It was finally summer again and I returned to my favorite​ place.

I sit there on a bench in the town as I hear the voices surrounding me, it was a nice day and quite calming to get out and spend some time downtown relaxing, I see a familiar face walking towards me.

"Hey Tekla," I hear the tall blond girl say.

"Hi Mackenzie," I say.

"So how are you?"

"I’m fine, how about you?"

"Oh I’m okay," 

"Hey Mackenzie, do you now anyone by the name 'Paige'?" I ask because I never found out who she was and I was determined because the dream started happening again.

I look at Mackenzie and she looks a little shocked.

"Um... well yeah, why?" she asks.

"Just wondering... may i ask who she is?" I ask and she looks down not answering "Its okay if you dont wanna talk about it" I say and she nods

Me and Mackenzie then go and hang out but we run into David

“David, I guess I never properly introduced you two, David this is Tekla Pettit, Tekla this is David Monroe,” Mackenzie says as me and David shake hands                                                     

The three of us then decide to hang out, and this becomes a usual thing for us.

I walk down the  quiet street with David because Mackenzie left for work.                                          
It was a nice summer day and I could hear the birds in the trees and it was peaceful.    

"So David, do you by any chance know why Mackenzie always wears long sleeves? Whenever I ask her she always changes the subject," I ask considering I’ve never seen her in short sleeves.  

"Oh... uh well she just likes long sleeves," he replies.

"Yeah but she always wears long sleeves, and it’s summer," I mention.

"Maybe you should ask Mackenzie," he says.

I just nod my head yes as we continue walking down the street.

"Tekla~!" I hear Mackenzie yell as she runs towards me.

Me and Mackenzie decided to have a sleepover at my place so we could hang out.                          

She comes in and I show her to the room I stay in.                                                       
In the room there is a nice big bed in the corner with a night table beside it, then on the other side of the room there is a dresser and a mirror.
                      
We hang out and just talk and watch anime, we stay up pretty late and I decide to get us some drinks and a snack.

"Wanna come help me get drinks and a snack?" I ask.

"Sure," she replies getting up.

We walk downstairs and get some drinks, but before I know it I trip over my own feet and spill some water on Mackenzie.

"Oh my god i’m so sorry!" I apologize as I grab her a tea-towel.

"It’s fine," she says drying off her sweater "I’ll head upstairs and change into a different top," she replies.

"Okay," I say as she heads upstairs.

I clean up the water on the floor and get us new drinks and a snack and head upstairs.                                          
I walk into the room to see Mackenzie in a T-shirt looking through her bag for a sweater, I then notice something out of the corner of my eyes and look down to her arms.                                                    
I drop the glasses causing them to shatter...her arms...they had cuts.                                                           
Mackenzie turns around as she pulls the sweater out if her bad and puts it on.

"Tekla you should be more careful,” she starts “Are you okay?" she asks.

"I should be asking you that, what happened to your arms?!" I ask.

"Its nothing, it doesn't matter," she replies going to pick up the glass shards on the floor.

"Thats a lode of bull shit now tell me what happened to your arms!" I demand.

She looks at the floor clearly not wanting to look me in the eyes.

"Mackenzie... did you do this to yourself?" I ask her in a soft quiet voice hoping I was wrong and that she just got into a accident.                                                
She slowly nods her head yes.

"Why?" I ask with tears in my eyes.

She then tells me everything, about the abusive foster father, and her depression, and her self-worth problems, and everything else.

"Mackenzie...it’s gonna be okay, I’m here to help... I promise I will help you, you will be okay, I promise," I promise her.

Mackenzie then smiles lightly and gives me a hug and I hug back.

We then continue on with our night before we both pass out.

"Mackenzie please wake up," I say as I try to get up but can't because Mackenzie decided to put her torso on my legs so I can’t move.

"Mmm, potato," she mumbles.

"Come on get up," I complain pushing her, causing her to fall of the bed onto the ground.

"Owww," I hear her cry dramatically.   

"And now you wake up," I say.

"You didn't have to push me off the bed," she complains.  

"I kinda did," I replied.

She just mumbles something and gets back up on the bed.

"David wanted to hang out with us today," she mentions.

"Nooooooooooooo," I begged dramatically not wanting to leave my house.

"Okay I'll tell him we're busy," she replies.

We then decide to watch anime and spend most of the day at my place.

I hear Mackenzie's phone ring and she answers it.

"Hey dude whats up?" She asks.

If i’m right it’s her brother.

"Wait slow down, what did you say?" She asks again into the phone.

Mackenzie then looks like she’s ready to fight someone.

"That son of a bitch!" She yells "I'll be there A.S.A.P.," she says before hanging up.

"What was that all about?" I ask.

"Daniel did something he is going to regret," she explains before she hops off the bed "I have to go but I will call you later," she mentions as she grabs her bag and leaves.

I then sit there in silence wondering what happened.

'That Goddamn son of a bitch, he will pay, he can't just go around doing shit like that!' I think as I run down the street.                                                             
I get to my house and run inside to find my sisters sitting by the door horrified.

"Macky!" Abby, my youngest sister who is only 7, yells as she hugs me.

Then Kalika, my other sister who is only 10, hugs me to.

"Girls where is Liam?" I ask.

They point upstairs and I look at them.

"Stay here, and if Daniel comes down leave and head to David place," I say.

They nod their heads and I head upstairs, I walk up the creaky stairs of the old house and down the hall as I go into my brothers room to find him lying on the floor crying.

"Bud, are you okay?" I asks I give him a hug.

"It's Daniel, he tried to hurt the girls, he's really mad," Liam, my brother who is only 11, replies.

I then feel someone grab the back of my shirt and pull me to my feet causing me to have to let go of my brother.

"You little rat, where the hell have you been!?" I hear Daniel yell at me.

"I told you I went to a friends house!" I yell back struggling to get free.

"I never said you could go! You're such a pain in the ass, you're almost as bad as Paige!" He yells at me.

I signal for my brother to get himself and are sisters out of here, I then get free of his grip.

"Don’t talk about Paige that way you bastard!" I yell at him.

I then feel a cool hard hand hit my face.

"Shut your mouth you little bitch, you should respect me!" He yells.

He then hits me again, and again, over and over, the pain striking my whole body causing me to fall to the ground, it was nothing new, I was use to it, the only problem was that he tried to hurt the kids.                                                             
I sit there not moving as he leaves the room as I let out a few tears.
