Chapter 8 (Part 1)
Oliver, Josephine, and Gregory hastily climbed the steep slope towards the cave-like opening. As they reached the opening from the side, their hurried pace slowed, and they gathered a deep breath. Continuing their quest, they turned to a cave-like opening. However, just as they were about to cut to the corner, they spotted wardens guarding the entrance.
Oliver, Josephine, and Gregory swiftly pulled back before the wardens spotted them sneaking in the corner. Their bodies glued to the mountainside, they hid in the corner and pressed against the rocks. They held their breaths, careful not to make loud noises that could draw attention to themselves. Exchanging glances, their gazes conveyed silent messages as they pondered how to get inside the lair without getting caught.
Unexpectedly, a warden appeared from the side, standing before Josephine and Gregory. Josephine and Gregory quickly noticed the warden near them, but their perseverance helped them not to squeal. Without warning, the warden charged and headed towards Gregory with a sword.
Gregory quickly used his sceptre to block the attack. However, the inertia flung Gregory, alongside Josephine, towards the front of the cave-like opening, exposing them to danger. The wardens situated by the entrance of the lair immediately spotted Josephine and Gregory. Then, they approached them with wide steps.
Meanwhile, Oliver, left with the other warden, stood frozen like a block of ice. However, seeing Josephine and Gregory hurt caused his blood to boil until it sizzled. Oliver swiftly turned to the warden with his eyebrows furrowed and his face contorting with fury.
Angrily, Oliver stated, "No one can touch my companions."
Just as the warden is about to surge forward, Oliver swings his arm upward, propelled by a sense of urgency. Then, a cloud of dust summons and blasts towards the warden's eyes, blinding him momentarily. The warden groans in discomfort as he drops his sword and brushes his eyes.
Seizing the opportunity to attack, Oliver lowers one knee. Then, while pivoting on his heels, he kicks the warden on the ankle. Like a crumbling structure, the warden collapses and falls on his back, almost tumbling down the mountain's slope.
Meanwhile, Josephine and Gregory recover from the warden's attack as they shake their heads. Battling their quivering knees, they stand up. Then, they exchange glances, their eyes reflecting pure apprehension.
