04 | rejection rejection

Nathaniel

A fucking bitch is what she is.

She has no right to talk to me that way. Who the hell does she think she is. I am the king of this country, she has to listen to me, do as I say.

Isn't that how this works? The powerful man orders someone to do something he wants and it just happens, in a snap.

All my life, people have always done what I asked, obeyed to whatever my said, hell even my parents pampered me to no ends, being an only child and all. I was basically given everything on a gold platter.

Ever since I came back to my home, everyone has worshipped the ground I walked on. Endless gifts, expensive parties thrown in my name, media attention and of course, girls.

I had asked the same question I asked Anastasia to a lot of people at the party held by my mom for me coming back.

Every single person, I mean every single one only said that I would be the best king for this country can have, some even went on to say that I could conquer the world. Ass kissers.

She was the only one who downright insulted me.

I won't lie, her words did sting, since she basically implied that I'll never be good enough, never be as good as my father. But they were true.

This was my father's home, the place he loved the most, that is exactly why he had such a connection with the people, with this place. Anastasia is right. I didn't grow up here. I haven't had the time to connect with my future country, and if I don't, I'm sure that I won't succeed in my rule.

Ruling this country is something that I am immensely passionate about, no matter how hard it gets. Sure, I don't know this place very well, but I've watched my father. I have always wanted to be the king, it runs in my veins, but working to achieve the title of the best is a hard journey. One I am willing to go through.

That's exactly why I need her help.

She knows this place.

And whether she likes it or not, she's going to help me with this.

Everyone waltzed around the huge ballroom, syncing their movements with the music playing, I swept my eyes across the room as I spotted her in the far corner talking to my cousin.

I pressed the glass of champagne on my lips and took a large sip. Adjusting my crisp white suit, I made my way towards them.

"Damien!" I gave him a side hug and patted his back with a wide smile. "Nate, my man!" He smiled at me. I turned towards her, my lips drawn into a sinister smirk. "Ana." I smirked and smiled, a little to widely.

I could see the annoyance in her facial features as she narrowed her eyes at me. She composed herself in just a second and put on a passive face and a wide, overly sweet smile.

"Nathaniel."

"How are you?"

"Fine. Thank you." She begrudgingly spat out. Damien looked between the two of us for a few moments then blew out a breath. "Pheww"

Both Anastasia and I looked at him with a face. He seemed oblivious to what he had done and looked at us with an innocent face.

Suddenly the music changed into a more calming tune as many pairs made their way onto the dance floor. The smooth music delved in the aura of the room as the pairs started to waltz. Suddenly a thought struck me.

I held out my hand in front of her.

"Dance with me."

"What? No." She said, making a face.

"Come on." I pushed my hand further.

"Yeah, Ana, dance with him." Damien teased her and she gave him a sharp glare, to which he just rolled his eyes, as if used to it.

"One dance won't hurt anyone." I said again. She shaked her head at me.

"Oh for gods sake." Damien muttered under his breath and rolled his and pushed Ana forward in my direction, as I instantly caught her, wrapping my arms around her waist, as she steadied herself.

Damien smirked at us while taking a sip of his champagne and started walking away from the two of us.

Ana huffed and stood up straight. I quickly grabbed her hand and led her to the dance floor. She didn't protest, but I could see the roll of her eyes she followed me.

Reaching the middle of the room, I turned her around so she was facing me, and smirked at her.

I grabbed her slender waist with one hand, her soft hand in the other and pulled her closer until I could smell her vanilla scent.

She kept an impassive face, as she joined my hand with hers and placed her other hand on my arm, as we started swaying with the rhythm of the music.

I won't lie.

Anastasia is gorgeous.

With her slim body, shiny skin and sharp face features, I am sure she can have any guy in this room. I stared at her up close, noticing her bright blue green eyes swirling with emotions, they were captivating, to say the least. We were still very close and I could smell the slight strawberry from her hair from her shampoo. Her hair looked soft and shiny, urging me to touch them.

Her flowy red dress fit her like second skin, showing off her curves. I couldn't help but take a peek at the cleavage shown due to the low V cut of her dress. Her long legs peeked out from the cut and they were fitted in black heels. I almost got hard at how good she looked.

"Will you stop staring?" She hissed at me, breaking me out of my trance. Avoiding the embarrassment, I just smirked at her.

"You know, my offer is still on the menu, you can still order." I said to her lowly, swaying out bodies together, as my hold on her waist tightened.

"Too bad I hate this restaurant." She immediately retorted back, her stubbornness reflecting in her eyes.

I couldn't help but let out a chuckle.

"Boy, you are stubborn."

"Thanks." She said dryly, looking behind me, at God knows who.

I looked behind me to see who she was staring at.

A guy, about my height, maybe a inch shorter, with a fairly good physique and blonde hair was looking back at Anastasia with wide eyes. She must have noticed me watching the guy as we faced each other again. I raised my eyebrows at her, as if asking 'who was that?'

She shaked her head and said, "Ex."

"Bad breakup?" I asked her, knowing the mess made by one myself. She just nodded, still no trace of emotion on her face.

My lips quirked up a little.

"Want a put on a show?" I whispered under her ear, as her head snapped at my direction at lightening speed.

But before she could say anything. I already dipped her down and twirled her around our position.

I noticed the glare she sent towards me as I brought her up against me and leaned in until my mouth was touching her ear.

"You may wanna wipe that glare off your eyes, I might get the impression you hate me, ma chérie."

"Asshole." She snapped at me but still went with the dance nonetheless.

I pushed our arms away from each other and brought her back close to me as we moved again. I twirled her around again, as her dress flowed around her.

The song ended as we stopped.

"Just take up the deal Anastasia." I said, as she started walking away from me.

"No I won't. I have no room in my life for illogical drama and spending time with you is like leaving the door wide open for that nonsense to come in my life."

She paused for a second then looked at me.

"I'm sorry, but I won't do it."

She walked away from me and made her way towards Damien, as they started talking in hushed tones. She let out a slight chuckle from something he had said and they both side eyed Ana's ex, no doubt judging the hell out of him.

I let out a breath.

No way is she not going to help.

I pushed my father's office door open, as I looked around his rather large study.

I pulled out my Macbook from the drawer and started thinking of ideas.

I am going to make a deal that Anastasia Laurent can never refuse.
