Three

The Agreste kingdom is breathtaking, much more grand and elaborate than my own. I hate myself so much for thinking such thoughts but I couldn't help it. Everyday I was able to walk around the Palace gardens inside the walls of the castle. But of course, I had to be accompanied by at least three guards.

The meals that they would serve me were mouthwatering and delicous. They even gave me new clothes daily and I was able to change out of my ragged, torn pants and blouse. Sometimes I even forgot that I was still a prisoner. A pet. A burden.

Right now I was wearing a red sun dress which was embroidered with the symbol of a moth on the front. It had lace sleeves and the ends of the dress was laced as well. Black dots sprinkled the fabric which made it seem more like a ladybug than a moth.

As I walked through the endless rose bushes and animal shaped shrubs, I couldn't help but notice a small figure looking down at the garden from one of the balconies. I tried squinting my eyes to get a better view of the mysterious person, but they suddenly disappeared.

I stood dumbfounded, still staring at the balcony. I could've sworn that the figure seemed like a cat-like human. I shrugged and kept on walking through the garden until it was time for me to return to my cell.

I take that back.

I didn't stay at a prison cell anymore. I was moved up into the palace in my own private room.

Yes. Let me empathize private room. It was on the second floor of the castle which had a balcony that looks over the palace garden. The inside had a queen size bed, decorated with red silk bedsheets and pillows. On the opposite side was my master bathroom with a shower and bathtub for me to choose. Don't forget, a whole walk in closet full of clothes.

'Is that tyrant trying to win my trust?'

My thoughts were interrupted by a knock on my door. I quickly opened it, revealing a tall, petite woman holding a tray of food. She had a single streak of red hair going down her blue bangs.

"Good Evening, Miss." She nodded then adjusted her glasses, "My name is Nathalie. Here is your dinner. If you need anything else, don't hesitate to pull the rope by your bed and ring for me." Handing me the tray, she nodded again before I tried to reply and walked away from the door.

I stood there shocked then finally closed the door. The food in the tray smelled wonderfully delicious, "Thanks." I said to no one in particular. But I didn't feel hungry, so I placed the tray on my nightstand and walked out on to the balcony.

It was a pretty warm night and I didn't need a robe to cover the red, silk nightgown the maids had provided. Taking off the pigtails in my hair, I let the blue strands fall lazily over my shoulders and let it catch into the wind. I stared out into the horizon, wondering, hoping, and praying that my people will me alright.

As the sun set, I couldn't help thinking how beautiful the view was. The sun casted rays of orange streaks across the skies, illuminating the white clouds and turning them into a fiery shade.

     "Breathtaking isn't it, Princess?"

I yelped in alarm and fell backwards, away from the railings. But before my back could touch the ground, I felt a strong pair of arms reach under me and supported my fall. I swiftly jumped away and turned around to see who surprised me all of a sudden.

When I turned to look I realized who it was. Smirking, I crossed my arms and glared, "Why, if it isn't Chat Noir, or should I say, Prince Adrien Agreste?"

He bowed respectfully and let his Miraculous fade off, which left him with a casual white flannel, and jeans, "Your Highness, Princess Marinette Dupain-Cheng." He resumed his posture and smiled, "I see you're enjoying your stay here? A prison cell is no place for lady, like yourself."

I scoffed, turning away from the blonde Prince, "You're probably behind this. Or maybe your father. Or, he sent you here to try and gain my trust and give up my kingdom."

"All of those statements are incorrect, except the part of me being behind all of this." He gestured to the balcony and my new room.

"You did all this?" I gasped in shock, "Why? I'm an enemy, you should be spitting at my feet and wanting me gone."

Adrien's smile faltered, "Not everyone here in the kingdom loathes the Dupain-Cheng's. I did this out of generosity and maybe... friendship?"

I laughed, but there was no humour found in it, "Definetly. Friends. Try harder than that, Agreste."

I felt him smirking behind me and he came to stand to my left side. He bent down and rested his arms on the railings, "Well, then if you won't accept my trust, let me prove it to you, someday."

Without knowing, he took my hand in his and kissed the top of it softly. Winking, he transformed back into Chat Noir and jumped off the balcony, disappearing in the dark night.
