TW: Intrusive thoughts

"Iruka, Izuku come on. We'll grab some lunch before we head to the hospital." Inko called out for the two.

Izuku and Iruka had spent a good chunk of the morning talking about heroes and who would win against each other. The topic of villains and what had happened the day before was avoided like the plague.

"Mum, could we get cold soba for lunch?" Izuku asked as they headed towards the train station.

"What do you think Iruka, shall we head to that nice soba place downtown?"

"I don't see why not, let's go!"

"Do you think dad will like this plush or this one?" Iruka asked, holding up 2 soft plushies.

"You're getting him plush toys?"

"Well flowers would die and papa would kill me if I got another cat," Iruka explained

"Get that one. It kinda looks like Todoroki but less grumpy." Izuku pointed out sending Iruka into a fit of giggles.

"Pfft, it definitely does. Good choice." After Iruka paid for the plush the two searched for Inko who went and bought fruits as a gift.

Soon after they met up with Mitsuki and Katsuki at the train station. Masaru couldn't come since he had work. The five of them headed towards the hospital.

"Umm Shota Aizawa-Yamada's room,"

"7th-floor, room 753."

"Thank you, miss." They headed towards the lift and went up.

Iruka felt guilt wash over her. Dad's going to get angry at me for not helping. I was supposed to help. That's why he's here. I didn't save him.

"Hey Whiskers you good? You're vibrating like a phone." Katsuki asked, nudging her shoulder slightly. She didn't realise she was shaking until Katsuki pointed it out.

"F-fine, fine." She didn't want to look at him in case she worried the others.

"Sure you are Whiskers." Katsuki grabbed Iruka's hand and squeezed hard, snapping her out of her thoughts.

They all headed towards the room and Iruka knocked on the door. "Papa it's us, we're coming in." She called out before entering. Shota had his hand and arms wrapped in bandages making him look like a mummy. The second Iruka saw him, she was on the verge of tears. It could've been the fact that her father was in the hospital looking like a mummy or the fact that she blamed herself for her dad being here in the first place.

"Hey hey kid-" Shota started, he felt rather useless just looking at his daughter bawling her eyes out on the floor and not being able to do pretty much anything.

"I'm sorry you're like this. I'm sorry I wasn't fast enough. I'm sorry I couldn't even-" Iruka stopped mid-sentence when she felt a familiar hand on her head.

"Hey kiddo, what happened at the USJ isn't your fault. Shota getting injured isn't your fault either. It was his choice and his job to protect you kiddos. You aren't responsible for what happened, no one is saying you are." Hizashi patted her head to calm her down.

"Ya and if anyone says otherwise I'll blow them to space," Katsuki said, earning a smack on the head by Mitsuki.

"Hizashi's right, it's my responsibility to take care of you, all of you. I signed up for this the second I signed up to be a hero and a teacher at UA." Shota sighed. He knew Iruka's mind could be filled with as many intrusive thoughts as there are stars in the sky.

"Hey, Iruka sweety why don't you show Shota what you got him," Inko suggested once Iruka calmed down. Somehow this made Iruka light up brighter than Denki's lightning bolts. She nodded and picked up the paper bag she brought and placed it on Shota's hospital bed.

"What's this for kiddo?" Shota asked.

"It's a get well soon gift. I know you aren't one to keep flowers so I got you something different." She took out the small plush from the bag and placed it in front of Shota since he couldn't hold it. "Papa wouldn't allow me to get another cat so I thought of the next best thing."

"That's adorable Little Listener. Though you're not wrong, I am not about to let you get another cat."

"Way to kill the mood old man," Katsuki commented.

"Uhh, I got you something too Uncle Shota," Izuku spoke up as he placed a bottle of rather fancy eye drops (Don't ask me what fancy eye drops are) in front of the bandaged man. "You mentioned during Christmas you'd kill for some of this and I think protecting us is pretty much the same thing so I got you a bottle."

"Izuku those are like a 10 000 Yen!" Iruka gasped, pretty much shocking everyone.

"Well Uncle Shota gets dry eye and I didn't know what else to get," Izuku mumbled nervously.

"Thanks a lot kiddo, I appreciate it but you shouldn't go wasting your money on eye drops." Shota tried his best to hide his shock. Damn this kid knows how to go overboard with everything.

"We were supposed to give gifts?!" Katsuki grumbled.

"Some grade A student you are." Mitsuki shot back, sending both of them in a heated argument. Everyone could only laugh at the two's antics.

For the next few hours, everyone talked about all sorts of random things. Of course, the adults talked about their jobs or whatever new thing they learned while the kids added their opinion where they could. Shota was never one for long conversations but if it was with the Midoriya's or the Bakugo's he had gotten well accustomed to it.

Once visiting hours were over everyone said their goodbyes to the couple and everyone went to the train station. Iruka followed Izuku and Inko home since that's where she'd be spending the next few nights until school started.

"Hey Iruka are you feeling ok?" Izuku asked as they laid on the futon.

"Ya, fine. well at least much better than I did this morning."

"Well you know if anything is bothering you me and Kacchan are always around."

"I know Izu I know. Thanks for that. Anyways good night."

"Night Iru."

I think that was a pretty well timed chapter update. Cough chapter 306 cough.

Ya I know this is another filler but sometimes you just need a breather before all hell breaks lose. (Don't worry nothing bad is gonna happen, yet)
