Monday Oct. 27
Black woke up from another nightmare. She's had them for as long as she could remember. They usually are a modern version of something that happened a long time ago or an old timey version of something that'll happen in the far far future. Nothing that has anything to do with her. That night, it was the Salem Witch Trials, Shadow High School style and she was the witch. She shook her head and rubbed her face. She pulled herself from her fuzzy black blanketed loft bed and got ready for another day at school. Black walked to the door as quiet as she could but cringed at a voice. "Good morning Black," her Aunt Yarrow said as she sipped her coffee. "Mornin Auntie," Black said, feigning a sweet tone and smile. "You haven't eaten breakfast," her little sister, Tawny, said. "Snitch," Black hissed and Tawny stuck out her tongue. "Enough," Aunt Yarrow said. Her family was the goodie two shoes kind. Her mother was a successful business woman and Aunt Yarrow was her partner. Aunt Yarrow was a fancy woman who liked to eat salad and dressed in white. She was a rich woman. Black liked to wear her black t-shirts, ripped and faded old black jeans, chokers, and dark make up just to annoy her. "You're not wearing that dress I bought you," she said emotionlessly. "That might be because all the blinding pink and ruffles gave me nightmares. Therefore, I burned it," Black nodded like it was the most reasonable reply ever. Aunt Yarrow rolled her eyes. "Honestly, your mother-" "My mother nothing!" Black growled. Her mom was always a sore subject. "She wouldn't make me wear a prissy princess dress a two year old girl would puke at the sight of!" Black was seething. "Do not use that tone with me!" Her aunt shouted back, not breaking her perfect posture. "Whatever," Black rolled her swirling hazel eyes and slammed the door behind her. She pulled her black canvas backpack further on her shoulders and ran to catch the bus whirling past. "WAIT!!" She shouted after it but the darned thing kept on right past her. She growled as she shoved her ear buds into her ears I and walked to Shadow High School in the brisk, late fall weather. She made it to the front steps thirty minutes before class started. As she walked past the bike rack a deep voice called to her. "Hey emo!" Flame called. Black rolled her eyes and turned around. "Why hello!" She said with sarcastic cheer and a perfected British accent. "So what'll it be today? The usual shoving into walls and lockers and name calling or are you going to get a bit creative today?" He narrowed his eyes. "Whatever you emo loser!" He grumbled and body slammed her into the bike rack. She groaned in pain as she untangled herself from the pile of fallen bikes. "Same time tomorrow Jockstrap!" She called after him, fighting the anger and sadness creeping up inside her. The small black haired girl rightened the bikes and trudged back up the stairs. She grabbed her books for history and walked inside the class room. She fell into the seat in the back on the far right corner. The chair had gradually been scooted away from the other desks from her plopping into it. The classroom filled around her as she listened to her rock music and read. The teacher starts the lesson and Black shoves her book in her desk. "The Salem Witch Trials," the teacher began. 'Called it,' Black thought. "Black, what started the trials?" She asked. 'How stereotypical. The teacher asks the chick in black about witches.' "Cotton Mather wrote a book guide lining a way for a group of girls to do ridiculous things causing numerous women and men to be killed for witchcraft," Black answered in an almost bored tone with out looking up. Class ended and the lunch bell rang. Black plugged her other ear bud in and grabbed her book. She kept her hood up and head down as she walked over to grab food. She bought a sandwich and chicken salad and walked to the empty courtyard to eat under a tree. School finally ended. Black walked down the steps of the school and Soot ran up to her. "Hey Black," she called happily. "Hey Soot," Black said when she caught up. "How did the debate last night go?" She asked, not looking at her friend's amber eyes. "Great! We won! Also you are coming to the Halloween party Friday night right?" Soot said. She was, as everyone else in the school, taller than Black, so she had to look down to talk to her. Today dark grayish hair was pulled back behind a black and silver tie headband. "Of course I am," Black laughed. "I shall go with you to a party at school to make a fool of myself in costume with the people who shove me in lockers all day. Wouldn't miss it for the world." She laughed sarcastically. "Aww at least you'd be making a fool of yourself with me. Plus, this year you have to wear a kind of mask. Like a masquerade ball," Soot laughed back. "Yo Emo!" A voice called. "I could go get a teacher you know," Soot whispered. Black looked at her like she was crazy. "Have you never seen any TV show or read a book? It only gets worse," she shook her head and turned around. "Hello Jockstrap," Black said and popped the p. Flame stepped closer to her with a smirk. "Go ahead Soot. I'll catch up," Black said lowly, glaring at Flame. "Bake sale this weekend. Help me bake for it?" Soot asked and Black nodded. Soot reluctantly walked down the side walk and waved to her friend. "All alone now are we Emo?" Flame smirked. "Every day Jockstrap," Black grinned. "What's it gonna be today?" Flame shoved her backwards and she fell into a puddle of mud. "Ow. Okay not very nice," Black groaned. "Nobody ever said I was nice," Flame smirked. "Imma smack the smirk right off your face!" Black growled. Flame laughed. "I'd like to see you try, Shortie." Black glowered. "What did you call me?" She growled lowly. Flame simply laughed. "What cha gonna do bout it Shortie?" Black growled and kicked him full force in the gut. He doubled over, heaving. When he recovered soon after, he glowered at Black. He grabbed the neckline of her shirt and lifted the small teen off her feet. "You are a loser. You're nothing. You're weak. Don't forget it," he growled in a scary tone. He dropped her and she fell to he ground. Flame dropped his large foot on her stomach. Black flailed and tried to push him off but he was much bigger and stronger than she was. She gasped for breath and tears of pain and lack of oxygen welled up in her eyes. Flame smirked and moved his foot. "Gonna cry now?" He asked and walked away. Black sighed and wiped her eyes. She shook her head and fidgeted with her multiple ear piercings. She trudged back home and pulled out her Animal Sciences homework. Animal Sciences was her favorite class. She loved learning about the different species and how they live. (I know it's not a real class in high school but no one would name their kid Black or Spider so...on with the story.) "Black!!" Tawny shouted. "Aunt Yarrow said to make dinner!" Black rolled her eyes. "There's leftover pizza from last night in the fridge! I'm doing homework!" She yelled back. "I'm going to tell Aunt Yarrow you didn't take care of me!" Tawny wined. "Good for you kid!" Black shouted back and turned to her homework. She finished easily and took a long hot shower, listening to a book on audio.
Hey wazzup?!
So. Yea. There's this.
I got the idea for Aunt Yarrow from Breakable. She don't like squirrels.
Also if you know the story about the yarrow there's a bit of foreshadowing there...
So I hoped you enjoyed this chapter!
Peace out dudes!
