Chapter Fifteen - Trip from hell
Harry and I were on the plane to America I sat with feet up and laid back in the first class seat. The only place with decent leg room. I glance over at my brother who was brooding as he looked out of the window.
"Look, I know me being here isn't ideal..." I began.
"Your practically eight months pregnant with twins. You should be at home right now, not babysitting me." he huffed and i take a sip of my juice.
"Babysitting you would be following you around to every engagement and watching you like a hawk. Besides you're the older of us two, you're babysitting me." he rolled his eyes "Really, Harry you've hand a good couple of months to reconcile with the fact that I'm coming." I struggled to lean over to grab my bag
"Anyone would think you loathe me or something. Oh bloody hell." I grumble then snap. Harry gets up and grabs my bag handing it to me "Thank you." I rub my face.
"Look, Harry." I take my book out "I know you don't want me here. I get that but I'm gong to be completely honest. I would rather be doing anything else. Hell, I would rather be in labour finally freeing my body of these two than on a trip I have no business being on. This is your thing , that even though I have huge amount of respect. I'm basically an outsider. Yet here is the thing. You fucked up." I shrug
"You did and this is the consequence. You get your heavily pregnant sister following around and keeping an eye on you so you don't do it again. As usual you act first think later and then get huffy when you get told off. You're getting to old for this shit and one day your gonna do something or say something that a simple sorry or a week with me can't fix. So for the love of all our fucking sanity use your brain." I went to try and read my book.
"It's easy for you, you're perfect. At everything."
"Oh fuck off." I scoff lowing my book
"You are, you are the perfect, sister, daughter, granddaughter, wife and soon to be mother. Everyone likes you, you do nothing wrong."
"That's not true. I do a lot wrong and I'm not perfect. Harry, can't you see this entire pregnancy has been horrible? It feels like every pre birth test you could get as a mother i've failed at or am being compared at. I'm miserable. I didn't even notice I was pregnant for two months and I was ignoring everything till i fainted. Then I can feel nothing but dread at being pregnant because i've barely gotten my life on track. I still feel like a kid myself. Mothers at this point would be feeling this nesting thing, getting everything ready, so excited. I have nightmares that i'm just gonna..." I get teary eyed
"I am being held up under both arms by Dad, Liam and Will who has his own child on the way. All to stop being from drowning in fear and pressure to be someone i'm not. I'm not perfect, I am a survivor, there is a difference." I turn away from him and dig into my bag for headphones and my phone so I can listen to music. For the remainder of the flight we didn't talk and i managed to get about a hour of sleep before changing before disembarking.
-----------------
I turn on the smile and charm where needed for the limited engagements that I attend with my brother. By his side I stood or walked respectfully though something told me it did little to help his mood. I removed my shoes as I walked into his hotel room trying to find out what was wrong. I gave a glance to James closing the door behind me.
"Will you please slowdown, I'm not the seven year old that can run after you right now." I sigh holding onto my shoes "What's the matter, brother?" I question.
"Oh nothing, just Perfect Aurora doing everything right. The crowds adore her all cheering for her. Look at her demurely cradling her stomach as she stands with her brother. This is my tour Aurora." he yelled at me
"Harry why are you shouting? You never shouted at me." he turned sharply glaring at me
"This is supposed to be my tour! I am the solider, not you. I am here to speak to the service men and women. Connect with them."
"And you did, you were great." I stepped forward to calm him down
"So why does everyone flock to you or constantly ask about you! You are nothing but a distraction, I am trying to do some real work" he stormed towards me
"Harry, no!"
-3rd Person-
Both the Prince and the Princess detail stood outside the floor of the royal siblings. Hearing the shouting that was going on. Anastasia bit her lip and tapped her blackberry nervously.
"Have they ever been like this before?" Ana asked James who glanced to her
"No." he simply answered as Harry's yelling got louder
"Shouldn't we do something? She shouldn't have to be in there when he's like this." Ana got worried for her boss. Having been with her for the past five years she had liked the Princess who always treated her with respect and others no matter what walk of life they came from. James just gave a apprehensive glance to the secretary.
"Harry, no!" Aurora squealed in fear and James who was holding the key card and put it against the reader and barged in.
"Protect the Princess!" he called entering. The first thing he saw was Aurora on the floor turned with one arm protecting her stomach and another trying to shield her face. In a matter of seconds she was surrounded. Anastasia also entered the room in front of Harry's security and saw her boss in a distressed state. Without a second thought she rushed over to her and wrapped he arms around the young pregnant woman.
Everything was silent and Harry stood there shocked, Anastasia briefly glanced at the prince and the guided the pregnant Princess out and to her room. Once Aurora was settled she came out of the room and glanced at James before storming off. James nodded to the others and followed the secretary.
"Look, I know that was distressing." he started
"Distressing?" she turned snipping at the security "That's the least of it, are you telling me you're not the least bit pissed. She's been your charge since her mothers passing, I did my research. He's out of control."
"He's also a Prince and her brother." she scoffed and took out her phone and scrolled through her contacts. "What are you doing?"
"What you should have done the moment she was out of that room." she glared "Mr Nye, I'm sorry for calling you but there's a situation." she stared at James who didn't stop her.
"Do you want the delicate version or the blatant truth? Very well, we believe that His Royal Highness was moments away from assaulting his pregnant sister." she stood firm even though inside she was freaking out. She explained what had happened. "He's here." she handed the phone over and James took it.
"Sir." Ana couldn't hear the other half of the conversation "I believe so sir, my witness to what has just happened and assessment before, during and after has me concerned."
"Yes, sir." he handed the phone back over. Ana listened to the instructions and nodded
"I will, goodbye." she hung up
----------
Mr Nye, drove to Clarence House where Charles and Camilla were, upon his arrival he was announced and gave his respective greeting to the royals.
"William what ever brings you this late?" Charles questioned and Mr Nye cleared his throat as he entered in further apprehensively.
"I've been made aware of a incident involving His Royal Highness Prince Harry and Her Royal Highness Princess Aurora." Charles silence the tv
"What kind of incident?" Charles questioned concerned and Mr Nye was not sure how to articulate it. "Out with it, are they hurt?"
"No, no. Not from what i am told. Neither is the Princess in labour." Charles let out a sigh of relief.
"Then what?" Mr Nye still struggled "Tell me."
"I've been informed that after their most recent engagement His Royal Highness' was said to have a bit of a temper, of which Her Royal highness took the main...brunt of. He was said to have screamed, shouted and was verbally cruel in general to his sister. During what was said to be a screaming match it has been reported that Her Royal Highness screamed in fear to stop. This prompted the response of her security team entering the Prince's room, bearing witness to the Princess, on the floor in the posture of defence of herself and her unborn children." A thick heavy silence hung in the air.
"Where is my daughter now?" Charles gulped and stood up and began pacing
"I'm told in her hotel room asleep. Her team intervened and escorted her out." he stopped and looked down to his wife for a moment then turned to his secretary.
"Have Dr Setchell check her over immediately and then I want her on the first flight back home. Have her husband and brother come here right now, and have it arranged that the meet her once she is back on the tarmac. Also request a meeting with the Queen first thing."
"And the Prince?"
"My first priority is the safety of my daughter, he will return as normal but I suspect that he will be requested to be seen by his grandmother. I will travel to Kensington for her arrival." Mr Nye nodded
"Right now." Mr Nye nodded
------
Anastasia had received a return call from London and jumped into action. She left her room and knocked on James door furiously. He opened up in a bit of a sleepy fog.
"What's going on?"
"Orders from London, Her Royal Highness is on the first available flight back home. After Dr Setchell checked her over." She rushed off as she rang for the doctor she then headed to the floor above.
"And the Prince?" James questioned
"Staying, her father wants her home and he wants it done right now, so you take care of your end and I'll do mine. Dr Setchell your needed." she knocked on the door. While still on the phone with the doctor "Ms Aurora. Its Ana." she called
"Come in." she mainly heard and Ana let herself in.
------
Aurora was checked over, one of her wrists were swollen so she was given a splint. But other than that she was fine and on the next flight back home. Harry didn't leave his room and was asleep when his sister was whisked out of the country and back to London. Since it was short notice only Aurora, Ana and James could catch a flight with everyone else having to take their original flight back home. William and Liam were waiting for her and she was lead to a private room away from the crowds. Then she was taken back home.
"Darling, you're all right?" Charles breathed a sigh of relief seeing his daughter enter the living room.
"I'm fine, Dad. There was no need to whisk me back. " she hugged her father after dropping her things to one side.
"There was every need." he assured her sitting down and examined her splitter wrist "We're seeing your grandmother first thing."
"Dad." Aurora whined
"No complaints, there you will explain in full what happened and we will get all of this sorted out."
"Can I at least get some more sleep, please I'm exhausted." they nodded and she headed into the bedroom. Later on after she slept all of them went to talk with the Queen where Aurora explained what happened. Aurora sat there shrunken after she finished explaining.
"He was just stressed, it was a packed schedule and it wasn't going how he thought it would." she tried to defend him. "I'm sure I was just over reacting."
"Roe, you were found on the floor terrified shielding our children and your arm out. You have a sprained wrist with a splint on it. Even I know what ran through your mind in that moment." Liam retorted holding onto her hand
"He's my brother, Liam. Surely he wouldn't."
"He already did, your 8 months pregnant with twins and he's both shouting at you and storming over aggressively, making you trip. You're lucky you just got a stolen arm and that the children weren't hurt." Will added "This is not a childish argument over who's turn it is. This is Harry yelling at you for something that was practically out of your control."
"Was it though?" she asked "I could have said no to the trip. I could have put my children first and gone on maternity leave when I should have. Granny would have understood wouldn't you?" she turned to her grandmother
"I agreed and I was still agreeable for months even though I knew Harry wasn't happy about it."
"Him not being happy about something and then verbally attacking his pregnant sister are two different things, my darling. Hindsight is a powerful thing. But the point still stands that even if for the briefest of moments, you thought your brother was going to do the worst. You were put in position that you should have been in. And he should learn to handle his emotions with more care. You are very delicate stage at the moment."
"I've spoken with Dr Setchell, you are back on bed rest until the birth. The rest of your pregnancy has to be as mundane and boring as possible."
-------
Back in America, Harry woke up and got himself ready for the day before his secretary Edward Fox was called upon while Harry was having breakfast.
"Ah, Edward. Has my sister surfaced yet? I want to apologise for my temper." Harry wondered having some coffee. Fox cleared his throat and harry looked up to him. "What?"
"Her Royal Highness is not here, sir." Harry scowled
"Not here? where else could she be , she can't just simply vanish she's a pregnant princess." he scoffed not catching on.
"Might I be frank with you sir?"
"Go on." Harry nodded to the request
"After yesterday's incident, your sisters safety and that of her unborn children were brought into question. Calls were made back to London and your father recalled her back home immediately, she left early last night. She will have been there for a number of hours." Harry sat back in his chair.
"Shit. Wait she didn't make the calls herself?"
"It is my knowledge they were made on her behalf by a concerned party."
"So she just left, what about me?"
"You have one day left of your tour of which you will return home and then at the earliest convince her majesty has...requested your presence." He rubbed his face
"Just how bad is it do you think."
"Bad." Harry took out his phone and tried calling his family but the calls were ignored, all accept William.
"What?" William answered
"Aurora's back home."
"She is." was the short and curt reply and there was a silence on the other end
"How is she?"
"Like you care, you know what enjoy the single spotlight you've been craving while I make sure our sister doesn't go into a early labour." William hung up and Harry shook his head.
--------
Harry returned back to the UK and got some sleep before going to see his grandmother. That came about quickly and he was now sat across from her as she finished off her work. There was another knock at the door and her equity entered
"His Royal Highness Prince Charles, Ma'am." the Queen nodded and her son entered giving his greeting. It was only then that she put her pen down and fixed her glasses
"I assume you're aware as to why we want to speak with you?" Elizabeth voiced and Harry glued a little and cleared his throat.
"The misunderstanding in America."
"Ha, the misunderstanding he says." Charles shook his head pouring himself a drink " Is that what you call verbally attacking your sister in her delicate state?"
"Charles please. We must keep a level head." His mother lightly scolded, even though she knew it would fall upon deaf ears. Everyone did, Charles struggled to keep a level and civil head in matters regarding his daughter. Though he claimed not to have or play favourites it was the worst kept secret between the siblings that Charles favoured his only daughter. Even if he tried and failed not to show it.
"I was stressed."
"Harry, tell me is there a reason you were...stressed?" Harry didn't answer "Is there anything that you wish to add to our knowledge of what happened. Maybe tell us from your point of view?" The Queen reasoned
"What's the point, you won't believe me. Not over Aurora."
"Contrary to your belief, your sister blames herself for your outburst." Charles intervened
"She does?"
"She believes that she should have said no to your grandmother, took her maternity leave from last week. That she antagonised you into making her feel fear for her safety and that of my grandchildren." Charles sat down "I feel different."
"Well she is Daddy's little girl."
"This has nothing to do with favouritism." The Queen brought her grandsons attention back to her "I asked her to accompany you, after your antics last time I thought her presence would both keep you in check and on track. Both you and William have been shown to be a lot more well behaved and calmer with her around. She was there to provide you with support and focus. Instead you scream and shout at her because she is well liked, or that she has more popularity than you.
Need I remind you that it was both you that requested and you that was requested to go overseas? This was your trip, with places, charities and moments catered and memorable to you. I don't know why or what sequestered your reaction but it was cruel and uncalled for not to mention borderline violent. It has no place here, pregnant or not she is your sister, your family, your blood. Even in her time of fear and unsettled times she still tried to defend you. It's shameful you are shameful." Harry lowered his head
"How is she? I tried to ask William before but he wasn't in a talking mood. I did try calling Liam but, i got ignored."
"On bed rest for the remainder of her pregnancy. I suggest you lay low for the time being, both of your siblings lives are in a state of change and you have done enough for the time being." Charles grumbled
