4: tests
Priscilla stopped howling after about five hours. And even then they had to give her a strong medicine that would make her sleep. And by 8 o' clock at night, her family was instructed to leave the hospital. Not for any reason in particular, but Dr. Jakson wanted to run some tests on Priscilla. And he wasn't sure Priscilla's family would let him.
Dr. Jakson came out of the elevator hesitantly. He looked around the hall to see if anyone was following him. The doberman nurse had gone for a bathroom break, so no one was in the hall.
What he was about to do could throw him in jail, or much worse, but he needed to know. Priscilla's fur had been growing back at a rapid pace, faster than was possible.
He walked down the hall, careful so his claws wouldn't click on the floor. He opened Priscilla's door, and found her curled up on the bed. A green, gooey liquid was put all over her skin and fur. Jakson made sure the door clicked shut before he approached her.
As he inspected her, he noticed her fur had grown half an inch. About as much as Conner's fur, but the final product of her's would be much longer.
At the computer, he typed in some commands , and a mechanical arm extended from the wall. Some tiny surgical scissors fipped out, and some vaugley-human "hands" flipped out as well.
Since the animals can't use their paws for much, the humans created the arms for them after they made the syrum.
The mechanical hand held out a lock of hair, and the scissors snipped it off. Jakson excidetly hopped off the chair and put the fur in his front coat pocket. The arm retracted, and he ran out the door.
He went to the lab, checking for other animals. He went to a touch pad on the wall and de-programmed the security cameras.
He waited till they drooped sadly before he put the passcode in for the lab. Jackson punched in every number with care, for if he didn't, alarms would flare if he got it wrong, even once.
When the door clicked open, relief flooded over him. He entered the lab, looking behind him and waiting for the door to close before he went any farther into the room.
It wasn't much; just some white counters and filed floor with the occasional microscope or electronic device.
Jackson fished the blond fur out of his pocket and put it under a DNA scanner. Hopefully, it would tell him more about why Priscilla's fur was growing back so fast and why Conner's turned red.
The scanner took about half an hour to scan and load. He kept looking around, cautious about his surroundings. When the scanner finished loading, he sprung up excitedly and read the screen.

DANGEROUS CHEMICALS/ SUBSTANCES: FUEGLIOSCIS
What? Fueglioscis was a new chemical discovered only a year ago, but the FRR had discovered it. If Conner or Priscilla were anywhere near that, the flesh on their bones would melt. The stuff was like liquid fire had made a child with acid and lava. But according to the scan, Fueglioscis was in Priscilla's fur now.
Jackson would have to test Conner to make sure the results were similar, but this information was now at top secret level. No one could know what he had discovered.
He put the fur in a zip lock bag, sealed it shut, then wrote on it with sharpie the date and Priscilla's name. He put a warning not to open it below the white box, shoved it in his pocket, then exited the lab. His shift was over, and he had ordered Chinese take out.
