Kaposi sarcoma

Kaposi sarcoma is a cancer that causes lesions (abnormal tissue) to grow in the skin; the mucous membranes lining the mouth, nose, and throat; lymph nodes; or other organs. The lesions are usually purple and are made of cancer cells, new blood vessels, red blood cells, and white blood cells.

Kidney Cancer

Kidney cancer is a malignant tumour that starts in the cells of thekidney. Malignant means that it can spread, or metastasize, to other parts of the body. The kidney is part of the urinary system. The kidneys are on either side of the backbone, deep inside the upper part of the abdomen.

Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis

Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) is a rare disease involving clonal proliferation of Langerhans cells, abnormal cells deriving from bone marrow and capable of migrating from skin to lymph nodes.

Laryngeal cancer

Laryngeal cancer is a disease in which malignant (cancer) cells form in the tissues of the larynx. Use of tobacco products and drinking too much alcohol can affect the risk of laryngeal cancer. Signs and symptoms of laryngeal cancer include a sore throat and ear pain.

Leukemia

A malignant progressive disease in which the bone marrow and other blood-forming organs produce increased numbers of immature or abnormal leukocytes. These suppress the production of normal blood cells, leading to anemia and other symptoms.

Lip and Oral Cavity Cancer

Lip and oral cavity cancer is a disease in which malignant (cancer) cells form in the lips or mouth. The oral cavity includes the following: The front two thirds of the tongue. The gingiva (gums).

Liver Cancer (Primary)

Primary liver cancer is rare but increasing in the UK. The most common type is called hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

Lung cancer

Lung cancer is the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells that start off in one or both lungs; usually in the cells that line the air passages. The abnormal cells do not develop into healthy lung tissue, they divide rapidly and form tumors.

Lymphoma

It is the cancer that is found in the lymph nodes.

Macroglobulinemia, Waldenström

Waldenström's macroglobulinemia (WM, also known as lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma) is cancer affecting B cells, a type of white blood cell. The main attributing antibody is immunoglobulin M (IgM). WM is an "indolent lymphoma," (i.e., one that tends to grow and spread slowly).

Male Breast Cancer

A breast cancer is a malignant tumor that starts from cells of thebreast. A malignant tumor is a group of cancer cells that may grow into (invade) surrounding tissues or spread (metastasize) to distant areas of the body. Breast cancer occurs mainly in women, but men can get it, too.

Malignant Fibrous Histiocytoma of Bone and Osteosarcoma

Rarely, osteosarcoma may be found in soft tissue or organs in the chest or abdomen. Osteosarcoma is the most common type of bonecancer. Malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH) of bone is a rare tumor of the bone. It is treated like osteosarcoma.

Melanoma

a tumor of melanin-forming cells, typically a malignant tumor associated with skin cancer.

Merkel Cell Carcinoma

Merkel cell carcinoma is a rare type of skin cancer that usually appears as a flesh-colored or bluish-red nodule, often on your face, head or neck. Merkel cell carcinoma is also called neuroendocrinecarcinoma of the skin. Merkel cell carcinoma most often develops in older people.

Mesothelioma, Malignant

Malignant mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer that affects the thin cell wall lining of the body's internal organs and structures. This lining is known as the mesothelium.

Metastatic Squamous Neck Cancer with Occult Primary

Metastatic squamous neck cancer with occult primary is a disease in which squamous cell cancer spreads to lymph nodes in the neck and it is not known where the cancer first formed in the body.

Squamous cells are thin, flat cells found in tissues that form the surface of the skin and the lining of body cavities such as the mouth, hollow organs such as the uterus and blood vessels, and the lining of the respiratory (breathing) and digestive tracts. Some organs with squamous cells are the esophagus, lungs, kidneys, and uterus. Cancer can begin in squamous cells anywhere in the body and metastasize (spread) through the blood or lymph system to other parts of the body.

Midline Tract Carcinoma Involving NUT Gene

NUT midline carcinoma, abbreviated NMC, is a rare genetically defined, very aggressive that usually arises in the midline of the body and is characterized by a in the . In approximately 75% of cases, the coding sequence of NUT on is fused to or , which creates a chimeric gene that encodes the BRD-NUT fusion protein. The remaining cases, the fusion of NUT is to an unknown partner gene, usually called NUT-variant.

Mouth Cancer

Mouth cancer, also known as oral cancer, is where a tumour develops on the surface of the tongue, mouth, lips or gums. Tumours can also occur in the salivary glands, tonsils and the pharynx (the part of the throat from your mouth to your windpipe) but these are less common.

Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Syndromes, Childhood

Multiple endocrine neoplasia syndromes can appear in infants or in people as old as age 70. These syndromes are usually inherited.

They occur in three patterns, called types 1, 2A, and 2B, although the types occasionally overlap. The tumors and the abnormally large glands often produce excess hormones. Although tumors or abnormal growth may occur in more than one gland at the same time, changes often take place over time.

They are caused by inherited genetic mutations. A single gene responsible for type 1 disease has been identified. Abnormalities in a different gene have been identified in people with types 2A and 2B disease.

Multiple Myeloma/Plasma Cell Neoplasm

Multiple myeloma. Multiple myeloma cellsare abnormal plasma cells (a type of white blood cell) that build up in the bone marrow and form tumors in many bones of the body. Normal plasma cells make antibodies to help the body fight infection and disease.

Mycosis Fungoides

Mycosis fungoides, also known as Alibert-Bazin syndrome or granuloma fungoides, is the most common form of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma. It generally affects the skin, but may progress internally over time. Symptoms include rash, tumors, skin lesions, and itchy skin.

Myelodysplastic Syndromes

Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) are conditions that occur when the blood-forming cells in the bone marrow are damaged. This damage leads to low numbers of one or more types of blood cells.

Myelodysplastic/Myeloproliferative Neoplasms

Myelodysplastic syndromes are a group of diseases in which the bone marrow does not make enough healthy mature red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets. In myeloproliferative disorders, the body overproduces (makes too many of) 1 or more types of blood cells (red blood cells, white blood cells or platelets).

 Myelogenous Leukemia, Chronic

Chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) is cancer that starts inside bone marrow. This is the soft tissue in the center of bones that helps form all blood cells. CML causes an uncontrolled growth of immature cells that make a certain type of white blood cell called myeloid cells.

Myeloid Leukemia, Acute (AML)

Adult acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a type of cancer in which the bone marrow makes abnormal myeloblasts (a type of white blood cell), red blood cells, or platelets. Leukemia may affect red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets.

Myeloma, Multiple

Multiple myeloma is a cancer that affects plasma cells, a kind of white blood cell found in the soft insides of your bones, called marrow. Plasma cells are part of your body's immune system. They make antibodies to help fight off infections.

Myeloproliferative Neoplasms, Chronic

Chronic myeloproliferative neoplasms are diseases in which the bone marrow makes too many red blood cells, platelets, or certain white blood cells. Myelodysplastic syndromes are a group of cancers in which immature blood cells in the bone marrow do not mature or become healthy blood cells.
