"Die stupid squid! Die! Hehe!" I laughed as I punched the little squid plushy in the face. I was so excited. My birthday was coming up in four days, and then I would turn seven years old. I punched the squid in the face again and giggled.

Little did I know that when kids turned seven they were to be taken away from there parents forever. To be taken away to a science facility, and tested on.

4 days later

"Sky! Sky wake up!" I heard my mother whisper softly. I slowly fluttered my eyes open to see my mom crouching in front of me hold something on her hand. I immediately sat up as she cooed, "Happy birthday Sky!" I gasped and grinned ear to ear. "It's an amulet." She said putting it around my neck. It was really pretty. It was a purple gem rimmed with gold, or as I like to call it, Butter.

"Do you like it?" My mom asked. "Like it? I love it mom! Thank you!" I said hugging her tightly. "You're welcome sweetie. Now look on the back." She said pointing to the pendent. I flipped it over and there was something engraved on the back. It read:

Be kind and have courage. Remember to always see the good in people and in yourself.

I smiled up at her, and adjusted my sunglasses I always wore. "Now. Who wants some breakfast?" My mom asked cheerfully as she ruffled my hair. "Oh! I do!" I yelled as we went downstairs. "Then I'll make some pancakes. Do you want butter?" My mom asked as I raced into the kitchen and sat at the table. "Of course please! It wouldn't be a pancake without butter!" I giggled, as I licked my lips.

SMALL TIME SKIP

I finished the pancakes as I licked my fingers and wiped my mouth with my napkin. I smiled at my mom, but it quickly faded as I heard bagging on our front door. My mom's smile faded as her head turned towards the door. "Sky. Go upstairs." She whispered, shooing me away. I hopped off the stool and ran up the steps and into my bedroom. I closed the door and pushed up my sunglasses. I hurried to the corner in my room and grabbed my squid plushy, burying my face into it.

Mom

I shooed Sky upstairs and went over to the door. I unlocked it and opened it to four huge men standing in the doorway, barging inside. "We're looking for a Sky Adams." One of them said, crossing his arms. "I...um..." I stuttered. He smirked knowing that he was somewhere, "Where is he Mrs.Adams?" He asked innocently,"Check upstairs." "No, please. He's my only son." I pleaded. He pushed right past me going up the stairs.

Sky

I heard footsteps go up the stairs and I whimpered, hugging the plushy even tighter. My door burst open and two large men were in front of me, snickering. I yelped as they grabbed me by the arm and pulled me up, making me drop the soft plushy. "Mommy!" I yelled, struggling to get free of the mans grasp. I was yanked downstairs to see mommy held back by two other huge men. I tried to reach to her as she kept screaming my name. "Sky! Sky!" She cried as tears rolled down my face and hers. "Mommy! I love you!" I shouted before they dragged me out of the house. I saw a black van parked outside and a woman dressed in white, got out of the van. The men dragged me to the back and opened the doors. I screamed and kicked as I saw the woman pull out a long needle filled with clear liquid as they literally threw me into the back of the van. The lady hopped in with me and I backed into a corner, terrified. She inched towards me and she got close enough for her to inject the needle into my arm. I yelped in pain. Tears slid down my face as my vision started to cloud over, and I was left in darkness. I never saw my mother again...
