"THIS IS YOU NIGHT TONIGHT! EVERYTHING GONNA BE. ALRIGHT!" Hannah and I sung along to the radio. This is our jam, and we always sung it after a stressful day. Kool and the Gang were our favorite. We were in the bathroom jumping around in our bras and underwear getting ready to go out tonight. It was a really nice night tonight. I'm feeling some really positive vibes from tonight.
"Alright girl, tonight is gonna be amazing." She said finishing up her makeup. Hannah was a beauty. She was about 5'7" and she had the cutest petite body. Her abs were to die for. Her makeup was always beat to the heavens.
She had loved my Viva Glam lipstick from last year when I was endorsing it. She wears it all the time. She got dressed.
"Yaaaassss, slay babydoll slay." I was wagging my finger at her. She was striking poses, being fierce.
"Girl, put on your clothes so we can go." She laughed at me. I groaned and got dressed. Which took a while because this dress was latex.
After struggling to get in that dress. We left the house and rode off to the club.
We arrive at The Taste and it was pure pandemonium. It was full of commotion and cars were thick in the streets. It was a smaller nightclub compared to first avenue but it was way more packed.
"The Taste books different dance bands four nights a week and then hosts a Variety Night the remaining two. All the newest talent come here, from comedians, to dancers, even jugglers flock to Variety Night to try their material in front of a live audience ." Hannah said as we walked inside the club. She was border line a talent scout.
"That's cool. Hey i'm gonna go find a bathroom."
"Oh i'll come with yo-"
"NO!!" I shouted. "I mean no, you should find us a table since it's packed in here. So it can't be many left." I smiled nervously. She looked at me for a bit, nodded her head in agreement, and then left. As soon as she got far enough away, I sighed in relief.
I proceed to find Morris, which is really hard considering i'm really short and there are a ton of people in here. When I finally find a open area where I can breathe, and actually have a good view of the club. Suddenly a clown passes me, stops, and handed me a flower. I smiled and went back to looking around for Morris and his big ass head. The Clown tapped me and handed me another flower.
"Thank you." I smiled and went back to what I was doing. This clown was creeping me out just a little bit. The clown was still in front of me and I was trying to ignore the guy in a polite way. The clown is a persistent little shit, however, going through a little routine, handing me flower after flower. I was growing pretty irritated with this guy. Flower after flower after flower and I still couldn't find Morris.
"Dude take a hint!" I shouted. I threw the flowers in the air, grabbed the clown by the throat and flung him away from me.
"Bitch." The clown yelled in a really deep voice. He gave me the finger and walks off in a huff. I put my hand over my heart. just a tad offended. I looked towards the bar and saw a crowd of women. He's got to be there. I made my way there and sure enough it was him. I grabbed him by his shirt and tilted him down and whispered in his ear.
"What." He leaned up and looked at me as if he was confused.
"What?" he said.
"Right. What." I winked slowly.
"What??" He squinted at me.
"You got it." I said.
"I got it?" I sighed heavily and smacked him in the back of the head. I pointed over towards the tables and he looked.
"Ooohh" He tapped his ear and licked his pinkies and rubbed his eyebrows. "aye Jasmyn...what time is it?"
"Man, shut yo dumbass up and come on." I grabbed his ear and pulled him away. "Got me running all over this place tryna find you, clowns bothering me and shit, why the hell is a clown here anyway." I mumbled angrily to myself. When we got close, I let go of his ear. Hannah was sitting alone at the table nodding her head to the beat.
"Hey girl, sorry it took so long I ran into this guy." I smiled and tried to sit down but Morris took my seat. I shot him a glare.
"Hey Morris." she smiled and put her hand out. He took it and kissed it. I started to walk off but I Morris called me back.
"Oh Jasmyn, have the waitress bring a bottle of their best champagne." I put on a fake smile and turned to walk off but stopped when we were shoulder to shoulder.
"Your horns are showing Morris." I fought through to the bar got the champagne and came back.
"Here you go." I forced a smile on my face.
"Maybe you should pour us some, Jasmyn." He was staring at her.
"Sure." I said through gritted teeth. I popped the top and pointed it Morris's way and spilled as much of it as I could on him. "Oh my, i'm sorry." I grabbed a napkin and patted his coat and I gave him the dirtiest look and we had a whisper argument.
"You betta stop."
"Your supposed to leave us alone."
"I'm not a damn waiter."
"I payed you."
"Fifty bucks ain't shit."
"So, your gonna fuck up the plan?"
"Morris E. Day I swear to god if you-"
"Thank you babydoll." He lifted my hand off him by my wrist and picked up the champagne and tried to do a classy taste test.
"Jasmyn, tell them to keep the change." He handed me a the money and I started to walk off, but he pulled me back and whispered.
"Get my change will ya." and he patted my shoulder as I grumbled ungodly things at him through my teeth. I payed and kept his change, his ass owed me. I tucked the money into my bra and walked back towards the table.
I took a seat on the side and ordered my Virgin Pina Colada.
"Oh Lord, either somebody put somethin' in my drink or your the finest muhfucka i've seen in ages." Morris said after he took a larger gulp of his glass.
"Excuse me, what did you say." Hannah's smile dropped and her eyebrow raised.
"Huh?... you look nice tonight." He corrected himself. I rolled my eyes. The waiter came towards the table and tapped me on the shoulder.
"Your drink." he said as he handed me my glass. I payed him without taking my eyes off them and tried to put my straw in my mouth without looking. Morris looked a little tense, you could tell by the way he was drinking. He was already buzzed and we just got here.
"It's rare that I out my cards on the table when it comes to talking to young ladies, but ..." He drunkly propped his arm on the table and leaned in. "I'm gonna make you love me."
"Is that a fact." Hannah sipped her drink.
He folds his legs dramatically, his Stacy Adams reflecting the light. "Just as sure as my Stacy Adams are shiny."
Just then Chris walks up.
"Hey baby" and kissed her forehead. I started drooling naturally because I mean Chris is just.... lord Morris ain't got nothing on Chris. All 6'2" of Chris.
"Hey baby" she squealed and jumped up to hug him. I looked over at Morris, his face was clam but his eyes were huge. I sucked on my drink harder because this was getting good.
"Aye man, what's up Morris still up to no good." He stuck out his arm, but still had one arm wrapped around Hannah's waist. He flashed his million dollar smile. Which made me miss Michael no doubt. God, Michael's smile could stop a war, if it really wanted to. Watching them be a cute couple made me miss him even more. I snapped out of my thought and saw Chris leaving the table. Hannah sat down beaming.
"He doesn't like girls." Morris blurted out immediately.
"I know... he likes women." She sipped her drink confidently. I busted up into laughter because Morris's face dropped. Chris came back with several rounds of drinks and sat them on table. He picked up Hannah, took her seat, and sat her in his lap. Michael used to do that too.
"Let's get this party started." Hannah screamed as she took a shot.
It was 4:00 in the morning and I was walking back into the house. I'm drunk. Drunk as shit. I have no balance I'm all over the place. Chris dropped me off and him and Hannah went back out. I was done for the night. When I walked in my room Prince was there. How the hell did get into the house. He was sitting on the corner of my bed in my room. He looked at me deep into my eyes and immediately started going off.
"You know what. I'm sick of this shit. I know you were out with Morris. You were all up on Morris weren't you." Where the fuck is this coming from ?
Now I'm drunk I don't want to respond because I'm rocking back and forth. You don't look believable when your rocking back and forth. So I chose a stance in which I looked believable. I stood in a side lunge-ish position.
"Lemme tell you something. Ok. Listen to me." I drunkly put my hands up. "Wouldn't nobody with no Morris. Your wrong. As a matter a fact to prove you wrong. I'm gonna call Hannah. Hannah not expecting me to call right now. So Hannah ain't got no reason to lie. And! I'm gonna put it on speaker phone. Bout' to make you feel stupid." I fell on the ground trying to make my way to the phone. I crawled to the table and felt around the nightstand and grabbed the phone. "Watch this. Watch how fucking stupid you feel. Watch. Watch this." I dialed her number and put her on speakerphone.
"Hannah! Hannah! Real quick don't lie. Where we coming from right now."
Let's stop right there. Let's just stop right there for a second. What does that mean? Lie. That means lie right now. That mean Prince got the drop on us. My back is against the wall. This is not a test. It's the real deal. Help me. Help. Me. Bitch. Help me.
Her speech was slurred and she was just as drunk as I was. So she yelled into the phone. "Guurrllll. You was with that cute light skinned brotha."
My heart dropped into my ass. What! Oh no. No no no no no no. Oh no. No no no no no no no no. Why was I so fucking scared? Maybe it's all these damn mood swings he's been having. He's not my boyfriend. He can't be mad. But the way he got quiet I wasn't so sure. Prince is gonna kill me. He's gonna fucking kill me. I wasn't even with Morris, his mopey ass sat at the table all night sucking up all the liquor. This crazy bitch just described her boyfriend. I looked up at him and his face dropped. I hoisted myself up using the nightstand. I started backing up in a defensive stance.
"Look I know what it sounds like but I wasn't wit-" he cut me off by him lunging at me savagely. His hand lashes out and he slapped me across the face. I fell back and crashed into the mirror. I slipped limply to the floor and tried to pick myself up on the chair. Meanwhile Prince looked horrified.
"I'm sorry! Oh Jasmyn, I'm sorry! Are you alright." He helped me up. And I snatched away from him. "Leave me alone." I started crying.
"Please...it's just. I don't want you around this at all. I just don't want you in my life this way. Jasmyn?, you don't have to prove anything to me or anybody else. Jasmyn....? Please." He said caressing the cheek he hit.
"Your not my boyfriend. So why do you care?" I sniffled.
"Do you know Morris? Do you know what he's about. He doesn't care about you." He tried to grab my chin but I moved my away viciously.
"At least he hasn't put his hands on me." And with that I pushed him away. I grabbed my purse and left.
Then I came back in because I realized that this is my place. I kicked him out, sure enough by threatening to call the police.
