Hey guys, Colton (colcot) here. I'm excited to announce this new project I've been working on, and I hope it spreads quickly throughout this site as I really feel it would help the community for both the readers and writers.

Have you ever read a book for the first time and thought... Wait, have I read this before? Unfortunately, a large chunk of books on Wattpad lack an extremely important ingredient any book must require to be successful—creativity. Sometimes it feels like a direct copy of another source with the names swapped or may even be an actual word-for-word copy of another book as if they had just decided to copy and paste the story! We've all seen it.

To sugarcoat it, that's lazy on the author's part. If you're going to be a writer, you need to stop and personally create each and every one of your characters as well as the story surrounding them. Now, of course, I'm not saying that everything must be "original." With this day and age, it's hard to truly think of a 100% original plot, as most storylines have already been used. We can't all be the mastermind behind such great who-the-hell-would-have-thought-of-that works such as Sharknado (Note my sarcasm). There is absolutely nothing wrong with creating a story in a similar setting of which books and/or movies have already explored. However, the way you dive into that story—as well as your characters—that is what can truly make it an original work.

So what is Project Refresh you ask? Or perhaps you just read the title.

Well, it's pretty self-explanatory. If you see the #ProjectRefresh symbol on the cover of a book, it's an easy way to distinguish that the book offers some form of originality! Whether it is the synopsis, well structured characters, a shocking plot twist, etc. Those qualities, just to name a few, are what really make a book memorable and refreshing. This was a program specifically designed to help fellow readers and writers on Wattpad and to make it overall easier to tell which works are original just by a quick glance at the cover.
