Why?

Why is it so easy for one to take the life of another, but so hard for one to simply love a brother?

We are all humans, we all have the beating of our hearts, so why?

Why can we simply not unite to overcome this pain?

Why can we simply not unite to love instead of hate?

Why can we simply not unite to live instead of die?

Why is it so hard for us to accept?

For when the clock ticks, and our hearts beat,
For when our eyes open, and our minds learn,
We forget how easy it is, to simply be.

To simply exist, without the impending destruction waging within our broken hearts and unloving minds.

We allow our greed to overcome our righteousness,

We allow our lust to overcome our love,

And our wrath to overcome our humanity.

We are controlled by the unforgiving damnation of our own decisions,

We allow our wrong to envelop our right,

And our dark to destroy our light.

Who are we, to decide who lives and who dies?

Who are we, to decide who eats and who starves?

Who are we, to decide who exists and who does not?

Tell me now, who are we, to play God in a world we do not fully understand?

Why do we chose to kill and hurt, when we can choose to love and care?

We caused an entire generation,
To perish in flames and destruction.

Do you not see? Even the skies cry for our mistakes.

For we chose.

We chose who lived,

And we chose who died.
We chose destruction,
And death,

Over prosperation and life.

For we played God, when we had no right to.

We chose, and we will pay.

For the ticking of the clock, and the beating of a heart.

With the bang of a gun,

And the cries of loved ones,

We lose a battle,

The cost is the lives of those
Who had nothing to do with this fight.

For we chose.

And we will choose still,

Death over life,

Hate over love,

And suffering over salvation.
