Closer
Boboiboy's POV
After crying my heart out, I stayed comfortably in bed with Nyx. He held me close, making me feel as safe and relaxed as possible. His presence alone seemed to melt away my tension, even though he hadn't found relief for himself.
Resting my head on his chest, I glanced up at him. His eyes were closed, one arm folded behind his head. I smiled softly—he looked so tired. He'd done everything he could to help me get back on my feet.
Reaching out, I gently touched his jaw, rubbing it lightly. Gratitude swelled within me. Even though Fang and I didn't work out as a couple, we'd remained friends, which was more than I could have hoped for. But the true highlight of my life right now was Nyx. This big, soft-hearted man who'd brought light into my darkest days. Strong yet incredibly gentle, he was everything I
Strong yet incredibly gentle, Nyx was everything I never thought I deserved. Even now, as he slept, his protective instincts lingered—his other arm was draped securely around my waist.
I chuckled softly, careful not to wake him. Slowly, I slipped out of his embrace, pulling the blanket up to cover him. He deserved this rest.
I stood up cautiously, my legs still weak. It felt like learning to walk all over again, almost like physiotherapy. Taking a few careful steps, I stumbled slightly but caught myself. I refused to rely on support this time—I needed to do this on my own.
However, as I moved, I bumped into a table, the loud clatter echoing in the quiet room. Startled, I turned to check if Nyx had woken up. He stirred slightly but remained asleep.
"Phew," I whispered. I decided to leave the room before I caused more noise, using the walls for balance as I made my way out. The soothing hum of the ship accompanied me, a constant melody I'd grown to love.
Arriving at the bridge, the sliding doors opened to reveal a familiar figure standing by the massive window, gazing out at the starry expanse.
"Kaizo!" I exclaimed, surprised to see him.
He turned, his expression softening as he smiled at me. "Hello, Boboiboy."
I tried to walk faster toward him, but my legs protested. Kaizo noticed immediately and closed the distance between us, adjusting his robe as he approached.
"Let me help you," he offered, extending a hand.
"Thank you, Captain," I said, taking his hand. He guided me to a bench facing the window, his movements careful yet firm.
As we sat, Kaizo's expression turned serious. "Boboiboy, I want to thank you for saving me. But... we almost lost you because of me. It wasn't worth it."
I was taken aback. "Captain, don't say that," I said, looking down at my legs. "I made my choice because I believed it was the right thing to do. Fang and Kizka have already been through so much, and I've always felt like a burden to them."
Kaizo frowned and placed a reassuring hand on my shoulder. "Don't ever think that. You're not a burden, and I'm sure Kizka feels the same. But Fang..." He paused, his tone growing sharper. "Did Fang do something to hurt you again? Is that why you two aren't on good terms anymore?"
I froze. He didn't know?
Before I could respond, he continued, "I'll talk to him. He promised me he'd take care of you!"
I laughed softly, shaking my head. "Captain, it's not like that. Fang and I aren't together anymore."
Kaizo's eyes widened in surprise. "What? Since when?"
I hesitated, looking out at the stars. "It's been a while. I... I thought it was better if I died back then because my life didn't feel important compared to yours, or Fang's, or Kizka's. But the truth is, Fang and I just weren't meant to be."
Kaizo's jaw tightened, his hands clenching into fists. "That idiot. He knows he messed up, doesn't he? Is that why he didn't tell me? I'm going to—"
"No! Don't," I interrupted, grabbing his arm before he could stand. "It's over, and we've both moved on. Fang is with Tony now, and I'm... I'm with Nyx."
Kaizo froze, his expression shifting to one of disbelief. "Fang is with Tony? And you... you're with Nyx? How long?"
"Barely a week," I admitted, feeling a bit self-conscious. "We've only known each other for a few weeks."
Kaizo sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I was gone for a little while, and everything fell apart," he muttered, sounding disappointed.
I reached for his hand. "It's not your fault, Captain. Everything happens for a reason. Fang and I just weren't meant to be, and that's okay. What matters now is focusing on the future—and I want that future to include you."
Kaizo stared at me for a moment before pulling me into a tight hug. I was shocked at first but quickly returned the embrace.
"I've always seen you as a little brother," Kaizo said quietly. "I just want you to be happy. I'm sorry I wasn't there when you needed me."
Tears welled in my eyes. "Don't blame yourself, Captain. You've done so much for all of us. Let's move forward together, okay?"
Kaizo pulled back, a soft smile on his face as he ruffled my hair. "You really are something, Boi. Thank you."
I smiled through my tears, feeling lighter than I had in a long time.
"When are you going back to your planet?" Kaizo asked suddenly.
The question jolted me. My vacation was almost over, and college was waiting for me.
"Oh no! I completely forgot!" I cried, panicking.
Kaizo laughed at my reaction. "Don't worry, we'll figure it out. For now, let's enjoy the time we have left."
Standing up, he offered me his hand again. "Come on. Let me take you back to your room. No more walking around for you tonight."
I nodded, smiling. No matter what, Kaizo hadn't changed. He was still as strong and kind as ever, and I was grateful to have him in my life.
Fang's POV
Kaizo's return felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. For the first time in a long while, I felt free.
Tony walked into my room, adjusting his shoulder. "The ship's prepped and ready to fly back, Fang."
Hearing that, I couldn't contain my excitement. I rushed to Tony, lifting him off the ground and spinning him around. His startled laugh filled the room, and as I set him down, I kissed him.
Tony blushed furiously, looking away. "You're in such a good mood," he muttered.
"I am! My brother's back, you're with me, and everything feels right again," I said, grinning.
But Tony's expression shifted, his gaze narrowing. "You still care about Boboiboy, don't you?"
I froze, realizing how my words sounded. "That's not what I meant!" I tried to explain, but Tony wasn't convinced.
He grabbed my shirt, pushing me down onto the bed and climbing over me. His sudden assertiveness caught me off guard.
"Don't mention him in front of me," he demanded, his tone firm.
I couldn't help but smile at his jealousy. "Okay, my beautiful boyfriend," I said, pulling him down into a kiss.
At that moment, nothing else mattered.
To be continue..
