7 - Married Couples Can Go on Dates Too

Day 1

The remaining two steaming rice bowls that once sat waiting on the kitchen counter were placed down onto the table facing the backyard illuminated by sunlight. It was nine A.M, and Eunji had never seen the interior of her new home so bright. It made her like it all the more.

Seeing that Jungkook was still asleep on his side of the bed when she woke up, she was quick to freshen up and begin making breakfast for the two of them.

Or maybe it was to keep her busy as she tried to figure out how to tell him what the challenge of the day was.

I guess you could call it multitasking.
The sound of a door creaking open caught her attention, shortly followed by steps going down the stairs. After turning the corner towards the kitchen, Jungkook appeared walking towards her in a clean navy suit and white button up underneath.

"Where are you going?"

The words flew out of her mouth before she could think, watching as he grabbed a cup from the cupboard and brought it to their smart fridge to fill the glass with water.

"Good morning to you too."

Eunji tried to not roll her eyes and instead crossed her arms over her chest, waiting for his reply.

"I'm going to work." he finally answered once taking a sip of his water and rounding around the kitchen island to join her by the table she had set up for the both of them.

"You're going to work the day after our wedding?"

Jungkook took a seat at the head of the table, looking up to her and raising a brow.

"Do we have a honeymoon that I'm not aware of?"

"No."

"Well then, yes I'm going to work."

He grabbed his chopsticks and reached over for the lettuce bowl and then the sausages. Giving up, Eunji pulled back her chair and sat down.

"What time are you leaving then?" she began filling her plate with a few things as he continued eating.

"Whenever." he answered before bringing another sausage to his lips.

Hearing his response, Eunji put her chopsticks down and sighed.

"So you're choosing to go to work today."

Jungkook shrugged, "I guess you could say that."

"Really, Jungkook?!"

Her arms were once again folded across her chest as he gave her a confused look.

"What?"

He noticed the slight pout that formed along her lips, and the way that she sighed and turned her attention back to the food on the plate while chewing on her bottom lip.

He put his chopsticks down and wondered what he had done to upset her this time.

"C'mon, don't hold it in." He sighed while leaning back into his chair, waiting for her to let it out.

Eunji took a breath in, still looking at her food as she poked at her rice.

"I just thought we'd spend some time together today, that's all. But your work is more important, so by all means, leave whenever you want." she didn't spare him a glance while he remained staring at her before scoffing.

"That has nothing to do with me going to work."

Eunji kept silent, scooping some rice to eat as he continued waiting for a reply. But seeing that she was now ignoring him, he internally groaned.

"Okay fine, I'll go later in the day. Happy?"

His wife only shrugged her shoulders nonchalantly.

"Why do you want me to stay?" he finally asked, getting a glance from her this time as he noticed the slight tint of pink that started to grow along her cheeks.

She took a moment to gather herself, knowing that this was the moment that she would be revealing the first task of the challenge that they would be taking up.

It wasn't something big at all, but that didn't mean it wasn't tough to say. Afterall, it was the first step to potentially making them closer to each other romantically. The only thing that she was concerned about was his reaction, which was unpredictable and always was, but then again he had agreed to do it with her.

Letting out a breath that she didn't know she was holding, Eunji finally put her chopsticks down and glanced at Jungkook.

"Remember the challenge I mentioned last night?"

"Yes?"

"Well, I was hoping that we could do the first task today."

Jungkook sighed, leaning back into his chair.

"What's the task?"

"Well," Eunjii cleared her throat, avoiding his gaze. "You have to ask me out."

"Like a date?" his brow had creased, "you want me to stay home all day just so I could ask you out on a date?"

Eunji slowly nodded, glancing at him before looking away.

"Well, I also have nothing to do all day. I don't want to stay home alone! Have you seen how big this house is?!" she was slightly pouting now as she tried defending herself, but Jungkook just groaned.

"We're married, why are we going on a date?"

"Married couples go on dates too, Jeon." she fired back, crossing her arms.

"That doesn't mean we have too."

"It's a part of the challenge!"

This Jungkook pinched the bridge of his nose. Who knew how much work he could have gotten done by now while at work. Yet here he was, his newly wedded wife, asking him to ask her out on a date.

It made no sense.

"Can't we just go on one? Why do I have to ask you?" he sighed, trying to maintain his calm this time.

Eunji shifted in her seat, a frown across her lips.

"Because it adds to the experience? We've never been on a date before and we can't just go on one, that's not how it works! Plus you're the guy! You're supposed to ask me out!"

Jungkook's lips parted to fire back to defend himself and say how girls could ask guys out too, but the sound of his cell phone cut him off. Glaring her way, he reached into the inside of his jacket's pocket to grab his phone. Answering his secretary's call, he watched Eunji stand up and walk away to grab herself a glass of water, making sure to fire him a glare of her own.

"It's not even that big of a deal." she grumbled to herself, watching her glass fill from the fridge. "Such a jerk."

Feeling a stare on her, she looked over her shoulder catching him looking at her with a smug grin before locking eyes and turning his gaze away while answering a question his secretary had asked. Her brow rose in confusion of his behaviour.

That was definitely odd, especially when they were arguing just a moment ago.

Just as she returned back to the table, he ended his call and stood up, slipping his phone back into his pocket.

"They need me at the company, so I have to go." he spoke, walking over to where his keys sat on the kitchen counter. "And it isn't by choice."

Eunji's arms had crossed over her chest once more as she rolled her eyes.

Not like he wasn't going to leave anyways.

Even so, she followed him to their front door silently, debating whether he was still going to ask her out or not, and whether that meant that they were still going to do the challenge.

So far, it seemed like a no.

She watched him slip on his shoes and grab the handle of the door, allowing more sunlight to seep into their home once he had pulled the door open.

"I'm not sure when I'll be back home, but if I'm late then don't wait for me." he finally turned to her, his one hand holding the door handle.

"I'm sure you'll find something to do while I'm gone."

Eunji glared at him as he just smirked in response for a reason she just couldn't figure out. He wasn't even trying to hide it.

"Oh, and by the way," he stepped towards her, leaning down towards her ear, catching her off guard.

"Red lace looks nice on you."

Lips parted in shock, and cheeks suddenly flushing red, Eunji didn't even have the chance to respond because the door was suddenly shut in her face as her husband escaped out of her hold.

How the hell did he even know!
