Menace (Prinxiety)
(Hey everyone, if you haven't heard the song Menace by Crown the Empire, I highly recommend listening to it because it's not your typical love song that most people would want. It's also one of my favorite songs to listen to, so, yeah. Enjoy!)
Human AU! Punk!Roman and Pastel! Virgil (sorry, I really wanted to play with this)
Virgil walked down the bustling hallways of his high school, trying his best not to be knocked over by huge backpacks and elbows. He had his pastel blue headphones over his ears until a large boy in a leather jacket accidentally knocked into him, spilling the contents of his satchel out onto the floor. The crowd of highschoolers split to avoid tripping over the two boys that were now on the ground, one scared and one greatly irritated.
Virgil stammered out an apology quickly, realizing who he knocked into. "I-I am so s-sorry! I w-wasn't watching where I was going a-and-" Before he could finish, the boy in black and a septum piercing raised up his hand in a motion for him to stop, simply picking the pale boy's stuff that was on the ground and giving it to him. "Be more careful next time. Name's Roman, by the way. You're lucky it was me and not one of my peeps in the gang. But, to make it up to me, how about lunch, just the two of us?" Roman said, giving a smile that has snake bite piercings on his lower lip, offering a hand out to the shorter senior.
Virgil's mind was going a mile a second. The Roman Prince? The lead vocalist in the infamous band Crown of Jewels was speaking to him? Virgil looked up at the taller male when he was hoisted up and just gave a nod, not trusting his voice at the moment. "What's your name, sweetie? Or are you just not going to talk and I'm going to have to call you Angel?" Roman shamelessly flirted, making Virgil's face go to a nice shade of a darker pink than the blush that he put on earlier this morning.
"N-No, uh, my n-name's Vir-Virgil..." Virgil answered softly, putting his binders and spirals back into his satchel. "A-And, I would love to go to l-lunch with you..." He muttered, hiding his face behind his sketchbook that he always held in his arms, too anxious to put it in his bag with the fear that it might crumple the pages of the paperback book. "Ah, so he does speak~ Alright, Virgil, meet me in the parking lot behind the school, I'll be near the doors. See you later~" Roman gave off a wink and gave a prompt kiss to the back of Virgil's hand, running off to his next class.
Virgil stood there, staring after him, his feet wanting to follow after him, but, after a shake of his head, wandered off to his Calculus AB class.
~*Meanwhile with Roman*~
Roman sighed dreamily, the pastel boy still in his mind. He loved how his pastel purple hair framed his face in contrast to his own fiery red hair that was always slicked back from his eyes, aside from a few strands of hair that always happened to break out of the mousse that he regularly used. He absolutely loved how he dressed; a light blue long-sleeved sweater with pale yellow ripped jeans and black converse just really suited him.
This had inspired him to write a song, with the accompaniment of his lead scremo singer and lead guitarist, Logan, helping out with some of the lyrics that he'd be screaming. Roman had a really good feeling about this as he ignored his Econ teacher for the 2-hour block period to write his new song, already having a melody in mind. (I know, weird, but I actually go to a school that uses this system and I fucking hate and love it at the same time.)
~*Time-Skip to Lunch*~
Virgil hugged his sketchbook to his chest as he waited for the punk rock boy to come to the back of the school. To be honest, he was quite nervous as he was waiting for him, hoping that he wasn't stood up by Roman. That would just break his heart, seeing as he had a mini 'celebrity' crush on Roman, and wouldn't take this in the greatest mindset. Before he was caught up in his own thoughts, Roman came outside the doors, a pair of car keys in his hands and his backpack slung over his left shoulder. Virgil perked up and walked over to the 6'1" male, quietly asking, "Are you ready t-to go?"
Roman looked down at the 5'10" artist and gave off one of his signature smiles and gave a curt nod, walking off to his jet black hand-me-down minivan. "W-What did you have in m-mind to eat?" Virgil murmured, setting his bag by his feet and buckling himself in. "I was thinking about Panda or Subway, sound good?" Roman answered back, throwing his bag in the backseat and starting up the car after buckling in. "Yeah, sounds good," Virgil replied, giving himself a high-five mentally for not stuttering.
Roman turned on the radio, changing it to AUX immediately after hearing a Justin Bieber song, promptly playing one of his band songs to see Virgil's reaction alone. He glanced over to see Virgil smiling softly, bobbing his head and muttering the lyrics Two's Too Many that the band did.
Roman chuckled softly when Virgil did a headbang at the drop at the beginning of the song, which was pretty cute to watch. They soon arrived at the nearest Panda Express, and, with a ton of arguing from Virgil's side, Roman bought them both lunch, as an apology for dropping all his stuff this morning. Virgil sighed softly as he quietly ate his wok-fried shrimp and white rice, shifting a little awkwardly under the gaze of Roman. Roman hummed and took a sip of his water as he ate his super-greens with white rice since he's on a diet for his fitness that he does on the regular. (Ew.)
Roman brought out his pen and pad of paper, jotting down some more lyrics for the new song he wanted to make. He already made a chorus, it was just the case of making actual vocals between these points. Roman saw Virgil look away quickly when he looked up from his paper, chuckling softly at the shy antics that the shorter male had. "What's up, sweet cheeks, see something you like?" Roman flirted again, leaning his head into the palm of his hand, gazing at the blushing man in front of him. God, he was a sight for sore eyes for sure.
Virgil almost choked on his rice when Roman said that, and he slammed his fist into his chest to make sure he didn't. He coughed and spluttered out apologies one after another, until Roman put his finger up to his lips, shutting the pastel boy up pretty quickly. Virgil was a tad redder than Roman's dyed hair at this point, and just, hid his face in his hands. Roman smirked and said, "How about I invite you to one of my band rehearsals? Would you like that?"
Virgil's head shot up at that, having wide eyes, and smiling a little bit in excitement. "Y-You would really do that?" Virgil said, trying to contain his excitement in front of the punk man. "Yeah, you seem to be a big fan, seeing as how you knew one of the least known songs of the band. I'm sure you would keep it a secret and not invite anyone else, yeah?" Virgil nodded his head quickly at Roman's request, and a huge smile broke out on his face. Roman blushed at the sudden smile that Virgil gave him, and scratched the back of his neck, clearing his throat. "R-Right, our next practice is this Friday after school. I'll see you at the back of the school, yeah?" Roman asked, looking back at the pastel with more confidence now.
Virgil nodded, still smiling, and said, "Sounds like a plan!"
~*Time-Skip To Thursday After School*~
Virgil was at his friends, Patton's, house, freaking out to him about how much time he was spending with Roman since Tuesday. Roman has practically memorized Virgil's schedule and walks with him to every class, doesn't matter if he's across the school campus, he'll walk him to his next class. Patton is giggling at this point, realizing that the two opposite boys were both crushing on each other, with Virgil's 'celebrity' crush turning into an actual crush. Virgil was pacing his room in an oversized black Crown of Jewels sweater that Roman had made as a prototype for merchandise and gave to him as a gift. It was originally Roman's, but, he figured Virgil would like it.
Thinking of that, Virgil ducked his head into the neck of the sweater, smelling Roman's lingering scent on the sweater. Patton burst out in laughter, and fell off of the bed, giggling like a little maniac. Virgil blushed as red as a strawberry, and glared at his best friend, shouting out protests to Patton. "Oh my god, you are so in love with him!" Patton shouted, climbing back up on the bed, only to be pelted in the face with a pastel pink pillow, making him sputter in surprise. "I-It's nothing like that! Besides, he'd never like me in that way..." Virgil mumbled the last part sadly, sighing softly to himself.
Currently, with Roman, the punk boy was pacing his room with his bandmates, rambling on about how they were going to have a guest and had to be on their best behavior, and, most importantly, not talk about the new song, that Roman decided to call Menace, to the guest either. The drummer, Remy, was smirking up a storm, knowing exactly who Roman was talking about. Considering the fact that his twin brother, Patton, was best friends with the guest, he knew what was going on, but simply sipped on his Starbucks as he twirled a drumstick in his other hand.
Damien rolled his eyes, sticking his tongue with a piercing out at the taller male, saying, "Whatever, you can't control us, we could be playing the song and you wouldn't be singing the lyrics." Roman rolled his eyes at his sound and keyboard guy, replying back with a snarky attitude, "Yeah, yeah, like how you didn't want us to play a song in front of Remy but it happened anyway? Yeah, no." Damien blushed at this and rolled his eyes with a glare and a heavy blush creeping onto his cheeks while Remy chuckled at Roman's point.
"Whatever, Roman, can we just get to practice so Roman can play Menace tomorrow?" Logan had said, rolling his eyes at the banter between his bandmates, biting on a guitar pick that occasionally bumped into his spider bite piercings as he talked. Roman blushed furiously and threw a pencil at Logan, in which he swiftly dodged and picked up his bass guitar, giving a small chuckle. "Never going to hit me, and you know this Roman." Roman groaned at Logan and simply picked up his electric guitar, nodding towards Remy to start a tempo.
"1! 2! 1, 2, 3, go!"

Virgil waited at the back of the school, anxious as all holy hell. He was playing on his phone until Roman took it out of his hands, making the pastel male yelp at the sudden action. Virgil glared up at Roman playfully, attempting to grab his phone back, huffing out, "Roman, give me back my phone you tall smurf." Roman just laughed at that, giving Virgil his phone, saying, "That's all you got today?" "Well, yeah, don't want my invitation to your rehearsal to expire, right?"
Roman rolled his eyes and unlocked his car, saying, "It would never expire, even if I really wanted it to." Virgil blushed a bit and rolled his eyes, tossing his blue satchel into the back of Roman's car. "You seem excited, this is the most I've seen you smile in a very long time," Roman mentioned, glancing over to Virgil, blushing a bit as he noticed that Virgil is wearing a pastel pink lipstick today.
Virgil nodded his head shyly, saying, "Well, yeah, I get to see one of my favorite bands in rehearsal, of course I'd be excited!" Roman chuckled at this, and parked in front of a his house. He turned off the car and hopped out, walking quickly to the other side of the car and opened Virgil's car door, adding a small bow. "Your Highness~" Roman flirted, giving off a wink towards Virgil, noticing the pale blush that Virgil wore went darker.
Virgil scoffed, rolled his eyes and said, "You are such a dork." Roman snickered, and replied, "A dork is a whale penis!" Roman got a punch in his arm and a laugh from Virgil, who was obviously done with Roman's snarky remarks.
"Alright, let's go in, the band is waiting," Roman says, closing the car door, and grabbing his guitar. Virgil followed after, not forgetting to grab his satchel first, staring in awe at the huge house that Roman lived in. The house is a double decker, having a huge porch and a balcony that possibly led to a bedroom. The garage was fucking huge when Virgil walked in, saw Damien, and he immediately didn't want to be around. Damien was his ex in Freshman year, and he never wanted to be around that asshole again.
Roman waved to his band, and said, "Everyone, this is Virgil, Virgil, this is Remy, Damien and Logan." He pointed towards the people with their respective names, each giving a wave, or a 'sup' in Remy's case. Virgil waved back, and found a chair to sit in while the band set up. Virgil pulled out his sketch book and shading stumps, humming one of the bands songs to himself, finishing up a sketch of Roman.
Roman kept glancing over at Virgil, smiling softly to himself as he saw Virgil's tongue poking out as he concentrated on whatever sketch he was doing right now. All of a sudden, Roman heard the beginning strings for their new song 'Menace' that was played by Damien. Roman freaked out, but saw Logan nod at him as he began his part. Roman looked over at Virgil, who's eyes were sparkling, realizing that this was a new song. Roman sucked in a breath, and started singing his part in the song, eventually sinking into his mind that is passionate for music, singing his heart out.
Virgil watched as Roman sang, his heart beating faster as he continued watching, realizing that this is a new love song. It seems that they were still polishing the song, so Virgil figured it is a newer made song, intriguing him on who this new found love is. When Roman stopped singing, he looked whoever at Virgil, who looked speechless. Was it that obvious that it was the song is about him? Roman thought to himself, feeling worry envelop his entire chest.
"That was amazing! Is that a new song? Who was the inspiration, it's obviously a love song! Wait, I'm asking too many questions, sorry," Virgil started rambling, obviously loving the newest song that Roman had made. Roman's heart fluttered as he saw this new side of Virgil, and smiled softly to himself. "Actually, you were my inspiration Virgil," Roman mumbled, looking away and scratching the back of his head, chewing a bit on his snake bites.
Virgil stared at him, his heart pounding out of his chest. Did he hear him right? He was the inspiration? Virgil isn't stupid, it obviously means that Roman has feelings for him. And... he couldn't believe that his crush actually liked him back. Virgil got up from his seat, walking up to Roman until he was an arms length away from him. "Roman, can we talk somewhere private?" Virgil asked, glancing towards the other boys that were giggling in the background. "U-Uh, yeah, of course," Roman replied, grabbing Virgil's hand softly, bringing him up to his bedroom.
Once Roman closed the door, Virgil grabbed the front of Roman's jacket and pulled him into a kiss. Roman reciprocated, pushing Virgil up against a wall. Vigil pulled away, panting, and says, "Roman, I would follow you into your grave also. I love you, very much." Roman smiles wide as Virgil continued speaking, and pressed his forehead against Virgil's, rubbing noses against Virgil's (Eskimo kisses are so cute oml). "I love you too, my Angel."
