Beep.

Beep.

The burning stench of disinfectants was the first thing Jimin's mind registered.

Beep.

Beep.

The second was the distinct sound of a machine.

Beep.

Beep.

The third was the pounding headache.

Beep.

Beep.

Jimin cracked his eyes open after several attempts and registered too many things at once. The light was too bright and blinding, the room was full of alpha pheromones that made his omega whine. And he was weak, too weak to move a muscle.

"He's coming around," someone said.

Jimin blinked again, trying to focus on the voice. The tone was gentle though it belonged to an alpha. His brain tried to piece everything together as he slowly came to his senses.

The party.

The attack.

Taehyung.

He gasped; his body jolting up with a cry at the sudden crash of memories.

"It's okay. You're safe," the same voice said. "We got you."

Jimin looked around the room frantically. "TaeTae." His head throbbed. Everything was a blur and it was overwhelming. "T-Taehyung. Kim Taehyung."

His parched throat made it hard to speak. Nausea churned his stomach and he wretched, throwing his body sideways on instinct. Somebody caught him, bringing a steel pan to his mouth and rubbing his back as he emptied the contents of his stomach.

Once done, he was pushed onto his back. A disgusting taste filled his mouth and he dry heaved a few times before settling in his bed, feeling exhausted as ever. Someone wiped his mouth as he fought the urge to sleep again.

"Taehyungie? TaeTae." His voice was barely audible, but he knew they'll be able to hear him with their heightened sense. He tried to move, failing miserably.

"Are you his Omega?" Another voice came from somewhere. This was deep and full of authority that made him want to submit. His omega whined again. However, there was also a sense of security that blanketed him.

What's that scent?

Jimin shook his head; the simple motion left him reeling. "J-JK," he whispered. "F-Favor." His eyes were closing again. "Taehyungie...favor. JK. F-Favor."

And then...nothing.

When Jimin came around again, he was feeling much better. His head didn't feel like it'd explode or his stomach wasn't churning anymore. He blinked his eyes open and licked his chapped lips.

"You're awake," a female voice announced.

There was a flurry of activities he couldn't follow. Soon someone was helping him up. The scent was mild and fragrant, comforting to him. Omega.

"Doctor Kim will be here soon," the nurse said. She lifted something to his mouth. "Drink this. Sip it slowly."

He drank it, thankful for the nourishment. The doctor Kim came while he was still drinking. After some pressing and prodding, he nodded his head to himself.

"Park Jimin," the doctor greeted. "How are you feeling now?"

"Weak," the omega mumbled. He looked around the small but decent room that was super clean with white walls. Oh, how much he hated this colorless environment. "Where's Taehyung?" His gaze flicked to the doctor's face.

"He's still unconscious," the doctor replied. "He lost a lot of blood and he was also injected with some unknown drug."

"He was trying to protect me." An involuntary sob racked his body at that. He remembered everything. "It was them," he whispered. "They injected something during the fight." He covered his face.

Doctor Kim put a hand on his shoulder and he felt his omega calming down immediately. Then he registered the calming pheromones being released by the alpha. "We are doing everything in our ability to cure him. His life is no longer in danger, but his body will have to fight against the drug and push it out of his system."

"T-They gave me something too. I-I don't know. I-It was mixed with water." Jimin grew frantic at the memory. "They...they..." His eyes widened. "JK. I need JK. Taehyung. He-He said...please. I want JK. His phone. I need Taehyung's phone. I need to call JK. I-It's speed dial two. H-He always told me to call JK if something like this happened. I need to call him."

"I'm here." His head whipped to the side, noticing the man he didn't see before.

The alpha was tall with broad shoulders. He wore a dark suit and his dark hair was combed back to stay away from his face. He had the most beautiful features with wide doe-like eyes that looked lethal.

He quickly took in the sharp jawline and the piercings, tattoos peeking from the chest where he had generously left three buttons open. Everything about the alpha screamed authority and his presence alone was commanding. Then the omega noticed the scent.

Sandalwood. It was so soft and warm yet woodsy. It was comforting and incited a sense of familiarity though he never met this alpha before in person.

It's the same scent.

Jimin blinked several times to clear his head. "JK? You're JK?"

The man stepped forward. "Yes, I am."

Jimin let out a sob in relief. "Taehyung. He said...he said you owe him a favor. T-That he wants to cash it now."

The man's features tightened. "Did he mention what it is?"

Jimin shook his head. "N-No." He tried to remember the conversation they had between them before he passed out. "H-He just said I'll be safe."

The alpha's gaze flicked to the doctor's face and something akin to an understanding passed between them.

"Are you his omega?" the doctor asked this time.

Jimin frowned. "He is my pack alpha," he replied. "We share a blood bond, but we aren't romantically involved." He looked between the men.

"A blood bond?" The doctor's eyes narrowed at him. "Can you tell us how that happened?"

Jimin nodded. "We went to school together. There...um...there was an incident at high school. Something happened and um...I was dying. So...he helped me. Gave me blood and later claimed me as his pack. Then a few years ago, he was in an accident. He was injured so I gave him my blood. He said that we were bonded by blood because of this exchange."

The doctor nodded in understanding. "That sort of bond is rare but isn't unheard of," he said. "It's as strong as the one we share with our siblings."

Jimin was aware of this. They were brothers though they didn't have the same mother. Their wolves saw each other as their own blood.

"What were you doing with the Black Mamba?" JK's voice was hard as a stone and his face was an impassive mask with no emotions.

Jimin's omega shifted uncomfortably in his mind though his scent was comforting. "Two years ago, Kang Minhyuk saw me in one of the fashion shows and tried to..." He swallowed the hardball of emotion in his throat. "He didn't like that I refused his gifts and said no to his advances." He stared at his hands on his lap. "H-He tried to..." he drawled, tears burning his eyes. The memory was hard to speak of. "Taehyung saved me both times. Then we moved to Paris." He took a deep breath.

"Here, drink some water." The doctor handed him a refilled cup.

He didn't realize he was shaking until he grabbed the cup. His scent had turned bitter. The room smelled like withered roses.

Jimin mumbled thanks and drank it slowly. It took a while for the shaking of his hands to stop and he breathed in the sandalwood, taking comfort in the unknown alpha, knowing Taehyung trusted this man to keep him safe.

They waited patiently until he was ready to talk again. He drained the glass and handed the empty cup to the doctor before intertwining his hands in his lap.

"I was told it was a charity gala. I-I didn't realize my manager and assistant were in this. T-They drugged me and..." His hands began to shake again. He couldn't help but recall the memory as if it happened a few hours ago. "T-They were supposed to take me somewhere but...t-they were g-going to..." He sobbed, covering his face. "TaeTae...he came. H-He p-protected me again. B-But they drugged him. They hurt him."

The doctor put a comforting hand on his shoulder. His citrusy scent wafted to him. "You're safe now, Jimin. Kim Taehyung is my little brother. I do not know how much he has told you about us, but we are his family. My name is Kim Seokjin. I work for JK."

Seokjin?

He knew that name. Taehyung mentioned it several times and said he was a doctor. His other brother Namjoon was an attorney. He relaxed more.

Jimin looked between the alphas. "He hasn't told me much except that he left his family when he was young to build a life of his own."

A frown tugged at the corner of his lips. Taehyung left because his family was into some illegal business and he didn't want to be a part of it. He swallowed as realization dawned. Taehyung said he will be safe and JK owed him a favor. If he thought that JK could protect him, then he must be someone equally powerful as Kang Minhyuk.

"W-Who are you?" he asked in a wavering voice, his gaze glued to the alpha who introduced himself as JK. "Should I even ask?"

"Our identity isn't exactly a secret," Taehyung's brother said. "This is Jeon Jungkook. The public knows him as the CEO and President of the Jeon Group. The underground, however, knows him as JK, the leader of the Dragons and the self-proclaimed kingpin of the mafia in Asia."

An involuntary shudder ran through Jimin's body and his omega tucked its tail between his legs at the mention of the mafia. Anyone who grew up in the streets of Seoul had known of the Dragons, the most feared gang that practically ruled South Korea. His eyes widened when finally the realization dawned.

Jeon Jungkook.

Now the name was familiar. He'd heard that name several times. He owned one of the popular brands of cell phones and electronic home appliances. Then there was that name JK. Initially, he hadn't pieced it together. But now it all fell into place. This was the JK everyone feared on the streets. The first time he heard that name was when he was in high school.

Oh my God!

He was in the presence of the Jeon Jungkook or should he call JK.

"You have nothing to be afraid of, Jimin." Seokjin squeezed his shoulders gently. His scent must have given his fear away. He averted his gaze to his lap. "You share a blood bond with my brother, which makes you our family. And that brings you automatically under JK's protection."

His gaze flicked to JK again. The alpha was watching him intently and he averted his gaze once more. He didn't know why he felt this way. He couldn't put a finger on it. He was afraid, but that was a natural reaction to an alpha who oozed as much authority as JK. But there was more. A part of him wanted to get closer and bask in that rich scent of sandalwood.

"We will let you rest now." Seokjin patted his shoulder and stepped back. "A nurse will bring you food and medicine. You have been unconscious for the past three days. So let's start with a liquid diet to take it easy on your stomach. I'll come and see you later." He pulled a phone from his pocket. "This is Taehyung's phone. This was in your hand when our men arrived at the hotel. We have the phones we collected from the room, so you can identify yours from them later."

Jimin accepted the phone, immediately unlocking it to find it in good condition. The blood on it had been wiped off. He exhaled in relief.

"Speed dial two is JK as you know already. Three is me and four is Namjoon," the doctor continued. "I assume number one is you?"

Jimin nodded. They were each other's number one on their speed dial. "Can I see Taehyung?"

"Not now. He's in and out of consciousness, but his vitals are stable. You can visit him tomorrow."

His shoulders slumped. "Okay."

Taehyung's brother stepped back with a curt nod. "If you're wondering where you are, you are in our mansion medical wing. You are free to leave the room if you're feeling up to it. But I'd recommend taking someone with you if you don't wanna get lost. We are yet to identify the effects that the drug will leave on your system. So take it easy."

Jimin nodded again. "Thank you for saving us on time."

He watched the alphas leave the room and try to relax. He didn't have to wait for long though because the drowsiness was settling again and he felt his eyes shut.

***

"This isn't how I expected to meet you."

That was the first thing Taehyung heard when he came to his senses. His head throbbed and his entire body ached.

"You were drugged. It weakens a wolf's immunity system and slows the healing process." His brother's handsome features came into focus as he hovered over him. "You scared us to death, Taehyung-ah."

Seokjin fussed with the tubes connected to his body before injecting something into his veins. A sudden cool sensation spread through his veins and he felt the pain reducing to a dull throb.

"Mom wouldn't leave your side. She only left to shower and change." He stood back. "It's good to have you back, brother."

Taehyung opened and closed his mouth, inhaling the familiar scent that comforted his wolf. But something was missing.

"J-Jimin." His throat was parched and his voice was hoarse.

"The omega is safe." Another voice came from his left as the familiar scent of sandalwood invaded his senses.

His wolf yipped weakly inside of him, wanting to greet his childhood friend. His gaze flicked to Jungkook.

The alpha radiated so much authority that Taehyung felt the need to bare his neck. If this were some other alpha, his wolf would have bristled and snarled. But this was his pack alpha. Though he came out of their pack to create one of his own, it didn't change his wolf will always see Jeon Jungkook as his pack alpha and will always be loyal to him.

"Kang Minhyuk has his eyes on that omega," Jungkook continued. "You killed five of his men to protect this omega and you aren't a Dragon. There's nothing I can do without starting a gang war."

"No," Taehyung begged to differ. "You're the only one who can do something."

There was nothing that could get past Jeon fucking Jungkook. He knew they didn't part on good terms. Jungkook took it to his heart when he said he wanted to leave and shut him out. But that didn't mean they'd turn their backs at each other when the other was in need.

Taehyung knew Jungkook wouldn't hesitate to take a bullet for him and vice versa. His friend was angry and bitter. As he should be. He ditched him after all.

"Taehyung-ah..." Seokjin's tone rang with a warning.

Taehyung knew what he was playing with. The mafia operated with strict principles and rules, which they followed. He was an outsider just like Jimin. The blood relation he shared with the Kim family that served for the Jeons was the only thing that was connecting him to this place. That and the debt Jungkook owed him.

"Protect him," he pleaded. "He's gone through hell. His beauty is the bane of his existence. He doesn't deserve this, Jungkook-ah. He deserves to be happy and deserves to be loved."

Jungkook wasn't just his pack alpha, he was also his best friend since childhood. They were once thick as thieves, always doing things together and getting into trouble. But then they drifted apart. Though they drifted apart during their teen years, Taehyung knew Jungkook like the back of his hand.

"I just told you—"

"Mate him," Taehyung interjected. "No one will dare to touch your mate."

"Taehyung-ah..." His mother's gasp was heard from the door.

His gaze barely flicked toward his mother. His attention was on something else. Jimin was in danger. He knew what he was getting into when he stepped into that hotel room. His wolf saw red when he saw what they were about to do to his blood bond and the pack omega. He did what he had to do. He killed them and he had no remorse.

However, facing the consequences was another issue. Deep down he knew what mess they were in. They had no choice and they couldn't keep running. He had to convince Jungkook. Taehyung was ready to fight dirty if it meant to protect his Jimin.

"You owe me your life, Jungkook. I'm holding on to your promise. You're a man of honor. You told me when the time came you'll repay me with anything I demand of you. This is my demand. I expect you to hold your end of the bargain."

A hush of silence fell over the crowd. No one talked to Jungkook like that. No one. Through his blurred vision, he saw a muscle tick in his jaw and fists clenched tight by his sides. He realized his words weren't convincing enough.

He could almost see the wheels turning in Jungkook's head and hear the unspoken words that never left his lips. However, Taehyung couldn't afford to lose this argument.

He knew what Jungkook's weakness was. Unlike what others thought, Jungkook wasn't a heartless wolf. Taehyung knew exactly what to say to change his mind.

"Jiminie..." he continued. "H-He didn't have it easy. He was an orphan who grew up in foster homes. His foster dad...he was abusive." He swallowed. "He didn't have a great childhood." Tears filled Taehyung's eyes. His Jimin had suffered enough. "He...he was a victim of sexual abuse in high school."

Something blocked his throat and he couldn't swallow. He still remembered that unfortunate day. He was on leave because of his rut. Unexpectedly, his rut ended earlier and he was in school the next day. But he wasn't there soon enough.

"I-I wasn't there to protect him. T-They left him to die...those fucking bastards. He was...he was bleeding out." He gritted his teeth. "I-I left because I wanted to kill them and knew our code would never allow me to harm them for a wolf that didn't belong to our pack. I left to protect him. I took him away."

"Taehyung-ah..." He could see the conflict in his brother's eyes.

"I was all he had. The only one he could trust not to take advantage of him. I couldn't leave him behind. My wolf...my wolf saw him as my blood. I felt protective of him and knew that wasn't enough reason to extend our protection to him."

He took a deep breath and wiped his eyes.

"He's my blood bond, my soulmate. I'll do anything to protect him. Even if my life is a price for it, I'm willing to pay," he wheezed. "I killed every wolf that hurt him, ripped them limb to limb, and left no trace. We even left the country and thought we could start over but that fucking Kang..." His chest heaved and features tightened with determination.

"Jimin is the kindest omega you'll ever meet. Anyone who gets to mate him is a fortunate alpha. I'm giving you that honor, Jungkook. Take him as your mate. Protect him."

"What about you?" Jungkook tilted his head to the side.

"I'll join the dragons."

"What if Jimin doesn't want this?" Jungkook asked.

Taehyung swallowed. "I'll talk to him and make him understand."

Jungkook scoffed. "You ask too much, Taehyung. You're trying to protect your pack omega from vile men and yet here you're ready to sell his soul to the devil himself."

Taehyung averted his gaze. "I know."

"Then why?"

"Because I know you won't hurt my Jiminie. You may not be the right person for someone like him, but I know you'll protect him with everything you got and give him a better life. I know you'll treat him right and with you, he will always have a choice."

His face contorted with anger and his sandalwood scent grew spicier. "You want me to mate him, Taehyung. Mating is for life. What choice does that give him?" Jungkook growled. "He'll be stuck with me forever, whether he likes it or not."

Taehyung regarded him for a long moment. "He will have a choice to say yes or no. I know you'll respect his wishes and will never force him to do something he doesn't want to do. I know my request is atrocious, unreasonable even. At least with you, he will know he wouldn't be violated against his will. With you, he wouldn't have to live with that fear every time you step into the same room as him. Please...Jungkook."

"Taehyung-ah, you ask too much of him," Seokjin's voice was soft.

"I have no choice, hyung. Jungkook is twenty-eight and single. He's not seeing any omega and he'll have to mate and sire a child before thirty as per the code. Why not my Jiminie? He's beautiful inside and out. He might not be from our world, maybe too pure even, but you'll never find someone as perfect as him for our Jungkook."

Seokjin sighed exasperatedly. "You don't understand. How can you demand something like this from him just because he owes you? It's his life."

Taehyung averted his gaze with a nod. He knew he was being unreasonable but when it came to Jimin he lacked all sense of remorse. This wasn't working. He'd have to change the strategy. He was cold and calculating when he wanted to be.

"In that case, we will leave." He knew very well what would happen if they left. His family would never allow that. It was Jungkook's duty as the pack alpha to protect him.

"What?" Seokjin's shocked voice told him his plan was working.

"Minhyuk won't stop until he gets his hands on Jiminie. Now I also became his target by killing his men. We just have to disappear." He sighed. "I knew what I was getting into. We will leave as soon as I'm discharged."

"Taehyung-ah..." his brother called helplessly while his mother whimpered.

Their scents were thick in the atmosphere and it was suffocating.

"It's okay, hyung. It was wrong for me to ask him something like this. I understand. Can I see Jimin?"

"He's sleeping. I'll bring him once he's awake."

Taehyung nodded and turned to Jungkook. "Thanks for saving us this time." His gaze slid to Jungkook. "You saved two lives, risking everything for someone who isn't your pack anymore. I'll call it even and relieve you from your debt. It was wrong for me to demand you something like this. Thank you, JK."

He almost smiled, noticing the shift in Jungkook's scent the moment he addressed him as JK. He knew what he was doing, but Taehyung didn't feel a bit guilty for laying out a trap. He firmly believed any alpha who mated his Jiminie was a fortunate motherfucker. Jungkook should be thankful to him.

Jungkook's face was tight with anger andtension. Taehyung could sense a growl building up in his throat. "I'll see youlater." His expression gave nothing away as he pivoted on his heel and left theroom.
