Logicality: Sincere (Part 2)

"Was I too harsh on him?" Patton asked, pacing back and forth. He was at his friend Virgil's house, talking about last night's incident. "I mean, did we read the situation wrong? I-"

"Patton," Virgil sighed, rubbing his temples. "How else are you supposed to read a situation like that?" The sleep deprived male sank onto the couch. "I don't know what else to tell you, except that he made a huge mistake. You shouldn't forgive him so easily. Remember where that's already gotten you two?"

Patton bit his lip, slowly sitting next to him. "I'm sorry. It's just..." He huffed. "I love him, okay? And I don't want to actually believe he would do something like this on purpose..." He leaned back on the sofa. "I don't know what to do, Virge."

His friend let out an exasperated sigh. "I don't either. But you'll work through this, I promise."

Without warning Patton pulled him into a hug. He hugged him back tightly. "It'll be alright," he murmured.

"Hopefully," the other replied, pulling away. Virgil gave him a sympathetic smile before getting up to answer the phone. Patton took off his glasses and started cleaning them. He glanced up at the sound of a cough.

"... It's for you," Virgil mumbled. Worry shined in his eyes. Confused, Patton slipped on his glasses and cautiously walked up to the phone. His friend handed in to him and hurried off. Slowly, he put the receiver to his ear. "Hello?"

   "Um, hey Patton."

He felt his breath hitch in his throat. "Er... Hi, Logan."

They fell silent for a while, not knowing exactly what to say. Logan cleared his throat on the other line.

"Do you think we could meet up somewhere to... Y'know, discuss what happened?" The intellectual asked awkwardly. Patton responded with no hesitation. "Where at?"

"The little coffee shop downtown. The Little Dipper, I believe."

He decided not to mention the fact that that was the place they had their first date. It was probably for the better. "What time?"

"At three, if that works with you," Logan murmured. Patton smiled, forgetting almost everything Virgil had said in the past five minutes. "Sounds good to me."

   "Alright. See you then."

"Why did you say yes?!" Virgil shrieked. "Was our conversation early forgotten about?"

"Maybe," Patton said quietly. The paler man threw his hands in the air. He held his head and sighed loudly. "You're lucky I have somewhere to be with Roman, so I can't stop you."

"Good," Patton stated. "Because I'm going to make things right."

Virgil rolled his eyes and shooed him with his free hand. "Go on before I change my mind."

It didn't take long for him to reach the little shop. He spotted Logan the moment he stepped inside. The reality of the situation finally dawned on him as he approached the booth.

"Patton," the other said calmly. He slid into the opposite seat. "Logan," he replied in the same calm tone.

The silence was deafening. Neither spoke a syllable for about ten minutes. Logan coughed.

"I'm sorry," he breathed. "What I did was stupid. Hell, I don't even know why I did it. You're an amazing person, Patton, and I don't want to hurt you."

"It's a little too late for that," he replied bitterly. Silence returned for a few more minutes.

"... I understand if you want nothing to do with me after this. I'm a horrible person. I shouldn't have done what I did. You probably don't even want my apology." Logan laughed dryly. "I'm not as smart as I claim to be, am I? Especially since I did something so fucking stupid, losing the one I love-"

"I do want you," Patton cut him off. "I want to forgive you and take you back, but I know it isn't that easy. This isn't something simple I can just brush off and be fine with." He took his glasses off again, cleaning them to avoid eye contact. "I wish it was. But one thing we can do is earn back each other's trust." He slipped his glasses back on, meeting Logan's eyes. "We can start over."

The more practical male paused, thinking it over. "I guess we could..." He reached across the table and grabbed Patton's hand, shaking it. "Salutations. The name's Logan."

He gave him a small smile. It wasn't much, but it was a start. "I'm Patton."
