FIXING STORIES
Ugh, seriously? What's the point?

Okay, this is a serious, serious problem that I see EVERYWHERE. Well, almost everywhere. I get that you really want to write stories, and the story idea might be really great. But... I can't bring myself to read it if the grammar is the worst thing ever or I literally can't tell what's going on.

If you feel, and you should, that your grammar is a little bad, get an editor. There are tons of people willing to fix that up FOR FREE. There are also grammar fixing apps like ProWriting and Grammarly.

Grammarly is completely free and fixes your mistakes as you write. However, more advanced problems mean you need the premium version to get what the problem is and have it fixed.

ProWriting is free except that it doesn't give you suggestions to change the words to something different. Like, synonyms and antonyms. For example, a certain sentence sounds okay with the word unrelated but would sound way better with the word different.

If the problem is story writing, ask someone to read it! Hey, friend, just take a looksie-wooksie and see if this thing even makes sense. For example:

Everyone loved one guy for no reason. No one hated him, and everything seemed to be going smoothly for him. There are almost no challenges in the story just because he's the main character.

Friend: WHAT? THAT'S STUPID! CHANGE IT TO THIS:

People loved one guy because he was pretty hardworking and kind. He had his own problems, and people were jealous of him for his immense strength and people like him, but he got through it. He worked hard to become the person he was and defeated dragons and other things with his own hands after working hard and training himself.

I just hate seeing stories like that. Please reach out to me if you are unable to find yourself an editor. I edit mostly grammar but I can also see if things make sense.

Updating It

Okay, seriously. This is such a problem. Let's say people consistently fix your story in the comments. Then you reply saying "Thank you so much!" "Oh, your so kind!" Bla bla bla.

Stop it.

I'm not telling you to stop thanking them. I'm telling you to stop just reading them and moving on. YEAH, YOU SEE THAT I COMMENTED AND FIXED YOUR STORY FOR YOU! NOW FIX YOUR STORY, DAMNIT!

I'm sorry, it just angers me SO MUCH. Edit your story and replace the problems with what they commented, if you believe it completely makes sense and fits your story. If not, don't just thank them and move on. Say something like:

“Thanks but I don't think that completely fits my story. I'll edit it to something similar though. Thanks for pointing that out.”
