2 - My Fiancé Doesn't Love Me

DDay - 2

She couldn't find him.

Why did he have to be the one who's right every time? She just couldn't see where it was fair.

At this point Eunji believed it was a curse placed upon her to be corrected by Jeon Jungkook all her life because this man was never proven wrong.

At least within the five years that had already passed.

That's right, Eunji had finally turned twenty-eight a few months back, which meant her friend had already turned the same age almost a year before from now.

Sorry, fiance.

They've been engaged for nearly a year now, for the sake of wedding preparations. Did that mean that they were in love? Not at all.

In fact, Eunji was cursing the day she had agreed to his offer.

"Oh come on, why are you being so grumpy? Isn't this what you wanted?" His low teasing voice spoke from the driver's seat next to her as she sat on the passengers side with her arms crossed and facing away from him while glaring out the window at the scenery that passed.

"No." she deadpanned.

"Gosh, I'm hurt." he was pouting this time, sparing her a glance before looking back at the road ahead of them. "My fiance doesn't love me after all."

Eunji ignored his comment, but was fully aware of the sly grin that was curving along his lips.

He really hadn't changed over the years. He was just as annoying and arrogant. And she was about to marry him within the next 48 hours.

"I would say I told you so, but you already know that."

Oh she did. She still couldn't get over the fact that she couldn't pull anyone within the five years that she had.

It really hit a nerve.

"I mean, if you're this upset about getting married to me, it isn't too late to cancel everything and act like nothing happened." Jungkook interrupted the short silence within the car once more and stole another glance at his soon-to-be-wife, knowing that he was testing her patience. He wanted to see her snap because he found it rather entertaining.

"You've been talking quite a lot today, don't you think?" Eunji had finally responded back. Her daily cup of patience was being overly filled, and spilling over the edges, especially after the tiring family dinner with their moms' bantering, and her being a target for her mother-in-law just as always.

"I find your state quite amusing, that's why."

"Well, it's not funny."

"It is to me."

Instead of responding back, Eunji chose to chew the inside of her cheek while continuing to glare out the window. She knew all too well that he was purposely pressing her buttons in order to test her limits, and she refused to give him the attention he wanted.

"I'm guessing that means that we're still getting married."

"Yes."

The familiar colourful sign of the diner near her apartment caught her eye, indicating that she was barely minutes away from freedom.

Freedom from her fiance and surprisingly loud mouth that day.

"I think this whole wedding stress is getting to you." he commented, not sparing her a glance while allowing the car to slow to an eventual stop. Eunji didn't notice the sincerness behind his words, and rather focused on being able to get out of the car as soon as possible and fall into her comfortable bed.

But he was right. The stress had started to consume her.

She was being pulled left and right by her mother and mother-in-law, who both had very different preferences on how they wanted her wedding to be. Whether the napkins should be navy or gold, or the flowers roses or lilacs, and whether her gown should be fitted or princess-like.

It was beginning to frustrate her, and at some points made her want to scream at them to stop, especially when a single family dinner at a nice restaurant two days before her wedding couldn't stop their fighting and she couldn't do anything but sit there and grit her teeth.

Jungkook noticed her slight hesitation after his comment before she gathered herself and pulled on the door handle to step out.

"Thanks for dropping me off." she mumbled, closing the car door before he had the chance to respond. Not even sparing him a glance, she turned her back to the car and made her way up the steps to her apartment, listening to his engine roar to life before drifting back onto the streets and leaving her by herself to insert her key into the lock and enter the building.

Romance was definitely dead.

At least in her world.

It didn't take long for Eunji to climb up to the third floor of her friendly apartment and get through the door of her cosy home which she had been yearning for all day.

Her black heels were kicked off and forgotten, while her matching purse was placed onto the shelf under the spot where her keys were hung. She shuffled her way towards her kitchen and filled herself a cup of water before gulping it down and letting out a sigh.

The silence felt good after a long day.
The cup clinked once she placed it into the sink and began her way towards her bedroom that seemed to be calling out to her in a whisper.

A whisper that she was more than ready to answer to.

Tired was an understatement.

Although she had recently quit her job, and been getting a nice nine hours of sleep every night for the past two weeks, the constant stress from her wedding preparations were enough to make her want to pull her blanket over her head and refuse to leave her home for days. But since when has life been that nice to her?

Eunji let out a heavy sigh as she began taking out her long silver dangling earrings and her matching bracelet and necklace. Her fingers then found their way to the zipper on the side of her over the knee black dress with a nice v-neck that she didn't believe exposed too much. But it did give a nice sneak peak of her cleavage.

She hummed in satisfaction as her skin was freed from the material and met with the cool air of her bedroom, leaving her in only her undies and bra.
But who cared, it was only her and the beautiful loneliness that she very much appreciated.

Walking around to her dresser, Eunji pulled out the middle drawer and scanned her pj options that mainly consisted of shorts and tank tops since her winter pj's were stored away to make up some space. After a moment or two, she settled on her favourite pair; black shorts with a tank top the exact same shade.

Yes, her wardrobe was not the colourful kind.

Putting them on, she made her way to the washroom to remove her makeup and do her skin care routine. Her wedding was 2 days away and her self-care had to be at the optimum level in order to increase her chances of a break-out free bride, no matter how lazy she felt.

You only get married once, and Eunji was determined to not give her skin a chance to rebel against her.

Patting her face dry once using her cleanser, Eunji felt refreshed, as if the stress from the night had been washed away and she could now enjoy herself and the peace that surrounded her without an interruption.

Her cleanser was followed by a salicylic acid serum for her pores and black heads, although barely visible, which was then followed by her soothing moisturiser and under-eye cream.

Happy that her night routine was finally over, and she could finally go to bed, she turned off the bathroom and bedroom lights and practically skipped into her comfortable bed that let her melt into it.

The coolness of her sheets felt amazing as she got under the covers and hugged her cold pillow. It was the beginning of August, so a cool bed was the best way to end the night for her.

Would her new bed be this comfortable?

Eunji's eyes fluttered open as the thought crossed her mind.

Jungkook and her had picked out a nice home that they both could agree on across the city in a more calmer area, where both her parents and in-laws lived, only about a month ago, which meant her comfortable bed would be abandoned until she fully moved out and found a renter.

That slightly upset her more than it should have, especially when it had been her closest friend lately.

Sighing, Eunji turned onto her back, staring up at her dark ceiling.

Just even the thought of moving out of her home felt crazy to her. She wouldn't be living alone anymore, but rather sharing her new home with her husband. And perhaps sharing more than just her home.

Neither she nor Jungkook had talked about their sleeping arrangement, especially when they had two extra guest rooms and could sleep separately, but she didn't know how she felt about being married and still sleeping alone. She also wasn't sure about sharing a bed with him.

Not that she thought that he would pull something inappropriate off, but rather because she felt like it would be awkward, especially the very first night.

First night.

That was an entirely different topic to stress about.

Eunji pulled her covers up higher.

Her biggest fear was for Jungkook to have expectations from her on the night of their wedding. Although ideally she would like to lose her virginity on her wedding night, just like every hopeless romantic secretly would, but her initial plan also consisted of her losing her virginity to someone she was in love with.

And Jeon Jungkook was not on that list.

At least not yet.

So if he did have expectations, then things were about to get awkward because she wasn't ready to lose her virginity to him that easily. Even if he was her super hot husband-to-be.

Letting out a breath, Eunji turned onto her side instead, shutting her eyes.

There was still a lot to think about, and she felt like she was running out of time since her feelings still weren't sorted out. A part of her said to go with the flow and that everything would be fine when the time came, while the other half freaked out over all the possibilities. Either way, Eunji chose to bid her worries good night, and finally get her most needed sleep.
