The darkly clad HIDE workers surrounded the group, a group made up of Kelsey, Artie, Peter, Thor, Bruce Banner, Steve Rodgers and Natasha Romanoff, only the world's most elite group of superheroes.

Thor began swinging his hammer, thunder boomed from outside, "Are you sure you want to continue?" He boomed threateningly to the enclosing group of workers.

"They don't understand you. HIDE controls them." Artie explained hurriedly, "We've tried it before, nothing works."

"So, guys what's the plan?" Peter asked, cracking his knuckles.

One of the workers shot off his gun barely missing Dr. Banner, who was standing next to Artie, "That's it. It's gonna get pretty ugly in here, fast."

Artie stepped back as Banner began to change, his skin turned green, his arms ripped through his shirt as his form continued to grow. Banner roared, Peter covered his ears, "Damn, glad he's on our side."

Banner pounced, knocking three of the workers to the ground unconscious, simultaneously. Chaos broke out, guns shot out as the rest of the Avengers took cover. Thor swung his hammer and flew up into the sky, the clouds darkening around him. Nat pulled out two guns from her utility belt, she turned to Artie and Kelsey, "Get to safety, it's you they're after, not us. Peter you go with them. Try to find Tony and Clint, let them know we could use some help up here."

More and more HIDE workers poured in through the hole in the building, it was amazing how many people worked for HIDE, granted most of them weren't voluntary but still.

"Come on let's go." Peter said grabbing Kelsey's arm and pulling her up, running towards the stairwell at the end of the hall. Guns were going off left and right, screams echoed through the hall and Kelsey prayed that none of her new friends were getting hurt.

Suddenly Kelsey stopped, "Wait."

Artie looked back at her from his position a few feet in front of her and Peter, "Kelsey we don't have time, we have to move."

"No something's wrong. I can feel it." Kelsey turned around looking back at the commotion behind her, "No I can hear it."

"Look out!" Peter yelled, he used his webbing to grab Kelsey and swing her to the side of the hall and a bullet shot past, "Can we stop and discuss what's wrong besides the shooting and fighting after we get somewhere safe?"

"It doesn't matter where we go, we won't be safe until I get this chip out of my head!" Kelsey yelled, "That's why they're here! They followed us!"

"OK fine, let's find Tony." Artie said, heading back towards the stairs. Five HIDE workers jumped out from behind the stairwell door, causing Artie to jump back in surprise. They aimed their guns, but didn't have time to shoot as Peter shot his web at the front minion and disarmed him. Artie regained his balanced and disappeared, blending into the surrounding area. His clothes were still visible but it disoriented the HIDE workers long enough for him to swing a punch at the next worker that came through the door. Peter jumped onto the ceiling reaching the door to the stairs in record time, jumping down on top of the worker knocking him out.

Kelsey crouched down behind a table that stood in the hall, unsure of what to do. She hated feeling useless but she didn't have much fighting training to be able to help the others, all she could do was read minds, so very helpful.

Kelsey smacked her head on the table was using as a shield, "God, I'm so stupid."

Kelsey closed her eyes focusing on the thoughts around her, hundreds of thoughts ran through her head but she tuned them all out except for two, Tony's and the woman's.

She stood up just as Peter knocked out the last of the workers, "Peter I know where Tony is, follow me. We have to hurry."

"How --?"

"I read minds remember?" Kelsey replied, running past the door and sprinting down the stairs. Taking two steps at a time Kelsey and the two boys went three floors below where they main fighting was taking place, down to the lab. Kelsey peeked the door open, taking a look out into the hall from the stairwell that they were currently in. She closed her eyes and took a breath, not sensing any thoughts coming from this floor she stepped out into the hall running to the door marked, LAB.

She burst through the door, "Tony, give me the device."

Tony and Clint looked startled, "How'd you --?" Tony began.

"Just do it!" Tony tossed a small device to Kelsey, she caught it with ease, "What is it?"

"It's a taser. Well sort of. It delivers a more powerful and direct shock into the body. The goal here is, to shock your brain and cause the device in your head to overload and shut down."

"Ok, how do you turn it on?" Kelsey asked fidgeting with the device.

"Woah woah woah." Clint said running over and taking the device out of her hands, "It's not ready yet, the shock could kill you."

"It won't matter if it kills me, I'll be dead soon enough anyways." Kelsey yelled, getting frustrated. She could feel the device in her head buzzing, someone was turning it on, "Look the woman is here, and she's going to find us unless you turn off the thing in my head!"

Tony and Clint looked at each other. "Uh guys, someone's coming." Artie spoke up from the doorway.

Kelsey cried out, the buzzing in her head had delivered a shock to her brain, a voice broke through the buzzing, Kelsey, such a naughty girl, however will I punish you? It's been eight days since you left home, and oh look at that you've made eight friends. If you don't come home with me, I'll kill them all, one each day and you'll watch.

"Shut up!" Kelsey yelled at no one, except the voice in her head.

It'll be slow too, slow and painful. I'll start with the woman, the one you shared you memories with and I'll keep going inventing new ways to torture them until they beg for death, and you know who I'll end with? On the eighth day, I'll kill your best friend, the boy who should've been killed long ago for being such a failure, I'll rip him apart one by one...

"SHUT UP!" Kelsey screamed clutching her head, before Tony or anyone could react Kelsey reached up and ripped the device from Clint's hands, pressed a button that somehow turned it on and pressed it to her head.

The shock that it delivered was quick, but Kelsey couldn't feel it, instead she fell to the ground unconscious.

Peter ran over to her side, "Kelsey?"

He looked up around the room, "She's not breathing."

"How many are there?" Steve yelled, deflecting yet another punch with his shield.

"Too many." Nat replied as she shot two oncoming workers down with her gun. It was a solid twenty to one ration of HIDE agents to Avengers, but the Hulk was lowering that ratio everytime he swung his fist.

Thor swung his hammer, knocking down three agents in the process, "I'll go fly up and see where they're coming from."

Thor spun his hammer around his fist, swinging it to the sky and taking off through the hole that had been punched into the wall.

Steve cried out as a bullet flew by clipping him in the side, "Steve!" Nat called out, "You ok?"

"Minor cut, no biggie." Steve replied, throwing his shield into the mass of agents taking down a few of the them. Nat shot her gun one last time, killing one of the agents before dropping it on the ground. She rolled towards the body of the man she had just killed and picked up his gun. She swung her foot around, tripping the agent that had attempted to sneak up behind her. As he fell to the floor Nat jumped up, aimed the gun and shot the agent in the chest. Slamming her elbow behind her she caught the next attacker off guard as he clutched his throat from where she hit him, she swung her leg forwards knocking his feet out from under him and slammed her foot back down on his head, knocking him out.

A flash of green whirled around the spy taking down a handful of the bad guys that were left. Not as many HIDE agents were coming in through the hole in the wall, but still enough to worry about. Suddenly a burst of light sparked through the otherside of the hole, "Was that Thor?" Steve asked, holding his side as he deflected yet another round of bullets with his shield.

To answer his question Thor flew into the building just has a enormous creaking sound echoed through the building, "They won't be coming in anymore."

Nat nodded, looking around, she'd worry about the damage the blonde giant had caused later, right now there were about twenty more agents left to deal with.

The black clad agents held up their guns, aiming at the Avengers, they didn't have time to shoot though. Steve made eye contact with Nat who swung her new weapon in the air and fired, hitting the agent in front of her. Thor sprung into action whipping his hammer around, knocking down the agents before they could shoot. Guns went off, Steve flung his shield, hitting the wall so it ricocheted back into an agent. Hulk took care of the majority of the remaining agents picking them up as easily as if he were playing with a doll and flinging them against the wall or out of the hole in the wall. In a matter of minutes the Avengers stood around a mass of bodies.

Nat went around collecting their weapons and checking for pulses, not many had pulses left. The Hulk had left in order to return back to his human form and find clothes to cover himself. Steve sat down on the ground holding his side, his hand covered in blood.

"You need help." Nat stated walking over to the Captain.

Steve shrugged, "Just a flesh wound."

Nat rolled her eyes and Thor reached a hand out to the Captain who took it and stood up, grimacing with pain.

"Let's go find Tony and the others, then I'll get help," Steve said, walking towards the stairwell that Peter, Artie, and Kelsey had used earlier. Nat rolled her eyes and had no choice to follow him, Thor went to go find Banner and would find them.

In minutes Nat and Steve had found Tony, Artie, Peter and Clint standing around a table in the tower's lab. Kelsey lay unconscious on top of it.

"What happened?" Steve cried.

"She basically electrocuted herself in order to get that device out of her head." Clint explained.

Peter looked up at the duo, "She was dead for a minute. Tony got her breathing again by altering the device she had used before to act as an AED."

Nat walked over, "Then why isn't she awake yet?"

"We don't know. It's probably the trauma caused by the shock keeping her unconscious." Clint replied.

Artie suddenly looked over to the door to the lab, "Something's wrong. Someone's coming."

The door blew open, knocking everyone in the room backwards, the woman walked in and Nat reached for her gun, the woman reached hers first, pointing it Peter, "Touch it and he dies."

Nat scowled and raised her hands the woman continued speaking, "Well, well, well. Isn't this interesting. Everyone's all here together, well except for those other two buffoons that are already in our custody."

Artie glared at the woman, "What do you want with us? Why is she so important to you?"

"Kelsey is the key to everything Arthur. She'll save us all." The woman replied, her red nails curling around the trigger of the gun, still pointed at Peter.

"We're not letting you take her." Peter said, stepping in front of the table that Kelsey laid upon.

"Doesn't matter what you let me do, she's mine."

"You'll have to go through us first." Tony spoke up.

The woman sighed, "Fine." She aimed her gun and shot in rapid succession. All the Avengers fell to the ground. The woman tucked her gun in her belt and walked out, nodding to the agents that were standing outside of the door, "People never make it easy do they?"

A/N FINALLY AN UPDATE!!!! I really have no excuse this time except that I was lazy and kept putting this off, even though it's a fairly exciting chapter....It's also a little longer than usual just to say I'm sorry for the wait..hopefully the next one will be up within a week!!!
