Valadhiels POV
I woke up this morning as I quickly dressed in a green tunic, pants and dark leather boots. I quickly tied my hair into a fishtail and headed for the dining hall where Legolas was waiting.
"Ah Mellon! Good morning!" He spoke cheerfully linking arms with me as we walked to the table. Thranduil raised an eyebrow but softly smiled at us.
"Good morning Legolas! Sleep well?"
"Of course! And you?"
"Good good." Mumbled with a mouthful of food. He laughed at my response and began to dig in himself.
"Hello Legolas! Valadhiel." Tauriel spoke with a fake smile.
Tauriel and I never had the greatest relationship. She hated me with a passion, but I never understood why. I had done nothing to her, nothing I can remember. Yet I still tried to be as kind as possible.
"Hello Tauriel." Legolas greeted as she beamed "how are you?"
"Wonderful. I was wondering if we could go hunting in Mirkwood today? I haven't seen much of you."
"Sounds wonderful. "Legolas smiled "Valadhiel would you like to come?"
I really didn't want to be around them. I figured it would just be awkward and she would hate me even more.
"Actually. I have some things to attend to. You go on and enjoy yourselves. I'll see you at lunchtime. "I forced a smile.
"Goodbye mellon." Legolas called as I laughed and waved.
"Goodbye Mellon!"
Legolas's POV
I watched her go trying not to feel to sad. I stood up and offered Tauriel my arm which she took immediately.
"So how are the responsibilities of being a prince?"
"Nothing has really changed. How are duties for you?"
"We've been killing more spiders lately. A couple of prisoners..."
We walked in a comfortable silence as we passed through a garden. She stepped uneasily as I wondered what could be troubling her.
"Rumor has it that you will have to be king soon." Tauriel said nervously.
"Oh? Well I suppose." I said not sure where this was going.
"And with that you will need a queen." She finished. She twirling her hair nervously and eyeing me flirtatiously.
I raised an eyebrow in thought. Now I thought Tauriel was a lovely girl, don't get me wrong. I just didn't have any feelings for her in that way.
"I suppose every person needs a match." I replied with a smile.
"And... Have you found your match?" She moved extremely close for comfort while twirling her red hair.
"No I haven't." I spoke taking a step back incredibly uncomfortable.
The lunch bell rang as she stepped back blushing.
"I should go." She turned and left.
"Tauriel!" I called "I hope you find what your looking for."
She smiled and continued to leave.
Well that certainly was interesting.
