Chapter 10
I've been stress writing. My work was shit. Lol. Don't get used to the frequent updates cos I don't know my schedule myself. Anyways...enjoy reading...

Jungkook didn't know when or how his wolf got so whipped for the little omega. Maybe it was the moment he jumped in front of Taehyung to block his punch or the way his little hands pushed at his chest.
For someone who had never batted an eye when he hurt someone, his wolf almost had a panic attack upon realizing how close he'd come to deck the omega accidentally. He was furious that the omega would put him in such a situation.
How dare he!
He had glanced at that smooth, porcelain skin, horrified at what would have happened if he hadn't stopped his fist on time. The thought of hurting him terrified him and Jungkook...he had never felt that emotion before.
As he glanced down at the omega, growling at him to back down, Jimin had stood his ground, refusing to back down and hell bent on protecting Taehyung.
No omega or any wolf in his pack had done such a thing before. Jimin was so brave. So so brave. Jungkook's wolf had bowed his head in acknowledgment. Another first. That day the omega earned his respect.
As his fingers tightened around the knitted scarf, he could feel Taehyung's intense gaze on him and he huffed, looking away. The cunning wolf had once again tricked him into scenting him. But he'd be lying if he had said he didn't feel as if the heaviness in his heart had lifted.
He had missed Taehyung immensely even if he was too prideful to accept it. He had been the only constant in his life ever since his father left him in the care of Taehyung's parents. He was always there until suddenly he wasn't.
Jungkook had been confused and lost when Taehyung had left him. He'd spend days wondering what he did wrong for his friend to leave him like that. For days, he blamed himself for the silly fights and fucking teenage hormones that caused the fights between them.
He hadn't even known Taehyung was seeing the omega. He always thought Taehyung was fooling around when he'd come home with that distinct smell of roses. But Taehyung always claimed he didn't.
They were supposed to tell each other everything. Share every deep secret. Jungkook hated his father for sending him to a boarding school. It was a tradition he was told. Jeons always went to boarding school when they entered high school and then abroad for their university. He didn't worry too much because he was supposed to go with Taehyung. But his friend refused to go with him and they had their first serious fight.
He cried for the first time when he packed and left for the boarding school. He began to see Taehyung less and less. Then before that year was even over, Taehyung had left without so much as a goodbye to him.
He was still salty and felt betrayed by his friend. Taehyung promised. He promised he'd always be there for him.
He wasn't there when he had his first kiss or lost his virginity. He wasn't there for his graduation. He wasn't there when he won the sports tournament. He wasn't there for a lot of things like he fucking promised. He wasn't there when he took over the Dragons.
Jungkook wasn't someone who forgave easily. But he couldn't hold grudges when it came to Taehyung. He'd been fucking pissed when he first saw a magazine with Taehyung as one of their models. Then he began seeing him everywhere, sometimes with the most gorgeous omega on the planet.
The industry murmured they were the IT couple and Jungkook had more reasons to hate his ex-best friend every passing day. Then Taehyung tried to reach out and Jungkook had rudely shut him out because it was too late to salvage whatever friendship they had between them.
That night at the party, he purposefully avoided going because he knew Taehyung was coming over. No matter how much he hated the other alpha, he didn't have the heart to tell the woman who brought him up to never see her own son. So he stayed away.
Then Taehyung showed up, stupidly jumping in front of the fucking bullet and smiling even as he bled out on his lap. But Jungkook hated him more because just before he fainted he'd said, "Protect my Jiminie."
However, everything has changed now. He was the one who whipped for the omega now. Taehyung didn't have any romantic feelings for the omega. They were blood-bonded. A relationship as sacred as siblings born for the same mother.
While Taehyung was recovering, he learned his best friend didn't even graduate high school when he left. He never went to the art school like he always dreamed of. His men had found out Taehyung and Jimin mostly lived on the streets, barely surviving and always running. That was until Jimin began modeling.
Jungkook had left with an overwhelming guilt for staying angry for too long. Taehyung hadn't come back to them until he was a growing model. They hadn't known about him and hadn't bothered because Taehyung left. Told them he didn't want a part of whatever they were.
He should have checked in on him. Should have sent men after him and brought them both home. He should have done something. But as Namjoon had told him, they couldn't change the past.
Jungkook sometimes didn't know what he should make of the situation, but when he refused La Cosa Nostra's proposal in favor of Jimin, his alpha had howled in his mind. He'd felt pride wash over him.
He was a man bound to honor. Even if Taehyung hadn't saved his life, he'd have done it. He'd have always honored the trust Taehyung had in him. Even if he hated Jimin for taking Taehyung away from him, he'd have protected the omega.
"La Cosa Nostra isn't happy that you refused his proposal," Namjoon said. "He doesn't believe that you have an omega. You're notorious for refusing the mating proposals. They're demanding an explanation."
Jungkook shrugged. "My omega is none of his business and I don't owe them shit."
"Jungkook-ah no one knows you are courting Jimin." Namjoon sighed. "The situation is similar to the Black Mambas. They demand redemption for killing their men. We were in their territory."
"I'm allowed to be in a secret relationship. My omega is well known in the industry and I have more enemies than I count. Isn't that reason enough, hyung?" Jungkook lifted a brow nonchalantly. "I was just protecting my omega and my best friend."
"Taehyung hasn't been a dragon for so long," Namjoon's voice was exasperated. "Not many know of his connection with the dragons. It won't be easy."
Jungkook clenched his jaw. "Taehyung has always been a dragon even if he wasn't an active part of it. He left but he never removed his tattoo nor gave up Kim's surname. He kept his distance but always came back. A pack never turns their back on a wolf. He's ours to pardon or to punish." His eyes shone molten gold with his alpha surfacing. "I won't let anyone touch him or my omega as long as I'm alive."
Namjoon straightened with a ghost of a smile spreading across his lips. "Yes, alpha."
"As far as the public is concerned, Taehyung was Jimin's bodyguard. He was protecting his pack alpha's mate."
"Yes, alpha."
Jungkook knew the situation with the La Cosa Nostra and the Black Mambas was far from over. But he wouldn't be the most feared alpha if he doesn't know what to do, does he?
He smiled as he dug his nose into the scarf.
I'll protect you, my omega. No one will dare to touch you. Ever.

Taehyung was going to his room when Yoongi stopped him. They were in the hallway. The alpha looked uncomfortable and shifted from one foot to the other.
He eyed the bouquet of lilies suspiciously. The alpha didn't strike him as someone who apologized that easily, let alone realized his mistake.
"Did Jungkook put you up for this?" Taehyung lifted a brow.
Yoongi's eyes went wide. "What? No. I just wanted to say sorry for my behavior earlier." Yoongi sighed. "I shouldn't have judged you without knowing you."
Taehyung watched him patiently. A part of him was happy to hear those words from the alpha. However, he did not smell the alpha's regret. His scent was neutral and it didn't feel like he meant those words. It felt as if he was repeating the words of someone.
"You're right. You shouldn't have judged me without knowing me," he replied. "Apology accepted."
The other alpha's shoulder slumped with relief and Taehyung smiled sadly.
"They're beautiful."
He lifted a hand to trace the soft petals, their fragrance so calming. Only Jungkook and Jimin knew his love for lilies. When he was small, he had grown them in his garden and tended to them religiously. Yoongi lifted it toward him.
Taehyung dropped his hands with a shake of his head. "I can't accept them." He met the alpha's puzzled expression. There was a slight shift in his scent for the first time since they spoke this evening. "I know you didn't mean it. Someone made you do this. I accepted it because I want to move on."
With that, Taehyung pivoted on his heel and began to walk but stopped. He turned his head so he could see the stunned alpha in his peripheral vision.
"When we both ran away, we had no place to stay." He turned his head to stare ahead. Talking about their painful past was hard but he had to get it out of his chest. "There was no roof above our heads. We lived on the streets and ate from the restaurant garbage bins." He clenched his fists at the memory. "After I killed the second scoundrel who touched my Jiminie, their families sent their men after us. I was a bit careless with that kill. I wasn't this strong you see and I hadn't eaten in days. The fight was bloody and they doubted it was me. Jimin was one of their loose ends and they wanted to end him." He swallowed. "We ran. But they found us wherever we went. That day they found us again. Jiminie was so weak and I was hurt but we managed to get away and reached this abandoned dumping yard in the outskirts of the town. They were hot on our heels and we were so exhausted that we couldn't move on. So we hid in a car."
Taehyung paused for a moment to take a deep breath. The alpha's scent was curious and he could feel his unwavering gaze on his back.
"We were sure they'd find us. They had dogs with them. I only feared for Jimin's safety. I'd have fought them to death but I was afraid what would happen to Minnie if I died. Then it suddenly rained." He smiled at the memory. It was so sunny and hot that there was no chance for rain. But by some miracle the sky had opened doors and began pouring.
"It was a miracle. One second it was sunny and bright, the next the skies were dark and it was pouring. The rain had washed away our scents. Washed away any traces we might have left behind. The dogs were confused. So were the wolves. They tried to search every car in the vicinity but it was futile. There were just so many cars. They had the place surrounded. We hid there for two days. We were afraid to even breathe louder and hid in that confined space."
He then turned to meet Yoongi's gaze. The alpha was watching him intently, lilies clutched tight in his hand.
"It rained continuously for those two days. We were both weak and vulnerable. In those moments, the rain was the only comfort we had. For the first time in months, we felt strangely safe. On the third day, we escaped at night. Once again, the rain covered our tracks. We were able to get out of there." He met Yoongi's gaze and saw the understanding behind them. "I've always associated that scent with safety. You smell like rain," he whispered. "You were the first one I smelled when I woke up. But you're also an asshole alpha. Guess I shouldn't have let the scent fool me."
This time when Taehyung left, he smiled because he'd smelled the first notes of regret in the alpha's scent.

Jungkook who was watching their exchange through the cameras roared so loud that Hoseok jumped off his chair and stared at him wide eyed.
"Find the details of the family," he growled. "Find every single one." His eyes shone molten gold. "You know what to do."
"Yes, alpha."
Yoongi was dejected when he returned. Jungkook almost felt pity for the alpha. He knew Taehyung wouldn't jump to accept his apology but he put up Yoongi to do that because he wanted the stubborn alpha to realize Taehyung's worth.
Taehyung wasn't a pushover and he wasn't someone who did something based on an impulse. Yoongi's sour scent flooded the room and he scrunched his nose.
"Sorry, man. I can sense your path to courting and mating got even harder," Hoseok said. "Good luck with that one."
"This wasn't a courting gift," Yoongi growled, digging into his pocket. "I thought I'd give him the ring we bought once he accepted the apology."
"He would have if you were sincere." Hoseok wasn't someone who held back. He tapped his foot on the floor as he glared at his friend.
Jungkook watched in amusement as the alpha took dig after dig on his consigliere.
"Fuck you! No one asked for your opinion."
"Not interested." Hoseok waved a hand in dismissal. "I'm not into alphas and certainly not into you. But you have to try a little harder."
Yoongi huffed and went to sit on his chair, staring at the lilies in his hand. Jungkook could smell the remorse and regret radiating off him, which was new. All the years Jungkook had known him, Yoongi never showed such a reaction to anything. Even when he killed the alpha never showed so much as an ounce of regret.
Then they all dealt with only scums in their day-to-day life. Wiping them out was a social service.
Jungkook supposed there was a first time for everything just like how he'd rushed to the mall upon getting the news that paparazzi and fan sites had found out Jimin was there.
Though he knew Yoongi and his team would never let any harm come to the omega, his wolf was edgy and had urged him to go to his omega immediately. He had only relaxed when he saw Jimin. His omega's pleased scent when he said he could dance in the show was everything to him.

He scoffed as he saw the headlines. The media was going crazy ever since they spotted them together. Though his decision to join Jimin was impulsive, he thought it had worked out in their favor. Now the public knew Jimin was his. So did the La Costa Nostra and the Black Mambas. His wolf was pleased.
"You need to try harder than this," he said to Yoongi. "I'll be in my office if you need me."
He exited the control room and headed to his office.
