Chapter 3: Angel

The room was silent other than my sobs of sadness. I deserved to be in pain. I don't know why so many people sacrificed their lives for me.

My body felt like it was filled with sand. I pushed myself up and grabbed a piece of glass from one of the photo frames. I examined them once again, which just made me feel worse.

The glass trembled in my hand as I brought it up to my face. It was a very sharp piece of glass. The clear piece of glass showed a distorted version of my reflection.

It just reminded me how many people's blood I had on my hands. My dad's, mother's, My future self, and Michelle's.

I was disgusted with myself. I held the glass an arms length from my chest. One little wound would end everyone's problem. "Maybe I should just do-,"

"Lucy what the hell are you doing?" Someone screamed at me from my doorway. I slowly turned my head, and a single tear streamed down my face.

I have never seen anyone run so fast. I heard the glass crunch underneath his feet. It was like an angel answering my prayers.

Natsu grabbed my hand and took the glass from it. He threw it across the room, and wrapped his arms around me. He hit me so hard that we both fell onto my bed. His eyes contained so much worry.

"Lucy why would you ever think of doing that?" His voice sounded extremely angry. I could feel his body start to shake. His voice broke a little on the last few words. His anger had turned to immediate sadness.

I shook my head as the tears continued to run down my face.
"I don't want to hurt anyone anymore," I said through a scratchy voice. "All I do is cause pain and sadness." I clenched my fists, making wrinkles in Natsu's shirt.

"What are you talking about?" Natsu asked moving my messy hair from my face. He backed away, still holding me. I couldn't dare look at him.

"Hey look at me," Natsu said as he carefully touched my chin. He gently pushed my head up so I could see him. He took his thumb and wiped a tear from my eye.

"I'm sorry for all the sadness that I've caused FairyTail." I said through a sob. "So many people have sacrificed themselves for me, and put their lives at stake. I've caused so many issues." Natsu turned his head in confusion.

"What are you talking about Lucy?" He paused and wiped another tear from my eye. "We all sacrifice ourselves for our friends because we're family. We all love you Lucy," Natsu said. Tears were starting to form in his eyes.

"Especially me Lucy," he said genuinely. I felt like a weight was lifted off of my chest. A wave of exhaustion instantly hit me. I gave him a hug as I cried into his shoulder. We were lying down on my bed, facing each other.

"Promise me that you'll never do that again," he said quietly. He grabbed my hand and starting moving his thumb across the surface.

"I promise," I said staring right into his onyx eyes. I meant that promise, and would never betray it.

After laying there for a few minutes, I finally started to recollect myself. Natsu was rubbing my back as I cried. He didn't say anything, he was just there, and that's all I needed.

Natsu saved my life. I tried to get up, but I was too tired.
"Someone sent me these letters that contained pictures of all the people that I 'supposedly' killed." I lifted my hand and shakily pointed towards the ground. "Did I really kill them Natsu?" I asked as I moved myself closer to him.

"No you didn't Lucy," he held my hand in his. He was warm, and it just increased my exhaustion. "You have caused so much joy in everyone's life. Erza, Gray, Wendy, and everyone in the guild couldn't live without you. I know I certainly couldn't either. So wipe that frown off your face, and let me see one of those pretty 'Lucy smiles.'"

A smile slowly crept across my face, I'm certain that it wasn't pretty, but Natsu smiled anyway. "That's what I'm looking for," he said as he pulled a blanket over me. I felt him get up from my bed. I guess he could tell I was tired. I could barely keep my eyes open, but instantly opened them.

"N-Natsu," I said as I grabbed the end of his scarf. "W-Will you stay with me tonight?" I asked as my arm plopped back down on the bed.
"Of course I will, I promise."

He joined me under the blanket, and wrapped him arms around me once again. I fell asleep so easily because of Natsu's warmth. He was always right there when I needed him.
