CHATER FOUR.
CHAPTER FOUR:
oops! sacrifice gone wrong, part two.
One could argue that Beacon Hills Preserve is a cemetery more than a camping ground. Travel guides coax out of towner's to travel to the deep forest, highlighting its 'wonderful lustrous trees' and 'beautiful sparkling creek'. All of them ignoring the bodies that litter the floor, the corpse that have long decomposed into the very dirt that people set their tents on.
Two electricians found themselves driving alongside the very forest, mindlessly listening to the chatter of the radio. A tree fell and took part of a powerline down with it leaving some housing in Beacon Hill's without light. The two, much to their dismay, were assigned to fix it.
"Yo! Dude, did you see that?" Jason exclaims, his green eyes wide.
"What?" Clark yells, he tries to regain control of the steering wheel after being startled. "Don't yell like that when I'm driving!"
Jason shakes his head. "Bro there was girl back there?" He tells him, turning his body to look behind them. His brown eyes can just make out a nude figure.
Clark smirks. "Is she cute?"
Jason still looking behind them, hits his friends arm. "Nah dude, I think she needs help. It kinda looks like she's limping or something."
Clark tries to look behind him, the car veering into the other lane.
"Dude!" Jason exlaims, grabbing the wheel and setting them back into the lane. "Just turn around, we should probably go help her."
Clark shrugs. "We get paid either way," he says casually before making a u-ey. He let's out a whistle as they drive closer to the girl, his eyes drinking in her nude body.
"Hey Miss!" Jason calls out, hanging out the passenger window. "Hey are you alright?"
"Maybe she doesn't want to be bothered," Clark observes, watching as the girl stares straight ahead and continues walking.
"What if something happened to her?" Jason asks, his tone full of worry.
Clark rolls his eyes. "Like what?"
Jason hesitates. "You know..."
Clark smirks, looking over the girl once more. "Could you blame them?"
"That's not funny dude!" The green-eye brunet exclaims.
Clark rolls his eyes, hitting the breaks and putting the car in park.
"What are you doing?"
"I'm gonne go talk to her," the red-head slams his door shut.
Jason watches as his co-worker walks over to her.
Clark gently approaches the girl. "Hey, are you alright?" Clark asks dryly.
The girl ignores him and keeps walking, tree leaves crunching beneath her bare feet.
Fueled by inpatience, the red-head grips her shoulder and pushes her to face him. "Hey, I'm talking to you!"
"Dude! Stop!" Jason yells, getting out of the car and rushing over to them.
The girl finally makes contact with the two, her dark eyes sparkling under the moonlight. "I'm hungry," she whispers, her voice light and airy.
She grabs the back of Clark's head and slams it against her lifted knee, watching his body fall flat to the floor. She lands a punch onto his chest, the sound of his spine cracking aending a shiver of pleasure down her own. She throws a leg over him, placing herself into a straddling position before grabbing his face and putting it close to hers. She places her mouth right in front of his, sucking out his life force. Once satisfied she throws her head back, letting the energy soak into her body. She looks down at the rotted and decaying corpse that just seconds ago was a living breathing human. She turns to look at the other guy, giving him a smirk.
"Run," she whispers, watching as the guy runs back to the car and atruggles to open up the door.
She slowly walks towards him in an almost seductive manner. Her brown eyes watching the sweat drip down his forehead. A chuckle escapes her mouth as she slams him to the floor, the crunch of bones harmonizing with the screams that leave his mouth.
"Please, please don't do this!" Jason begs, his body paralyzed by the force of her slaming him.
"I'm so sorry."
"Hey," Scott greets Stiles, his spastic friend who's standing around and looking oddly suspicious.
The jittery brunet whips his body around, stumbling over his balance. "C'mon," he ushes, wasting no time in reentering the morgue. "You gotta see this." He pulls the covers off the body of the teenager on the table.
Scott shivers, his eyes examining the bloody corpse, the very obvious line going across his neck. "He was strangled?"
Stiles nods silently.
"So... Boyd and Cora might not have killed anyone?"
Stiles takes in a deep breath. "You're gonna wish they did," he sighs.
Scott's face twists in confusion. "Why?"
"Because the other girl, the one they found in the woods... Emily, she's one of them. Emily, Gwen, the guy Lydia found at the pool-- they all have the same three injuries: strangled, throat slashed, heath bashed in. It's called the three fold death."
"So... if these killings aren't random killings then what are they?"
"Sacrifices, human sacrifices."
Scott's eyes widen, looking around the morgue at the two bodies.
"There's... one more thing," Stiles fumbles with his hands. "Gwen, her body... it's missing."
"What? Where did it go?"
"They don't know, they checked the cameras and its been playing on a loop for the past 24-hours."
"How is that possible?"
"I... have a theory," Stiles says, before making eye contact with Scott. "The other two sacrifices, both of them were virgins which is like sacrifice 101, you know?"
Scott nods.
"Gwen wasn't."
"So what are you saying?" Scott asks, his puppy eyes glazed over as he tries to follow along. "That they sacrified the wrong person.
Stiles slowly bobs his head up and down. "Yeah and I think whoever is doing it figured that out..."
"And took the body," Scott concludes.
Stiles sighs, throwing his hands to his sides. "Yeah, look Scott, her mom was my mom's best friend. Gwen was my best friend, my dad adored her and now... we can't even put her to peace."
Scott lays his hand on his friend's shoulder. "We'll find who's doing this," he promises.
"Yeah," Stiles agrees reluctantly, because he knew that this was far more than anything they ever dealt with before and that there was only so much they could do.
After all, they were just kids.
NOTES.
my chapter legnths are so inconsistent lmfao
i rewrote the beginning of the chapter twice because i just couldn't seem to capture the ominous vibe i wanted to depict.
tbh i had a solid idea on what i wanted gwen to be but then i just got another idea and now i am torn so we'll see what happens.
