The Asylum Wing
After waiting in the- get this- waiting room for what seemed like forever, Clayton finally came back from seeing the doctor. When we saw him, we all stood, getting ready to go.
"So?" Atlanta asked. "What's going on?"
"We will allow you to see her one at a time in the questioning room-"
"Wait, questioning room?" Kat interrupted. "Like, as in the same kind of room they interrogate criminals in?"
Clayton didn't answer. Instead he said, "Come on, now. Let's take you to see Doctor Jiles."

I have to say, out of all the surprising things of that day, the most surprising was the doctor, Matthew Jiles. He was very young- try ten- and talked like he knew everything and had all the answers to any of your questions. He was shorter than all of us by at least a head, and he strutted around like a peacock in his white jacket. I don't think I need to spell it out, but I'm going to anyway: I did not like that boy. He was just like a teenager boy, but with more of a feminine, sassy flare. He used hand gestures a lot, stomped his foot in frustration, and acted as if the world adored him. For being such a smart kid, the guy was an idiot.
"Hello," he greeted us. "I'm Doctor Matthew Jiles, but you can call me Doctor Jiles."
"I feel so privileged," Atlanta muttered.
"You're name is Matthew?" Kat asked.
Doc looked very upset about not being addressed by his title. "Yes."
"You know, 'Doctor Jiles' is too formal for me. How about Matt?" Robyn suggested.
"Matty," Kat put in.
"Matty Boy," I said.
We all grinned, silently agreeing on this new nickname.
"We'll send you in one at a time," Matty Boy continued as he began to walk down the hospital halls. "We don't want to overwhelm her. She's only had contact with a few nurses and myself." He had a very smug look on his face, as if he were so spacial to have contact with someone who had very little interaction. They are probably his only friends, I thought.
He turned to me and cocked his head. "Extraordinary. You look very much like her."
"Okay, Matty Boy," I said, ignoring him. I hadn't really gotten a good look at the girl, and I wanted to be the one to decide if we looked alike or not. "Which of us first?"
We came to a pair of doors labeled: Asylum Wing.
"'Asylum Wing,'" Atlanta read. "As in an insane asylum?"
"Her mental state is very unpredictable. We've only had her in our custody for a few hours, and we are still assessing some of the damage."
"You're going to let us talk one-on-one, by ourselves, to a girl is potentially insane?" Kat asked in disbelief. "I think you need to be in here, Doctor Matty Boy."
We walked through the doors and down the hall as Matty Boy said, "Stop calling me that! And you won't be alone."
"But you said you would send us in one at a time," I reminded him.
"Yes, but it's much like she said." He jerked his thumb towards Kat. "The room you will be in will be much like the interrogation rooms in a police station."
"So there's a mirror in there that you can see through into the room, but those inside just see their reflection," Robyn said, catching on.
"Precisely," he said as he came to a set of green doors right next to each other. The one of the left had a small window, but the other one didn't. Doc Matt opened the door on the left and everyone filed in.
The room was warm and looked much like a waiting room. A soda machine stood in the corner, humming softly. Next to that was a vending machine, and next to that was a large stack of snacks. On the other wall were two large, navy blue sofas. The wall the Sofa's were against was made of glass, allowing us to see into the room that I guessed the other door led to.
The other room looked just like an interrogation room. It had the table, the chair on each side of the table, and even the No Smoking sign painted on the wall. It was empty, but I knew in a few short minutes the girl from the lake would be sitting in one chair with one of us in the other.
Doctor Matty Boy clapped his hands. "So, who want's to go first?"
Before I could stop myself, I raised my hand, and my friends all looked at me like I should be the one locked up in the asylum.
"Alright the," Matty Boy said happily. "Looks like you'll get to meet your doppelganger. I'll send her in."
Author's Note: Yes, I know, I know. I'm getting too short with the chapters, but I don't have time and I need to update. And sorry if there's lots of mistakes. I had to sneek onto Wattpad today. What do you think the girl's going to say?
Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
