Chapter 51
"What's with that hairstyle Bakugo!" Hanta and Eijiro laughed out when Katsuki walked into class.
"Shut up my hair's gotten used to this and I can't get it the right way anymore." Katsuki snarled at them
Iruka looked his way and tried her best to hide in her laughter while Izuku did the same not wanting a death sentence this early on in life.
"Bakugo you still look like a thumb," Shoto stated rather bluntly from where he sat.
"WHAT DID YOU SAY YOU ICEY-HOT BASTARD! I'LL KILL YOU!!" Katsuki yelled out as his hair puffed back into its original spiky form.
"THERE IT GOES!" Hanta yelled out as he, Eijiro and Iruka were sent into a fit of laughter.
It was Monday morning, the first day of school after internships and everyone was around their peers telling stories about what they had been doing for the week. Tsuyu told an enticing story of how she helped stop drug dealers. Ochaco radiated a dangerous aura because she felt so in her element when it came to combat.
Mineta was telling Denki to not be fooled by the aura for he had learned that all women were in fact scarier than they seemed. Denki brushed it of wondering what Mount Lady had done to his friend. He pointed out that the people who had changed the most was Tenya, Izuku, Shoto and Iruka.
Soon the class surrounded the four, voicing out how concerned they had been especially since Izuku had given his entire class a mass text about how he was in danger. Rikido made a comment saying how lucky they had been that Endeavor arrived. Iruka looked at Shoto when Toru commented on how that's how the number 2 hero should be.
"Ya that's right he saved us." Was all he said.
Now the topic of the conversation changed. Mashirao asking if his classmates heard the news that Stain was rumoured to be working with the League of Villains. The very idea made Iruka's skin crawl. Apparently, there was a video of The Hero Killer as he was being taken into custody. Denki mentioned how he was really tenacious but wasn't quick enough to stop himself from saying how cool Stain was.
"Kaminari~" Izuku warned him whilst looking at Tenya.
"No it's fine Midoriya. He was indeed a tenacious villain, I can understand why some people will think he's cool. But instead of helping the world, his beliefs led him to cold-blooded murder. No matter his motives killing cannot be condoned." The class fell silent at Tenya's words.
"While I agree killing can't be condoned but corrupt heroes shouldn't either. Personally, I agree with Stain's beliefs he just didn't execute it properly and I mean properly not necessarily legally." Iruka voiced out which got looks of concern.
"Ito the way of the hero is to things by the rules. We must strive to be proper heroes." Tenya acknowledged.
"Well you are right but sometimes the legal way isn't enough."
"What are you saying here Ito?" Eijiro interjects.
"What I'm saying is, the legal way can't always be effective. Say a corrupted hero is in a position of high power aka a higher rank. They could easily buy themselves out of the situation. If they were in a high rank that means they also get a lot of respect so people would overlook it as a bluff." There were very few people in the class who knew exactly who Iruka was talking about. Shoto could almost laugh at the fact that his father was being seen as a corrupted hero by Iruka, not that he was even remotely surprised.
"But a corrupted hero couldn't get into top ranks. There would've been someone who noticed by then wouldn't there?" Mina asked.
"That's the thing about corruption. You don't notice it until it's too late. But who knows." Iruka shrugged deciding it was time to drop the topic.
"Well we should all strive to be the best heroes one could be. Which includes catching corrupted heroes and villains alike." Tenya stated before he went into a whole lecture on being a good hero.
==========
"I hope you're all ready for hero basic training. It felt like it's been long since I've last seen you so welcome back. Now then today's training will be a race. Take everything you've learned during your internship and apply to this rescue training." All Might announced.
"Sir if this is rescue training why are we not at the USJ?" Tenya asked.
"That facility is meant for disasters. As I've said earlier this is a race so get ready." All Might then went to explain how this exercise would go.
They were outside Field Gama. An intricate facility filled with factories and pipes making it almost a labyrinth. They were going to be placed in groups of five and placed in different parts of the facility. All Might would be standing somewhere there as well and when he sent out a distress signal everyone would have to race to find him. The first to reach him would be the winner.
"Alright, group 1 to your stations." In the first group, there was Izuku, Hanta, Mina, Mashirao and Tenya.
"Iida hasn't completely recovered, right? Shouldn't he sit this one out?" Denki questioned.
"Darn everyone in this group has some impressive mobility." Eijiro pointed out.
"Huh, I'd say Midoriya is at a heavy disadvantage," Momo commented to which Kyoka pointed out how he would often cause damage to himself when he does use his quirk.
Eijiro started betting that Hanta would win. Denki put his odds on Mashirao.
"I think Izu could win this," Iruka said cheerily. Everyone looked at her confused.
"Ya no way, I know Deku is coming dead last," Katsuki stated.
"You take that back!" Iruka yelled a little frustrated that Katsuki didn't have any confidence in their friend.
Their attention went to the big screen before them when the training began. Hanta immediately went up letting himself have a pretty decent view. Mina was sliding on pipes while Mashirao jumped from rooftop to rooftop. Hanta was in first place until Izuku flew right past him surprising everyone.
He had some kind of green electric-like energy around him as he propelled himself in the sky. Iruka noticed how his moves were incredibly similar to Katsuki's. When she turned to see his reaction, he looked rather pissed. Iruka turned to her classmates to give an I told you so face. Sadly that sense of victory didn't last long when Izuku slipped on a pipe. Safe to say Iruka had a very prominent handprint on her face.
When it was Iruka's turn it was smooth sailing. She was up against Katsuki, Ochaco, Tsuyu and Eijiro. Although Ochaco could defy gravity she had a slight struggle when trying to get her to where she needed to go. Eijiro on the other hand tried to climb up a factory so he could jump from rooftop to rooftop just like Mashirao. Tsuyu had a similar strategy as Hanta where she used her tongue to swing up and take to the skies.
Iruka and Katsuki had also taken to the skies. But unlike her classmates, Iruka didn't have to worry about anything getting in her way. The outsides were her playing field so the second Iruka spotted All Might nothing stopped her from getting to him first. Katsuki had gotten even more agitated by this which scared Iruka a little.
Later on, in the locker room, everyone was getting changed out of their hero costume when Iruka heard something rather unnerving. She walked to the wall that was in between the girl's and boy's locker rooms.
"Iruka something the matter?" Momo asked.
"No, but could you make a small rod, maybe less than a centimetre in diameter and maybe 20 centimetres long." Momo nodded as she made it.
Iruka felt around the wall until she found what she had been looking for. Momo handed her the rod and thankfully it fit perfectly into the hole Iruka had found.
"What is that for?" Mina questioned.
"A certain perverted menace thought it would be delightful to follow in the footsteps of his horny seniors." Iruka scoffed but smirk when she managed to stab exactly what she wanted to. On the other side of the wall, Mineta yelped in pain because his eye had been stabbed by the rod.
"Thanks Kyoka, Iruka." Ochaco thanked.
"No problem but he's going to have a piece of my mind," Iruka growled.
When Iruka walked into the classroom she stomped straight to Mineta's desk.
"Minoru fucking Mineta." Iruka sneered, glaring at the boy in front of her.
"Huh what?" He was simultaneously confused and scared by the look Iruka gave him.
"Try what you did today again and I promise you you will regret living."
"What no wait you gotta be wrong this is a mistake."
"No Mineta you're a mistake because 15 years ago your mother gave birth to the wrong thing!" Iruka yelled out as silence fell on the class. "Whatever being is up there give me patients." She mumbled before taking a seat.
"Heh don't you mean strength," Katsuki questioned a proud smirk across his face.
"If I was given strength that grape headed creep would be 6 feet under."
=========
"Izuku aren't you coming?" Iruka asked.
"Oh um sorry Iruka change of plans. All Might has something important to tell me so I cant go to Shinso's house with you." Izuku explained. He didn't like that he was ditching his friends but All Might made it sound like whatever he wanted to tell him was important.
"That's alright Izu, some other time then. See you tomorrow." Iruka waved him goodbye and headed to 1-C.
Mezo and Hitoshi were waiting for her outside. Iruka greeted them with a smile and gestured that it was time to get going.
"Isn't Midoriya coming?" Mezo asked scared he might accidentally leave his new friend out.
"No not today, All Might wanted to talk and he didn't know how long that would take." Shoji nodded in understanding.
===========
Iruka fiddled with her pen as she looked at the numbers in front of her. The three friends were upstairs each doing a different subject to study more efficiently by teaching one another. Hitoshi's room was rather roomy. It had a bean bag in 1 corner next to a shelf filled with both manga and figurines, a bed with several posters above it and a desk right by the window.
Mezo must've been here before because when they had arrived Hitoshi's mum knew him immediately, not that anyone could forget a 6 armed student. It took a lot of dragging to finally get Iruka inside. She was a nervous wreck, too scared to meet Hitoshi's mum. Though she really didn't have anything to worry about.
Mihoko Shinso was such a lovely person. Just like Hitoshi, she had long lilac hair tied into a messy bun. She had a light litter of freckles on her nose and cheeks. They didn't talk long, just simple introductions, but Iruka could tell just how nice she was.
"Iruka you doing alright?" Mezo asked as he watched Iruka chew on her pen in frustration.
"No, not really. I'm looking at the answer sheet and just can't figure out how they went from this to this. Honestly, how am I still in this class." Iruka pulled at her face and could only groan.
"Here maybe I can help." Mezo took the answer sheet. "Try expanding it first. Sometimes you might be able to find the missing pieces."
After a minute or two, Iruka looked up from her work in disbelief, "Woah wait that actually worked."
"You didn't think to expand it?" Hitoshi questioned.
"Shhhh I'm not the smart one here." Iruka put her finger in front of Hitoshi to silence him.
"Hitoshi could you come down and help me for a sec," Mihoko called out.
"Be right back." Hitoshi headed out as Mezo continued to teach Iruka.
"Ya mum? Did you need something?"
"Why don't you invite Iruka and Mezo over for dinner tonight?"
"I mean sure but don't get mad when they have their own families to eat dinner with." He jested.
"Hitoshi!" Mihoko scolded. Hitoshi only laughed as he went back upstairs.
Eventually, Mihoko called the three of them down for dinner. When they reached the dining room Iruka saw a man waiting at the table. Thankfully Iruka didn't have time to internally panic because this man was in fact Hitoshi's father, Hajime Shinso. If eye bags were genetics Hitoshi would've had eyebags at birth because Hajime had some prominent eye bags. Other than that Iruka noticed his hair was a similar shade of lilac as Hitoshi's.
He looks just like his parents. Iruka thought as a smile crept on her face.
"So you must be Iruka and Mezo," Hajime held out his hand and shook theirs.
"Yes sir." Always so polite. Iruka smiled wider.
"Well it's loving meeting you both, shall we start dinner?" The three nodded as they took their seats at the dining table.
At first, Hajime dragged Mezo into some small talk as Iruka and Hitoshi listened but eventually, the focus turned towards Iruka. The usual questions were asked, how was school? What's your quirk like? Of course, there was no way anyone was getting out of a conversation about quirks without Iruka asking a billion questions.
It was interesting to know that Hajime's quirk allowed him to stay awake without any need for sleep, which is what led him to become a doctor. Mihoko's, on the other hand, is where Hitoshi's quirk had come from. She had a brainwashing quirk though, for her, she needed to touch a person instead of having them talk.
Dinner was over quicker than Iruka would have liked. She enjoyed the Shinso's. They were nice, funny as well. Hajime and Hitoshi managed to drop in a few subtle jokes throughout dinner.
"Dinner was great Mrs Shinso, thanks so much," Iruka commented as Mezo nodded along.
"Well it was lovely having you over, Hitoshi invite them over more often won't you."
"Ya ya," Hitoshi muttered as Iruka giggled. "Oh wait." He rushed upstairs and came down a few seconds later holding something. "Here, I noticed you chew on everything so maybe you might benefit from one of these, their called chewlery." Hitoshi handed Iruka a small little paperbag.
"Oh thanks a bunch Toshi."
"Well we should get going, see you tomorrow Hitoshi. And thanks for dinner Mrs, Mr Hitoshi." Mezo and Iruka waved as they walked off.
"I see why you talk about Iruka so much." Was the last Iruka heard before the family walked into the home.

My brother made me have an existential crisis over writing styles because he didn't like capslock.
Also did I project my own beliefs onto Iruka? Yes absolutely XD
I remember this chapter was one I wanted to have not to much dialogue cause I think I write to much dialogue.
Anywaysss, thanks for reading and don't forget to leave a vote and/or comment, both are greatly appreciated.
Have a lovely day, night, weekend, whenever, wherever you are.
