The Patches

I started the project in mid May, I remember it was in Eid when I got all the colours that I wanted from my aunt. I completed the project on 22 June 2021. So, it took me 1 ½ month +- to complete. I give credit to WFH policy for making this possible.

Colours

The project requires the following colours to make the cardigan:-

🔴 Red

🟠 Orange

🟢 Green

🟡 Yellow

⚫ Black

However, red and black are the colours that mostly used in this project for several purposes:-

1. to make its respective coloured patches

2. to also combine both colours to make red/black combo patches

3. red to create the hem, cuffs and collar

4. black for sewing the patches to create the patchwork

For this project, I used:-

1. Bright Red – 2 skeins (If I use 1 type of red colour, I might need 3 skeins)

2. Deep Red – 1 skein (I was running out of bright red, so I had to use this colour)

3. Bright Orange – 1 skein

4. Persimmon Peach Orange – 1 skein (my bright orange was running out fast, so I had to use this colour)

5. Irish Green (I can't think of another way to describe this green) – 1 skein

6. Sunflower Yellow – 1 skein (If I use 1 type of yellow colour, I might need 2 skeins)

7. Mustard Yellow – 1 skein (my yellow was running out fast, so I had to use this colour)

8. Black – 3 skeins

The number of patches made for this project:-

♦️ Red – 15 patches

♦️ Orange – 15 patches

♦️ Green – 13 patches

♦️ Yellow – 16 patches

♦️ Black – 16 patches

♦️ Red/Black – 15 patches

TOTAL : 90 patches

Patches, Skeins, Stitch Patterns

Each patch is measured at 10cm x 14 cm.

The number of patches per colour differ from Tutorial 1 and 2. But generally, they proposed 78 patches altogether. I however, made 90 patches to accommodate my height i.e. 5 ft 7. I don't like the hem to sit around my bum, I like the extra length to cover them.

Stitch Patterns I used:-

Even Berry Stitch – uses a lot of yarns & time consuming. But it gives nice texture

Bean Stitch – uses a lot of yarns & time consuming. But it gives nice texture

Mini Bean Stitch - or some call it Elizabeth Stitch

Classic Double/Single Crochet – Easier compared to bean and berry stitch, and uses lesser yarns

Moss Stitch

Grit Stitch

Houndstooth Stitch

Lemon Peel Stitch

X Criss-Cross Stitch

Can't Remember The Name Stitch 😂😋

Hollow Double/Treble – easiest and fastest when I'm trying to save up the yarns or I'm just simply need to get this project done and over with

Stitch 🙃🙂

Let's move on to sewing all the patches, shall we?
