★ Chapter 20: Behind the darkness ★
I have a weird feeling about this... I know there's something weird down the basement...I just can't picture it out. I gulped, tapping my feet on the cold floor.

After a little while, the elevator doors slide open, allowing the cold chilling air and mist slap my face. I walked out and searched for the glasses.
This place is creepy, acting as the place you see in horror movies, the colors on the painted walls looks washed away as some claw marks were on the walls. The green floor tiles were cracked and covered with dust.
I gulped walking around the dimly lit room. Luckily, I found a lit flashlight on the floor. I guess Alphys dropped it, I gently picked it up and held it high in the air, shoving the darkness away.
Broken machines and some loose wires were hanging in the ceiling as I walked down the hallway. "Where are those glasses?" I mumbled, looking down the
floor.
After walking around the scary rooms, the flashlight blinked a couple of times, then it flickered off. "Oh great." I muttered, trying to turn it on. "Its outta batteries." I groaned, walking helplessly around the pitch black room.
Momentarily, I heard the clanking noises again as they got louder and louder. I shivered, "w-who's t-there?" I said, darting my eyes everywhere as my voice echoed.
A blood curdling giggle echoed in response, I stiffened. "T-this i-isn't f-funny! S-show y-yourself!" I threatened, gritting my chattering teeth.
Cold air blew against me, giving me goosebumps. I shivered, dropping the flashlight on act. As the clanking stopped, two red pinpricks glowed in front of me.
~~Meanwhile, At the Hotdog 'n Cat stand~~
|| Sans' POV||
"here ya go" I smiled, handing the last hotcat to vulkin. "heh...i'm skele-tired" I sighed. Selling these goodies drains the power outta me, welp, we skeletons also need rest ya know and by rest I meant ketchup.
I grabbed the ketchup bottle I saved awhile ago and chugged the whole bottle down. "hmm I wonder what she's doin." I smiled, resting my chin on my right hand. Heh..ever since I saw her again, I can't remove her outta my mind.
She never changed, She's still the same sweet friend I met before. The same lovable attitude, the same cheerful face I'd seen. I grinned, pulling the buttercup out of my pocket.
I know she'd remember me, she promised, I promised, the reason why I never make promises is because of the fear I had. The fear that I kept within the years of being trapped here, fear that I might not come back to see her and the surface again, fear that I disappointed her to fulfill my promise.
Ive been hopeless, we've been hopeless, yet now, that she's here. She'd given us hope and faith to see the surface once again. She never failed to turn our frowns upside down, she always makes us happy, she makes me happy.
" 7:44 p.m." my watch read, "welp, paps might get worried, I better head home." I hopped off my seat and took the last ketchup bottle for a take out. I snapped my fingers to teleport home but it didn't work. Pain shot through my skull making me trip and lose my balance.
"ughh..." I groaned, leaning on my chair. I can't use my teleportation powers, I'll just take a walk, anyways, its been a long time since I took a walk around. After walking for a few minutes, I saw Al's lab towering before me.
Perfect, I can talk al about the problem. "sup al, I want to talk to you about.." I walked in to find her, hands on her head, shaking badly as she sat before her monitor screen. "al! Is everything alright?" I frantically asked rushing beside her.
"S-she's.....s-she's" she trembled, as sweat beads up her temples. I averted my gaze into the monitor to see frisk shaking in fear. "frisk!" I yelled, fists on the big screen. "where is she?! what's happening there?!" I asked, shaking alphys as my eye burned a menacing blue.
"S-she's d-down t-the l-lab...w-with c-c-ch-" she fidgeted, playing with her fingers. Without letting her finish. I rushed towards the elevator doors and pushed the buttons but it won't open. "dammit!" I yelled in frustration.
No, not her, not again, I don't want to lose her ever again. I banged my fists on the metal doors, leaving small dents. "S-sans! S-stop! I-its n-no u-use! F-flowey j-jammed t-the e-elevators s-shut!" Alphys yelled worriedly, as she approached me.
"no! we need to save her!" I yelled, banging my fists repeatedly. My powers! I snapped my fingers but nothing happened. "f***ing s**t!" I snapped them for a couple of times but it doesn't work.
I raised my right hand on the air to summon my blaster, but it failed. "S-sans p-please s-stop! Y-your s-straining y-yourself!" Alphys retorted, helping me up. I sat there on the floor, panting and sweating badly as my eye flickers on and off. All the emotions mixed in my mind, anger, fear and sadness.
"Please sans...she'll be alright...I hope so..but waiting is the least we can do." Alphys reassured, patting my back. I sat down, leaning on the wall, looking down, both hands on my head.
All the emotions are swirling around my head. But anger is taking in me the most. "IF YOU DARE HURT HER, I SWEAR, YOUR GONNA HAVE A VERY BAD TIME." I muttered, as my white pinpricks disappeared, glancing at the screen for a moment.
Alphys looked troubled for a moment, as she ate some noodles, watching the horrific scene in view. I averted my gaze and continued my sulking.
|| Frisk's POV ||
The lights flickered from above revealing the dark figure, brown bangs covered her face and a devious smile on her face a glinting sharp knife on her grasp.
"Aww, don't you wanna play hide and seek with your sister?" She giggled, that voice...could it be her?...Impossible... "C-chara?" My eyes widened in realization, as all the living daylights washed out of me.
