• Chapter 15: PARTY TIME! •

Time will come when this would all come to an end, and be nothing but a distant memory.

That's how everything works.

She comes, she leaves...

But I'm not letting them get to her and take this chance away.

It's time to help her jog up her memories soon.

just as I promised...

The night passed by sooner than expected as the patrons of the restaurant diminished in a shortwhile. But nonetheless, the regulars of the establishment remained, drinking their worries and happiness away.

Sans remained slumped in a corner, now lulled by the soothing music from the jukebox in the corner nearby Frisk. The pinpricks in his eye sockets approaching a dim blur as moments passed by.

Not long enough, Frisk started to hum a low melody while stroking the canine's fur, now resting on her lap.

It was a tune she thought that she had forgotten, but somehow, it was retained.

Hooked at the display, most of the patrons heard her sweet lullaby as the jazz music slowly died down.

Not until she jerked herself from feeling the drowsiness of her own lullaby, making her realize the attention she had caused from all the humming.

"Oh, sorry I didn't notice I was humming." Shyly averting her eyes away, Grillby took notice from the sudden stop.

Although he was very much eager to hear the rest of her voice, he wanted Sans to take the situation from then on.

With a smirk on his lips, he commended the girl.

"That's a nice tune you got there, you sing often?"

Frisk was flattered from the compliment since it came from someone she barely even knew. But despite the politeness that laced Grillby's voice, she remained humble- a pinch of pink rising from her cheeks.

"Not really, it's now but a faint memory to be honest."

A faint memory yet the melody still resides within her heart.

Grillby was having none of it, and he noticed the kind reply Frisk wanted to express. But he figured that she just needed a little push. At the same time, the restaurant could really use a live performance after so long.

As Frisk was about to rise up from her seat and let the dog plop down onto the next seat, Grillby waltzed his way towards his now sleeping amigo.

"What a shame...but I do admire such a lovely voice. ain't we, Sans?"

Nudging the blue form on his seat, Sans shot up, bewildered at the current scene but mostly ashamed for lazing off before the eyes that were warily watching him in his disheveled state.

The attention he was getting was something he wasn't used to and he didn't like it.

Expectant eyes were waiting for a reply from Sans and it put him on the edge. But nonetheless, he knew there was no escape, especially if Grillby was this pushy.

"w-well... i-i mean... it's not half b-bad." was the only words that escaped his mouth and he instantly regretted what he said as the smile on Grillby's lips ran from ear to ear.

"Hey, Frisk...Did you know that sans has a good singing voice?"

If Sans wasn't only a skeleton, he could've sworn that his complexion had grown paler from that question.

He had dealt with a lot of embarrassing situations in the past, but he was not used to this.

Scrunching up the ties of his hoodie, he slowly sank within his "happy place".

Now that Grillby put him on the spot, he clearly doesn't want to be involved in any of his shenanigans.

Sans glared and muttered curses at Grillby underneath his hoodie, now on the brink of annoyance and anxiousness.

Frisk gasped from surprise with a hint of bewilderment crossing her features. Sans was already interesting, in her opinion but this-

it made her curiosity for the skeleton peak even more.

"R-really??"

"Why of course! he's a natural!"

"Rightie! Sansy! Give us a song number~!" A drunk bunny overheard the commotion and snapped a chant alongside the other customers in the place.

Sans was hesitant, its not like he never had an audience this eager before. But with a new presence- Frisk was around.

It didn't settle right in his non-existent stomach.

In fact, he was embarrassed to show this side of his, a carefree skeleton amongst the crowd.

"it's pretty late and we should get going, ya know?" he reasoned with a soft chuckle to mask his way out of the commotion, his face now partly revealed from the hood.

The crowd was dismayed, but it did little to cease the scene.

Frisk, on the other hand, was just watching intently from her seat, her newfound interest peaking. She wanted to see the action and a little fun wouldn't hurt.

Now she can't help but question what holds him back despite knowing how utterly confident Sans appeared to be in her eyes.

Or so she thought.

"Aww cmon Sans! For us!" A cat-like monster shouted along with the chorus of cheers.

"No" huffing, he was close enough to take his leave.

"Why not? 'ya afraid of our new audience for tonight?"

That was it, Grillby topped it with a taunt. And it took less than a moment for Sans to shoot a sickening glare in his way.

Frisk was soon to act, now the mediator of the brimming annoyance behind Sans' facade.

"Cmon sans! Before we head home, just one song! Please?" Her eyes bore into his and he knew that arguing isn't necessary for any of this.

Besides, this was Frisk. He can't say no to her.

With a frown, he rolled his eyes which was later replaced with a smile once Frisk's expression grew brighter.

"I'll join you if you'd like, don't worry"

Pulling a thumbs up, she ascended the makeshift stage and handed over the spare microphone to her partner.

Frisk and the crowd was waiting as she beckoned Sans with an encouraging warmth. She was still patient, thinking why Sans would pass on an opportunity like this.

Sans was still in the middle of debating whether or not to continue but to hell with it. He sniggered and clasped the microphone on his hands while Frisk hoisted him up with a little too much effort.

"Everyone! Give it up for sans and frisk!" Grillby exclaimed, making everyone all riled up as they gathered before the duo, chanting with expectant faces.

Sans was taken aback from the sudden surge of attention he was earning and it put him in the brink of swelling pride and anxiety. For a moment there, he was doubting his abilities to pull this off, especially now that Frisk was around. It was a whole new experience for him to say the least.

But Frisk, she looked like a different person onstage.

She was gleaming with enthusiasm, almost comparable to Papyrus, but not too quite.

Something about her aura caught Sans in a trance, and that particular feeling came rushing within his body like wildfire.

None ever made Sans feel these other than when Frisk was around, except Papyrus and Toriel, but this was entirely different.

This feeling made him yearn for moments like this. Seeing her this happy made him happy.

He wanted nothing more than make this moment last forever and replay it in his head whenever he can.

He never wanted to forget this feeling.

Or so he thought, he never really did forget his feelings for her.

He was falling for her again.

All those timelines ago may have taken a toll on him, but not his feelings for this girl.

And he willed everything, to make it stay that way.

With someone to protect, he had a newfound purpose to keep everything intact. Whether it's her memories, or his feelings.

"We dedicate this song to all of you! I hope you'll love it!" Frisk then leaned on Grillby's ear to utter the song choice.

Without another moment to loose, Grillby relayed the instruction to Blooky, the ghost dj, who was setting up the equipment he needed for the performance.

Frisk heard the song from Papyrus whenever he prepares to be off in the morning, and she took a particular liking to it.

If Papyrus has a decent singing voice, then what about Sans?

She would love to hear him sing the song since it seemed fit for a duet.

When Blooky was configuring the music adjustments and the lights, Frisk took occasional glances at Sans. He was in a flurry of emotions but Frisk tried to calm him down by reaching out to his free hand.

It apparently did the trick but the two were embarrassed to share eye contact and decided to break away with a wavered smile.

The lights started to dim the whole place as the rays of light were focused on the two, sealing them in place.

The audience were reduced to fall silent, now allowing the two to catch on the slow tune of the song.

Singing the first few lines of the song was effortless for Frisk, she dedicated the song to her by heart since opportunities like this are really hard to come by.

Clenching the microphone tighter, Sans was looking her way. He was awestruck and it made her jittery in the inside.

Sans on the other hand caught himself off the beat for a few seconds before his line. His gaze focused on to his partner and then to the crowd, mentally reminding himself not to blow this off.

With a swing of the microphone, Frisk was ready to liven things up. She ended her line with a sudden beat drop as lights flashed around the place, nearly blinding herself for a moment.

It was an uproar, as the whole place was full of partying faces. Everyone danced along with the beat as the two sang around the stage so as to engage the audience into their groove of a performance.

Sooner, more patrons came in and, boy was Grillby the happiest bundle of flames.

From around the corner, familiar faces appeared and jived into the fun. It was their friends.
