Spider woke up to the sudden blaring of his alarm clock at 4 in the morning. He usually slept late. Like, really late. He groaned as he sat up. He got dressed in a pair of knee length athletic shorts and a sleeveless white shirt. He tied his running shoes and walked outside. He ran around the block until he saw the sun come up above the line of houses. He made one last lap around the block and stopped at his house. He opened the door and crept inside. His Aunt Sky was in her room still sleeping. He walked over to his brother's room. "Night," he whispered. "Night. Time for school." The dark haired boy sat up. He was about eight with dark black hair that almost looked blue. "I had that dream again," Night murmured. "It's okay," Spider assured him. "It's just a dream." Night sat up and climbed out of bed. Spider left the room and went to his son to change. He pulled on a pair of jeans, t-shirt, and sweat shirt. He fixed a bowl of cereal for him and Night and they left for school. After dropping Night off, Spider stood back and watched sadly as Flame called Black names and pushed her around. He laughed as she walked inside the school. "That's not cool man," Spider shook his head as he walked up to Flame. "Stop criticizing me Spidey and let's go," Flame grumbled and they walked inside. "You coming to the party tomorrow?" Flame asked. "I heard they're cutting school for it." "I'll go if you do," Spider shrugged. "And if Soot does," Flame punched his friend's arm. "No way," Spider shook his head but blushed. They walked into class just as the bell rang. Spider scanned the room for Soot but didn't see her. He looked over at Flame who was staring at the seat Black sat in but she wasn't there either. Classes whizzed by and the last bell rang. Spider stood in the doorway and watched Soot and Black argue. He couldn't hear what they were saying but Soot was obviously upset, she had tears in her eyes and was yelling. Black was crying too and had the sleeves of her old leather jacket pulled down past her hands and was playing with her earrings. Soot grabbed her arms and spoke to her quietly. Black shook her head and pulled her arms from Soot before running off to her house. 'I don't think I've ever seen her run,' Spider thought. He walked up to Soot. "What's wrong?" He asked her. She was sniffling and sitting on the steps. "N-nothing..." she said. She stood up and walked away to her own house. Spider knew something was wrong but he didn't know what. "What's wrong Spidey?" Flame asked. "Soot and Black were fighting," he said, staring after Soot. Flame's face went dark. "What about?" He asked. Spider shook his head. "She wouldn't tell me." Flame made his 'thinking face'. Spider started laughing. "Don't think man. It's not your strong suit," he smirked and waved good bye to his friend and walked home. He got home and ordered pizza. "Night! Pizza's here!" He yelled and set the box on the table. He grabbed a plate and put two slices of pizza on it. He walked down the hall to his aunt's room. "Aunt Sky? I've got your pizza?" He said and tentatively opened the door. "Spider, thanks," she whispered and took the plate. She ate the pizza with a far off look. He left the room and went to his own after finishing off his pizza. He fell into bed and stared at the ceiling, wondering why the girls were fighting.
