Chapter 6: Natsu's Nightmare

~Natsu's POV~

I held my breath as we walked into the small room. Although I hate to admit it, I'm actually really scared. The only thing calming me down was the warmth of Lucy's soft hand. She had long and dainty fingers, and her skin was extremely smooth.

As I shut the door, I let out a sigh. This room contained a single bed, chair, and a bedside table. It was usually vacant for the guests visiting Fairy Tail.

I looked at Lucy, but she was lost in her own thought. She stared at the floor with wide and frightened eyes. I could see her physically start to shake. I squeezed her hand, expecting some kind of reaction, but I received nothing.

"Lucy," I said looking into her sad brown eyes. She didn't even flinch. I carefully guided her to the edge of the bed. I sat her down when a single tear fell from her eye.

I unhooked my hand from hers, set down the supplies, and cupped her face with my hands. "Everything is going to be all right, I promise." She slowly turned her head towards me. I leaned my forehead against hers.

Her cries increased in volume. "We're all scared, everyone is going through the same thing. We're in this together," I said reassuring her.

"We are Fairy Tail, and we never lose hope."

She nodded and looked down at the floor, her breathing was uneasy. "Don't let me fall," she said with a raspy voice. "Save me," she mumbled quietly.

"I'm not gonna let the darkness get ya." I can't lose Lucy again. I promised to protect her, and her future. She couldn't get herself to smile, but I could see the relief in her eyes.

I dropped my hands from her face, and leaned back. I grabbed one of the syringes and filled it with the strange purple liquid. "I'll go first," I said standing up. She pulled a chair up next to the bed and sat down. I laid my head down against the pillow.

"You can do this Natsu, I believe in you." Lucy said as she entwined her fingers with mine. "I'll be here every step of the way," she smiled at me even though tears were rolling down her cheeks. She looked like an angel, even if she wasn't happy.

I handed her the syringe, my eyes shifted towards the ceiling. I probably left a trace of sweat on the glass, that's how nervous I was. "You do it, I can't." I said closing my eyes.

As I faded into slumber, I could feel her warmth, and hear her cries.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I awoke in an open field with no memories of the past. All I could remember was my friends and family. Happy, Erza, Gray, and all of the other Fairy Tail members appeared in my brain. It made me smile.

The wind gently blew across my face as I stood up. There were a few trees in the distance, but not much other than that.

"Natsu," a deep voice said behind me. I turned around, and my eyes widened with disbelief. I couldn't help but start to cry.

"Igneel." I said running towards him. After searching for years, I had finally found my father. He taught me everything I know. He even taught me how to use fire magic. He disappeared seven years ago, but I had finally found him.

He was smiling, he was crying, he was happy. I still couldn't believe my eyes. I placed my hand on his noise, "dad." I was so happy, I didn't ever want to leave this moment.

"You've turned into a great man Natsu," Igneel said proudly. "Don't ever give up on your dreams," I nodded looking into his gigantic eyes.

"It was all because of you dad!" I said with pride.

All of my happiness shattered at the sound of a shot gun. Igneel instantly went stiff, pupils oddly dilated. At least a hundred bullets came from a non existent gun. I saw blood emitting from his wounds.

"DAD!" I screamed as I looked around for the murderer. I sweat dropped as I saw the condition of my dad. I was shaking with anger and sadness. Blood was going everywhere. The entire ground surrounding us was painted red.

I ran towards his body, but his giant arm stopped me.

"Stop Natsu, my time has come to an end." He said as he pushed me back in front of his face.

"After seven lonely years without you, we finally reunited. You can't leave me again!" I was screaming, not believing my eyes, I couldn't possibly be seeing this. Spit and tears left my face as I yelled.

"I'll be fine Natsu, I'm all fired up." Igneel's eyes started to close. They were losing their color and light.

"PLEASE DON'T!" His eyes fully closed, and I sunk to the ground. "DAMNIT, NO!" I pounded my fists into the ground. I didn't stop until my fists were burning with pain. I was too late, I couldn't save him.

I lost my only family member, I felt empty.

"Natsu!" A series of voices yelled behind me. I slowly turned towards the noise and saw all of my guild mates standing there. I was so happy to see them. Erza, Gray, Wendy, all of them. Lisanna approached me with an extended hand.

"Come on Natsu, let's go." My tears had stopped momentarily because she was smiling. Ever since Lisanna came back from Edolas, we became really good friends. She brought a positive attitude to the guild. All of my friends have a positive influence of me.

I wiped my face with the sleeve of my jacket. I smiled and lifted my hand to hers. I placed my hand in hers, expecting everything to be great. As soon as we touched, her hand caught on fire. The grass in the field simultaneously started to burn.

She started screaming, and I brought my hand back.

"Lisanna I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to burn you!" The fire spread faster than I could think. All of my friends gasped, as they reacted to the fire surrounding them. They all started to burn as well. All of my friends and family were being caught up in my fiery flames.

I tried to eat the fire, but it wasn't working. I panicked and ran around to everyone, trying to move them from their place.

"Erza, Gray, Happy lets go! Come on!" I said as I tried to pull them away from the fire. Their feet wouldn't budge, but their screams were consistent. I burned them with my fire magic.

"Juvia!" I said running over towards her. "Use your water magic, quickly!" She looked right past me, giving me no reaction, but screaming. "SOMEONE HELP THEM," I screamed at the top of my lungs. My mind was racing with dark thoughts.

Lisanna's body dropped to the ground. Her pale skin was scorched to an ugly color of black and red. "Don't die on me again!" I said looking right over her face. My tears fell onto her burned skin. More and more bodies began to drop.

"Erza! Happy! Mira!" One by one, they all died, and I had to watch. I was helpless, there was nothing that I could do. I killed them. It was all my fault.

I killed everyone who was important to me.

I dragged my self across the ashes to find Happy. "Happy, come on little buddy." Happy's eyes were closed, he was motionless. My best friend, gone. I cried and gently placed him back on the grass. I got up and ran away from their bodies.

I was going insane, I just kept running until I couldn't see them. I must have been running for what felt like fifteen minutes. The whole time I was yelling and crying. I approached one of the many trees that I saw. Lucy was sat up against the tree.

"Lucy! You're okay!" She smiled and waved at me. I ran towards her, but an invisible wall sat in my way. I was confused on why I couldn't reach her. Did someone place a magic barrier around her? She stood up and walked towards me. She mouthed my name, and placed her hand on the enchantment.

I placed my hand in the exact same spot on the other side of the barrier. She looked so happy, it made me smile. "Lucy," I knew she couldn't hear me, but she reacted happily. The sky turned grey, and the rain started to pour down. Neither of us moved though. The thunder and lightning started to pick up with the rain.

She placed her forehead against the glass, and I copied her. A huge crack broke the connection. A giant lightning bolt hit the tree behind Lucy. It tilted in the direction towards her, and began to fall.

"Lucy, watch out!" I said as I tried to throw my body against the glass. She turned around at my sudden reaction. The tree crushed her frail body. She fell right in front of my eyes. The tree had fallen right on her back.

"LUCY!" I screamed and banged my fist on the barrier even harder. Her eyes were closed, but she remained smiling. "YOU CAN'T DIE ON ME AGAIN, I PROMISED I'D KEEP YOU SAFE!" During the Grand Magic Games, her future self died. I told her that I would protect her.

Wait, that's it. The Grand Magic Games already happened. We won, and after we stopped the dragon's, we went home. We went back to our guild.

None of this is real.
