"I am a wild woman. It would take a warrior to tame my spirit."
―Nikki Rowe
Mary Jane's POV
I'm not your run-of-the-mill cheerleader, I hated cheerleading actually, but Erica wanted to do this together. I love my best friend! She's funny, beautiful, sometimes shy, and when I need it, she snaps me back into reality. It's going to be the best summer of our lives. I leave for Notre Dame in September, and she is going to Purdue. I'm sure we can visit each other throughout the school year. We can't allow a few hour's travel to interrupt our friendship.
I have no regrets about my life so far. High School was fun, but we have so many more memories to make in our future. I've never dated, not really wanting to waste my time with puppy love. I have too many things to accomplish, and most of all, I just want to be free, to have fun, and enjoy my family and friends.
My parents proved to me that true love does exist, and someday, I will have that with someone very special. Until then, this wild and crazy girl has vowed to keep my virtue intact. Sounds crazy, right? The wildest girl in school is a virgin? I'll do almost anything, but that!
I want that special love, no regrets that I didn't give my future husband the best gift possible. I know I'm a strange creature, and that's why I can't figure out why Chad hasn't taken my hints. Someone like Chad only wants one thing, and it's something this wild heart isn't willing to give away.
Erica and I are in my Jeep, it's Friday night, and I am ready to party. I can't wait to get this night started. There will probably be about 50 of us ready for the night that will mark our last summer before college. I can't wait to hear the music, god, I love music. I love feeling the vibrations run through my body. I actually think I love all music, but in these parts, we usually listen to Country Music; it makes me feel free and calm. I have a ton of CDs, ranging from Patty Loveless, to Pantera.
Just because I'm a virgin, doesn't mean I'm innocent. I'll take almost any dare, and believe me when I say, my friends are willing to give me the craziest ones, no problem. I once jumped off a bridge into a creek. I know, it was stupid, but it was fun! Thankfully, the bridge wasn't very tall, and I knew it could be done. Then there was that one time when we went boating with Alex and Brad. Brad spent most of the day bragging he could water ski better than anyone else. There's no way he would fail. Did he really forget who he was bragging to? There he was in all his glory on those water skis when I stood up and flashed him from the boat. Oops, he crashed harder than expected. Later, he said it was totally worth the broken arm! Ha! Serves him right! There was also that other time. Shit, I hope nobody ever finds out about the Johnsons' tractor and how it ended up in the pond.
