly gave me enough warmth to slowly revert back to my lightly tanned skin color.
The warmth spread around me like someone sitting before a campfire and the smell didn't mind me at all.
I picked up a strong ketchup scent in it, especially by the pockets.
He seemed to like ketchup a lot, judging by the small red stains.
I was actually expecting for a scent of cigarettes or alcohol because its the common scent among the attires of men.
Still, I'm grateful I didn't smell any hint of cigar or alcohol because it makes me believe that he isn't or isn't much of a drunkard.
"too comfy, are we?"
"Not really, but thanks." I lied.
"so, do you still want a hug?"
"N-no!!! T-this is more than e-e-enough!" I snapped.
He laughed as the hint of red sprawled into my cheeks from hearing what I just said.
I pressed my lips into a thin line, knowing better not to say much since I always slip a word badly in response when I'm flustered.
"ya know, it's alright. I've seen enough to know your that person to be easily embarrassed." he breathed in and started a casual talk, glancing at me while we walked.
"I'm not embarra-
"uh oh, Paps' comin'." he interrupted, narrowing his eye sockets to a tall silhouette slowly emerging from afar.
"Paps...? You mean Papyrus..? Your brother..? Why? What's the proble-
"long story, can you please do me a favor and hide behind that lamp." he instructed and I obeyed, still confused to why a lamp is standing in the middle of a snowy place.
"Sa-
"shh! Trust me." he whispered firmly, which held me back into hiding but not enough to let me take a peek of what's about to commence.
A tall skeleton, just around the height of Toriel, with a red scarf came into view as his bones clanked hard under his boots.
"OH MY GOD, SANS! I'VE BEEN LOOKING EVERYWHERE FOR YOU! YOU GOT ME WORRIED SICK."
"skeleton's don't get sick bro."
"NOT LITERALLY!" he groaned in annoyance, shoving his scarf rather fiercely around him.
His face of annoyance has abruptly ceased when he took a good look at his brother from head to toe.
"WAIT...WHERE'S YOUR JACKET...?" he asked, a bit demanding in concern.
Sans remained his calm composure and slouched, giving that lazy aura he always had along with his bored expressions.
"i threw it in the laundry this morning."
Papyrus looked doubtful but he waved it off easily after hearing his alibi.
"I SEE..."
"ANYWAYS, WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?! SHOULDN'T YOU BE ON HUMAN WATCH BACK AT YOUR STATION?!" he huffed, crossing his arms with a slight tap of his foot.
"welp, i got bored and saw this lamp, it's pretty nice, don't cha think?" Sans asked for his opinion calmly which to Papyrus' infuriation.
"NYEEEEEH!! QUIT WASTING TIME!"
Papyrus yelled, stomping angrily on the ground like a spoiled 7 year old on Christmas Eve.
Sans chuckled under his breath upon seeing his brother's childish nature.
"chill bro, don't worry i will do a skele-TON of work later, I'll make sure to KETCHUP. hehe." sans teased as his brother started to look pissed and agitated, obviously not pleased of his laid back response.
"SAAAAANS!! PLEASE STOP FOOLING AROUND!! STOP IT WITH THOSE PUNS OF YOURS!"
I stifled a soft giggle at the flow of their funny conversation.
I swear Sans' have heard it because it started to tick his sense of humor, pushing him to go on further and put on a show, seeming to be encouraged by an audience such as me to continue and run a show.
"wow paps, i RELISH the fact that you've MUSTARD the strength to KETCHUP on me like this." he winked.
"NGGGGGGHHH! SAAAANS!" Papyrus was starting to lose it, as he was fuming like a madman, quite enough to melt the snow around him.
"what? i know you love it coz your smiling.~" he emphasized the last word in a taunting manner which sent his brother to scoff.
His brother pretended to keep an unamused face yet it failed due to the annoyance he shows.
"YES, I KNOW! AND I HATE IT!!"
"WHY DO WE EVEN HAVE TO KEEP THIS PERMANENT SMILE?! IT'S NOT EVEN NECESSARY TO SMILE AT TIMES LIKE THIS." he questioned himself, muttering word by word. It almost sounded to me that he was questioning his skeleton trait and I found it quite hilarious.
"its in our bones so, I see no reason to question it."
I continued to watch and cautiously not reveal myself but I can't stop myself from holding back the giggles and the grins stretching on my lips as I hear their hilarious brotherly conversation.
"IS SOMEONE GIGGLING...?" Papyrus perked up, turning his gaze about.
I gulped, whipping back for concealment. My fingers got more and more jittery and nervous by the second as I attempted to hold a steady breath.
"oh...it was the lamp. That's one of Alphys' giggling lamps." Sans said, trying to sound convincing than ever.
His brother nodded in agreement, accepting Sans claims.
"OH, THAT'S STRANGE, I'VE NEVER HEARD OF IT BEFORE." he pondered, squinting a watchful eye to where my nervous self was.
Sans never lost his role and played it cool, approaching the lamp slowly as he attempted to flick the bulb like a broken piece of junk.
"actually, it's one of her new inventions, sadly, it didn't work out pretty well."
Papyrus spared him one last look before he fully accepted Sans terms.
"WELL, I'D BE OFF NOW!! GONNA GO ON WATCH FOR HUMANS!, BECAUSE I, THE GREAT PAPYRUS, WOULD CATCH ONE!! AND IM SURE OF IT, NYEHEHEH! SO LONG BROTHER!" papyrus walked away and started praising himself.
We both shared a sigh of relief after his voice was out of our reach.
"well, that didn't take long." sans casually said as I approached him.
"A giggling lamp....seriously?" I snickered,
"any better excuse, then?" he challenged.
I just shrugged.
"So he's your brother?" I blankly asked.
The thoughts and questions running in my head are doubtful of how are they brothers because I find it hard to believe due to the fact of seeing the large height gap comparing their ages.
But It's a bit rude to ask why and I know how it exactly felt to be judged by your height so, I just dismissed the question.
"yep"
"I see he's not a fan of your humor, no wonder why you knocked yourself out back there." I chuckled, proud of making another pun.
Now I bet Sans had already influenced me too much.
Way too much.
"i couldn't agree more." he grinned wider, as we continued walking side by side to Snowdin.
"Sorry about um..bothering you from your duties at work." I mumbled, interrupting the growing bland atmosphere.
"nope, its completely fine, 'sides, If i did do my job then you'd probably be interrogated by Paps by now."
"also, i see no particular reason to catch humans...well not anymore." his voice trailed off, driving me into puzzlement.
I furrowed my eyebrows in concern.
"and i'm not the right skeleton for the job."
"let's just say I'm too lazy to do anything." he brought in, chuckling lightly for cover.
I smiled, chuckling awkwardly alongside him.
There's obviously something wrong here...
He just avoids the topic.
Well, humans, about him and his parents.
Sans is hiding something but why would he..?
He may be comedic and humorous but I know that there's something more about him than meets the eye.
I sneezed out of the blue which caught him in a trance.
"boy, you really caught the chills right there, ey? Guess we'll have take a quick stop first at Grillby's" he added.
I simply nodded and covered my cheeks with the best of my ability to shield me from worsening the cold.
