for the love of money is the root of all evil.

     facing hardships due to income wasn't something that cecelia tamura was unfamiliar with. from an early age and straight into adulthood, she and her family that consisted of her grandmother, who raised her, and her teenage nephew, who she and her grandmother had taken the liberty of raising since he was a newborn, had always struggled to make ends meet. ever since she was able, cecelia always found a way to contribute and take care of her family. her entire world revolved around them. they depended on her, so she did everything to make sure they were cared for.

     resulting in her student loans, credit card, and bank debts being stacked up. to put more weight on her shoulders, insurances failing to help pay for the medications she needs when her grandmother is diagnosed with early-stage parkinson's disease.

     desperate for money, cecelia becomes involved in a blue-collar criminal gang, who swore they would help her out with cash in exchange for helping them extort wealthy businesses. to protect her family, she keeps the full extent of her violent job a secret.

     months go by. cecelia still working in extortion, avoiding loan payments and bank calls, only putting the share of the earnings she gets towards her family. but everything comes crashing down when one night, the police raids the gang. arresting them for money laundering, robberies, and extortion. cecelia, who was luckily able to get out in time, took what clean money they had and ran. afraid that the people she worked with was going to snitch on her for deals, cecelia flees the US, leaving her family with what money she had.

     nine months after immigrating to south korea, cecelia struggles to keep a job due to the male-dominated work force and her refusal to tolerate disrespect. with bills piling up and facing eviction, she is offered a chance to play children's games for a large cash prize.

     she accidentally befriends hwang jun-ho, a police detective searching for his missing brother. jun-ho disguises himself a guard, aiming to find his brother and protect cecelia from the deadly competition. as time continues, jun-ho grows increasingly afraid of losing her and finds himself falling in love. determined to save her, he vows to get her out of the games alive, no matter what cost.

★          𝗜𝗜𝗜.  i am so late to the party but i absolutely love this show. i looked around on wattpad, ao3, and tumblr and i could not find any jun-ho fics to satisfy my needs so insert thanos: fine, i'll do it myself. few things, one, i'm in love with wi ha jun. need me some more fics about him especially in midnight.
two, i started writing this fan fiction before the season two promos so my oc's player number was and still is 333, despite season two's 333 being played by <yim siwan3. sooo, in season two, if my oc returns, she'll have a different player number.
