Prologue
The man stood in front of the huge window, his hands clasped tightly behind his back. He was staring out at the town below him, just watching as patrols of soldiers ran down streets and alleys, shoving past pedestrians as they searched. The sky above was dark with heavy clouds but they moved quickly in the wind.
To anyone else, the scene would have looked like some sort of dystopian nightmare, but to the man, it signified control. The control he had of the outpost.
And control was important if he was to defeat their enemies and finish what they had started.
"Sir!" A captain cried, running into the office the man was standing in. "The spy was just spotted down Brick Lane!" The man did not turn, only nodded.
"Good," he said. "I want you to bring him in alive. I have some questions for him."
"But sir," the captain protested. "He's Flame! Who knows what he was seen? We should eliminate him!" The man rolled his eyes and sighed. Sometimes these soldiers could be so caught up on revenge that they forgot the true battle to be fought. This was a war of information just as it was a war of guns. The spy was the key to that information.
"You will bring the spy in alive, captain," the man said coldly, turning to face the soldier. "If you do that, then what he's seen shouldn't be a problem, should it?"
"But-"
"Captain, you will do as you have been ordered and not argue!" the man roared. "This is far from your understanding and pay grade. Do you understand?" The captain gulped.
"Yes, sir," he said, his voice shaking slightly. "Sorry, sir."
"Now go," the man ordered. "Catch the spy before he escapes or bleeds out. There are important things that I must discuss with him." The captain saluted before running off again to relay the orders to the men.
The man turned back to the window and glanced below him at the next patrol of soldiers marching out from the great doors beneath his feet. That spy wouldn't last long out there now, but the man knew not to underestimate the Flame.
After all, he had before and it had cost him greatly. He would not let them do it again. He would not let the Flame win this war.
He would not let them stop the Unity's road to total control.

So that's the prologue done! Let me know what you think of this story so far! You'll meet the main characters in chapter 1. This and the previous chapter were more context chapters than anything else. Generally, my chapter lengths should be about 1000-3000 words depending on how important the scenes they hold are.
Okay then, don't forget to vote and comment!
Love y'all!
