Chapter Twenty Nine | The Journey

Eight months later after the graduation ceremony, the couple managed to get a flat not too far from the city. A three bedroom and two baths with a study room and a nice pool. It's one story because Zayn reasoned that he didn't want his child climbing up the steps or falling down. Then Kae told him that they would use a childproof gate. But he didn't like the idea of having a two story house with a new baby on the way. Especially when Kae's belly is about to pop and she'll be having trouble walking up and down the stairs. And he also told her that they will be having more babies so having a two story house would be a hassle. So they came to an agreement and bought the simple house.

Trisha was a bit bummed that her only son move out. But she is proud of him because he will be starting a family soon. On a unrelated note, she has forgave Yaser and the divorce papers were finalized not too long ago when he got out of prison. She said they can still be friends, and that he could see his grandkid from time to time with Zayn's permission. Speaking of Zayn, he has forgave his father as well but there is still this bit disappointment in him. Then again, that is his father and everybody makes mistakes and they will have to learn from them.

Jerome was drafted to play for a professional league football team. He is very happy to call himself an uncle and he is extremely happy to call himself a dad as well. He got engaged to his fiancé Cherie a few months ago and they are already expecting a baby.

Liam is a psychologist at the local therapy hospital. He is actually one of the best in the city. It's his passion to help other people and give them advice. Because that is what he loves to do. And also, the girl that kissed him after the graduation ceremony is now his girlfriend. Her name is Macy and she decided not to give up love, because Liam is the best thing that has ever happened to her.

Harry is a marine biologist and he goes all over the world to different places for experiments. He said his goodbye when he went off to the coast of Australia to do some testing and to check out their laboratory. Zayn was a sad that he had to leave. He liked Harry because he was a good friend and that Harry actually cared about him. They checked up on each other of course and Zayn threatened him if he doesn't come to his wedding then they will no longer be friends anymore. Harry made a promise to be there for his special day.

Lastly, Niall went to go play up for a professional soccer team out of the country. He has apologized to Kae and she has forgave him. They sit on good terms now. Even though Niall wanted to be something more with Kae, he understand that he made a mistake of trying to force himself on her. Sadly, he moved on to someone else and he is living his life with his girlfriend Michelle.

The couple are in the living room watching TV. Snuggled up with each other and eating snacks. All was going well until Kae got a huge cramp in her stomach.

"Ooowwww," Kae whined, she sat up and placed a hand on her stomach and took deep breaths.

Zayn sat up and worry and rubbed her back, "Y-You okay?"

"I think it just kicked—oh no..Zayn my water broke," she groaned loudly, the feeling of the wetness was now trailing down her legs.

"Shit," Zayn mumbled, he got up quickly and grabbed the emergency bag that was already at the front door when the time came.

"Zayn—owww..it's hurts so bad," Kae cried.

He did his best not to freak out because that would just lead to panic and trouble. Zayn helped his fiancé from the couch and walked with her to the front door. When she got into the car, they drove to Trisha's house quickly. Kae fumbled with her phone as she tried to call the doctor that would be delivering the baby.

"Dr. Dean? It's Kaelin—oh my god—and in want to tell you that—oww—the baby is on it way," Kae panted.

"I'll be on my way with my medical team now. Is it the address you sent me?" Dr. Dean asked over the phone.

"Yes, and please hurry up," she practically begged.

"Okay, just calm down little lady. Everything will be alright, just breathe and focus on the good and not the pain. We're on our way," Dr. Dean said and hung up the phone.

"Zaaaynn..it hurts so bad," Kae whined, she did that during the whole car ride and Zayn tried to remain calm as he drove to his mother's house.

Surprisingly, the medical team was already there. Zayn got out of the car and went to the other side of the car to help Kae get out of the car. It was a painful journey to the front door but they made it together. And once she stepped foot in the house, everything happened so quickly he almost fainted from all the rush.

The living room looked like a hospital room. There were monitors and other nurses here, it made him slowly sink back into his shell because there was a lot of people in this house. And the noise was level really bothered him. But he knew that he had to be strong for Kae and his baby.

"Ooowwww!" Kae cried, there was tears falling down her face and yet she hasn't even pushed the baby out. The contractions were killing her.

"Breath sweetheart," Dr. Dean instructed. "It's going to be over soon."

"That's not helping!" Kae frowned, another contraction hit her and she yelled in pain.

Zayn could only watch, he felt bad for making Kae go through all of this. He bit his lip and played with the ends of his shirt as he swayed side to side mumbling things underneath his breath.

"Go over there with her Zayn. She needs you," Trisha says softly to her nervous son.

"T-Too..too many p-people," he shook his head. "C-Cant..do it."

Trisha sighed because she knew her son inside and out. Things didn't go too well when he was with other people that he didn't know. He felt uncomfortable being around strangers. And what made him really sad is that he couldn't be there with his fiancé during all of this. All because of his condition.

Moments later, the contractions grew worse and Kae was almost over the edge because of it. Dr. Dean checked to see if she was ready, and she was.

Dr. Dean held Kae's hand and gave her a smile, "You're going to have to push, I need you to breath and and gain some strength for this baby, okay?"

"Okay," she croaked.

Dr. Dean told the nurses to adjust the pillows and made sure that Kae is comfortable before they started. Dr. Dean gave her the count and Kae pushed with all of her might. Surprisingly she did a good job for the first try, she just needed to do it two more times.

Zayn disappeared in the kitchen to get himself some cool water to calm himself down. He is in the edge right now. Kae is out there giving birth to their child and he is in here hiding because he couldn't take it all.

One nurse came in the kitchen and saw that Zayn might have a nervous breakdown. He was pacing around the kitchen mumblings words underneath his breath. He was sure as hell nervous.

So she walked to him and said something, "Hi I'm Dina..would you like to come out and watch your baby being born? Your fiancé is down to her last push and I really think she wants you to see it. Would you mind joining us?"

"I-I..dunno," he sighed. "T-Too much."

"I know it is sweetheart, but Kae really needs you right now," Dina said softly.

"S-She does?" Zayn asked.

"Yes, now come with me," Dina motioned him to come out of the kitchen and he listened.

Zayn walked into the living room and saw Kae trying to catch her breath from the second push she just did.

Kae looked around the room and saw Zayn stand bing by the entryway. She gave him a small smile before motioning him to come closer.

Taking a deep breath, he walked over by her. Zayn held her hand and planted sweet kisses on her knuckles. Kae smiled at him and murmured a small 'thank you' because she is truly thankful that he came here to stay.

"One..two..three..push," Dr. Dean instructed and Kae pushed again harder than ever before, squeezing Zayn's hand tight until the sound of a baby crying filled the room.

"You did it!" Trisha squealed with a big smile. "I'm so proud of you two."

Zayn wiped Kae's sweaty forehead and smiled at her, "Y-You..you d-did it babe."

"No, we did it," Kae corrected. "I'm so proud of you Zayn..thank you for staying by my side."

"Welcome," he giggled and pecked her lips softly.

"It's a boy," Dr. Dean cooed softly, she gave the small baby to Kae and sighed happily. This must've been the cutest couple she seen ever since she started delivering babies.

"Oh my gosh..he's so adorable," Kae said in awe. "You look just like your daddy."

Zayn smiled at his son. He had carmel skin and rosy cheeks with a lot of hair. He was wrapped up in a blue blanket and he slept peacefully in his mother's arms. He felt something in his heart and that sensation really brought him to tears. He's a father now.

"Oh baby, please don't cry," Kae begged.

"N-No..h-happy..happy tears Kae..I-I swear," he told her.

"So..what are you going to name him?" Dr. Dean asked.

"It should be Zayn Jr," Trisha suggested.

"What do you think babe?" Kae asked.

"T-Toni..Toni Malik," Zayn spoke softly. He had that name in his head for a while now, hoping that their first child would be a boy.

"Oooh yess, I like that," Kae smiled.

After signing some papers and some cleaning up it was all official now. Dr. Dean and some nurses packed up their equipment and loaded them into the medical van.

"I must get going..I wish you both luck," Dr. Dean waved and left.

Kae and Zayn sat on the couch admiring their new born baby. Trisha brought her some water and they were left in peace and quiet.
