Case One.
After a month of research and tracking a young woman with blond hair and a slim figure sat in a fried pie shop in the Arbuckle mountains in rural Oklahoma, watching the counter as a patron bought a cherry pie for the road. The shop was about to close and one of the workers had disappeared out the back door as the old man left. Lilly got up to follow the man she was hunting around the back of the building, slipping a wooden stake from her purse. In the corner of her eye Lilly Buchanan saw something long and made of white stone move in for an attack. She gripped the wooden stake tightly as she spun around to counter. She thought she was going to surprise and kill the being that had murdered so many before. The young hunter was wrong.
The creature was about a foot taller than her and strong as ten men. He caught her wrist and forced the stake into her stomach. As she sank to her knees, he proceeded to strike her until her bloody form became still. Her last thought was of her niece she had promised to make it to her birthday party the next day.
Someone staggered around the corner of the back of the fried pie shop. He was too late to see the creature hunched over the woman's body, but he still saw the split open corpse.
The creature watched from the trees as the young man pulled a pocket knife out, not that the two inch long blade would actually be effective defense against this attacker, but because the cool steel was reassuring to the young man that would be allowed to see another day.
