Y/N-
I sat at my desk, fighting the dizzy spells that had been plaguing me since the morning. Taehyung was in his office, reviewing some documents, and although I tried to focus on my tasks, my head felt increasingly heavy. I'd hoped it would pass, thinking maybe it was just a lack of sleep or stress from getting back to work after our week-long break. But the longer I sat here, the harder it became to ignore the fatigue weighing on me.
I kept glancing toward Taehyung's office, hoping he wouldn't notice. The last thing I wanted was for him to worry. We both had a mountain of work to catch up on after being away, and I didn't want him to think I was slacking or unable to keep up. But as the hours passed, I could feel my strength fading.
Around noon, Taehyung came out of his office, holding a couple of files. He stopped at my desk, glancing down at me with a concerned look. "Y/n, are you okay? You don't look too well." His voice was soft, yet there was an edge of worry in it.
I managed a small smile, trying to look as normal as possible. "I'm fine, Taehyung. Just a bit tired."
He raised an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced. "Tired, or are you feeling unwell? You look pale." He reached over and placed a hand on my forehead before I could protest, his touch gentle and warm.
"Really, it's nothing serious. Just a bit of a headache, that's all." I tried to brush it off, but the look in his eyes told me he wasn't buying it.
After a pause, he sighed and said, "Why don't you go home, Y/n? You're not doing yourself any favors by staying here when you're feeling this way. Besides, we both know how much work we have, and I need you at your best."
I hesitated. Leaving in the middle of the day felt wrong, especially when I knew he was relying on me. But the truth was, I was starting to feel faint. I nodded slowly, realizing I'd be more of a burden than a help if I stayed.
"Thank you, Taehyung," I said, giving him a weak smile. I stood up, feeling slightly unsteady on my feet. He watched me closely, concern still etched across his face.
"I'll have my driver take you home," he said, his tone firm and decisive. "It's non-negotiable."
I wanted to protest, but the kindness in his eyes silenced me. "Alright," I replied softly, touched by his thoughtfulness. He returned my smile with a gentle one of his own, looking relieved that I wasn't arguing.
As I gathered my things, Taehyung walked me to the elevator, a silent presence by my side. The elevator doors opened, and he pressed the button for the ground floor. Before they closed, he looked at me again, as if he wanted to say something more but chose to hold back.
"Take care of yourself, Y/n," he finally said. "Rest well. I'll check in on you later."
I thanked him, feeling a strange warmth spreading through me. The doors closed, and as the elevator began its descent, I allowed myself a moment to close my eyes and breathe. It was only when I finally got into Taehyung's car that the exhaustion hit me fully, my body sinking into the seat.
On the way home, my mind drifted back to the past few weeks. Our marriage was still new, and while we were figuring things out, Taehyung had been nothing but patient and understanding. I'd seen a different side of him than I'd known in the office—more caring, thoughtful, and gentle. It made me feel lucky in a way I hadn't expected, knowing that this was the man who stood beside me now. And while our relationship was still finding its footing, moments like today reminded me that I'd made the right choice in giving this a chance.
When I finally got home, I dropped my bag by the door and went straight to my room, feeling as if I could sleep for hours. As soon as I lay down, the world around me blurred, and I slipped into a deep sleep.
I woke up to the sound of my phone buzzing beside me. Groggily, I reached for it, squinting at the screen. It was a message from Taehyung, asking if I was feeling any better. A small smile played on my lips as I typed a quick reply, letting him know I was okay and thanking him again for insisting that I go home.
After replying, I lay there, thinking about how things had changed. My feelings for Taehyung were evolving in a way I hadn't anticipated. I'd always admired him as a person, respected his dedication and kindness. But there was more to it now—a warmth that had been growing ever since we'd started this journey together. It was both comforting and confusing.
I stayed in bed, my thoughts drifting back to the way he'd looked at me earlier, his eyes full of concern. There was something in his gaze, something that made me wonder if he felt a deeper connection too. But I brushed the thought aside, reminding myself not to read too much into things. It was still too early, and I didn't want to risk the friendship and respect we'd built so far.
As evening approached, I finally got up, feeling a bit better. I wandered into the living room, my mind still lingering on the day. Maybe I'd bring up the idea of talking more openly with Taehyung about our feelings, but for now, I was content to let things unfold naturally.
Later that night, my phone buzzed again, and I smiled as I saw another message from Taehyung. He was just checking in, making sure I'd eaten something and reminding me to rest. The thoughtfulness behind his words warmed me, a quiet reassurance that he was looking out for me, even from afar.
I replied, letting him know I was feeling much better, and thanked him once more for taking care of me. His response came almost immediately, light-hearted and teasing, telling me to get a good night's rest so I wouldn't end up fainting on him at work tomorrow.
His humor made me laugh, and I could feel a warmth in my chest as I typed back. Perhaps, in time, I'd find the courage to be more open with him about how grateful I felt, and maybe even about the new feelings growing within me.
For now, though, I would take things one day at a time, finding comfort in the steady kindness of the man who had unexpectedly become such an important part of my life. And as I drifted off to sleep, I found myself looking forward to the days ahead, to this journey we'd embarked on together, wherever it might lead.
TAEHYUNG-
As I walked into my room, the first thing I noticed was Y/n sleeping on her side, her face relaxed but slightly pale. I let out a quiet sigh of relief, glad that she seemed to be resting well. After greeting Grandfather and hearing about his day, I'd come straight up, unable to shake off the worry that had settled in me since I'd sent her home earlier.
Gently, I sat on the edge of the bed, reaching over to feel her forehead. It was slightly warm, but thankfully, not feverish. I hadn't realized how tense I'd been until that moment, until that slight reassurance washed over me.
"Y/n," I called softly, brushing a stray strand of hair from her face. She stirred a little, her eyes fluttering open slowly, her gaze still soft and unfocused.
"Oh, you're back," she murmured, giving me a faint smile as she began to wake up fully.
I nodded, relieved to see her awake. "Yeah, I'm back. How are you feeling?"
She seemed to take a moment to think, as if gauging her own body's response before answering. "A little better, I think."
"Good," I said, smiling gently. "Let's get some dinner, and afterward, you can take your medicine."
She nodded, stretching a bit before getting up. I offered her my hand, steadying her as she stood, and I could feel her lean into my support ever so slightly. It was these small, subtle moments that made me feel even closer to her, realizing how naturally we were beginning to share these little acts of care and comfort.
We walked down to the dining room together, the warm glow of the evening light casting a soft hue around the room. Grandfather was already seated, his eyes lighting up as he saw us together. He'd been overjoyed about the marriage, always saying how lucky he felt to have Y/n in the family. Seeing him so happy made me feel both proud and strangely humbled.
As we ate, I kept a subtle eye on her, making sure she was eating enough and that she wasn't pushing herself. I'd noticed earlier how she had the habit of hiding her discomfort, not wanting to worry others. But now, as her husband, I wanted her to understand that I was here for her—that she could lean on me without hesitation. I'd seen enough of her strength, her resilience, and now I wanted her to know that she didn't always have to bear everything alone.
Halfway through dinner, Grandfather started sharing one of his endless stories about his younger days in business, sparking a light chuckle from both of us. Watching her laugh at his jokes and engage with him reminded me of how seamlessly she'd fit into my life—and not just mine, but into our family. There was something truly comforting about seeing the two of them together, as if she'd always been meant to be here with us.
When we'd finished eating, I asked her to wait in the dining room while I went to grab her medicine. I returned with the small bottle in hand, pouring her a glass of water.
"Here," I said, handing it to her. She took it with a thankful smile, our fingers brushing lightly as she did. I tried to ignore the warmth spreading through me at the contact, focusing instead on making sure she was comfortable.
"Thank you, Taehyung," she said, looking up at me with those gentle, sincere eyes of hers. There was a certain softness there, something unspoken that made my heart beat a little faster.
"It's nothing," I replied, brushing it off casually even as I felt the weight of the moment. "You should get some rest after this, okay?"
She nodded, and we headed back to our room. She moved slowly, still a bit tired, and I instinctively slowed my pace to match hers. As we reached the door, I opened it for her, letting her step inside first. The room was calm and quiet, the evening settling in with a comfortable warmth.
I watched as she settled back onto the bed, her eyes beginning to droop with sleep. I went to my side of the bed, and for a moment, I just sat there, watching her drift off again. My mind wandered back to how our relationship had started—two colleagues, almost strangers, suddenly thrown into this unexpected bond of marriage. And now here we were, navigating our way through these uncharted waters with a surprising amount of comfort and familiarity.
I leaned back against the headboard, thinking about how things had shifted between us over the past month. I hadn't expected to feel so much, so soon. Yet every day, the feelings I had for her grew a little stronger, a little deeper. There was a quiet joy in simply being by her side, sharing our daily routines, looking out for her in ways that were both subtle and profound.
As she slept, I found myself whispering softly, almost as if I were speaking to her subconscious. "I'll take care of you, Y/n. I'll always be here, no matter what." It was a quiet promise, one that I hoped she could somehow sense.
After a while, I lay down, letting sleep take over as I listened to the gentle rhythm of her breathing. There was a peace in this, in just being near her, a quiet understanding that maybe, in time, she'd come to feel the same warmth, the same closeness I felt for her.
For now, though, I was content just being here, knowing that I had the privilege of sharing her life in whatever way she'd let me. The rest would come in time, I was sure of it.
