19 - ☯ Chat Noir ●

This chapter contains self-harm, suicidal thoughts, depression, and, of course, profanity.

A big part of this chapter is the above stuff. Please read at your own discretion.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

------

When school ended, Adrien rushed to transform in Chat Noir. Prior to his transformation properly finishing, he had already taken off to Marinette.

Marinette

----

Marinette stripped down to her underwear, minutes after arriving home. She hung up the costume on some hangers to dry, thinking logically. Next, Marinette lugged herself to her desk, picking up her sewing needle. I'm so worthless. She thought.

It felt so cliché to think like that, but she did anyways. She could still taste blood from her cut lip and took solace in the fact that she had bit her own lip, and that Chloe couldn't hit hard enough to do that.

She experimented, pressing the metal tool against her wrist. She wasn't able to cut the skin though, she was too frightened. Marinette pressed harder then, but stopped seconds before the needle punctured her skin. "What am I doing?" She said aloud, tears filling her eyes.

She let out a sob before clamping her hand down on her mouth. God, she thought, I can't even do this! I hate this! I hate my life - No! No, I hate myself. She thought, tears coming faster.

Suddenly anger overtook her and she wiped away her tears. She picked up the needle and pressed again. She couldn't do it. "Fine." She said, frustrated.

Picking up a pair of scissors, Marinette placed them against her skin. "No! I can't!" She said, putting the scissors down.

Marinette absently noted the time and realized she'd been sitting there longer than she thought. School would be let out at this time. Mustering up more courage, Marinette placed the scissors back against her skin. No, I shouldn't do this. It's not worth it. Maybe some other time. She thought to herself. Marinette was just about to move the scissors away when a voice cut through. "MARINETTE!" Chat Noir yelled, throwing Marinette's balcony doors open.

With a gasp, Marinette's hand slipped and she cut across her wrist slightly. At the sight of blood, Chat's heart lurched. "Shit." Marinette said, looking at the gash. It wasn't big, mostly just a long scrape.

"Put the scissors down!" Chat commanded.

"What the hell are-" Marinette turned around and looked at Chat.

"Marinette-!"

"I wasn't going to." Marinette said quietly.

"But you did, Marinette!" Chat yelled, pointing.

"I didn't, idiot! You scared me when you jumped through the fucking door!" Marinette yelled back.

"Why would you even consider that?" Chat slammed Marinette's door shut.

"Because I need someone to save me! I need someone to notice, I need someone to help! I'm all alone, and the only person even remotely close to being my friend is someone who sees me as a hobby! A fun thing to do when they're bored!" Marinette yelled.

"You're not a hobby!" He yelled back.

"You're amazing and sweet and incredible! Do you understand? You're not a hobby!"

"Then why do I fell like one?" Marinette let out a sob, emotions getting the best of her.

"Marinette! I can't get through a single day without wanting to- no, needing to see you! Do you understand me?" Chat stepped closer to Marinette.

Marinette didn't have any retorts. "Marinette..." Chat's voice lowered, both of them breathing heavily.

"I need someone to save me, Chat." Marinette's voice came out quietly.

"Marinette," Chat collapsed on the floor next to Marinette, "I will."

His long arms snaked around her waist. Marinette's tears fell faster and she slid off her chair, landing in Chat's lap. "Shh, It's okay." He said, running his fingers through her wet hair.

"Chat, do you know what she did to me? How is it going to be okay?" Marinette asked, hiccuping.

"Shh, I know. Let it out. Let me in. What can I do, Princess?" Chat asked, pulling back to look at Marinette's face.

"Stay here." She said, placing an arm around his shoulder.

She hoisted herself further up and placed her forehead in the crook of his neck. Chat kept an arm around Marinette's waist, the other beneath her leg to keep her where she was. After a minute, Marinette piped up. "My arm. Chat, it hurts." She whispered.

Chat wordlessly picked Marinette up and placed on her bathroom counter. He took her arm tenderly and examined it. Without asking, Chat leaned down and searched in Marinette's bathroom cupboard for a first aid kit. He found it and set it on the counter. "Thanks. I can fix it." Marinette insisted.

"You fix yourself too much. Let someone else fix you for once." Chat said, touching Marinette's chin with his finger.

"What would you know about that?" Marinette muttered, looking down again.

"More than you think." Chat whispered back, pulling out some antiseptic.

"This'll sting. Just means I care." Chat said.

Marinette nodded. Chat took the solution, poured it on some gauze, and wiped down Marinette's cut. She didn't move, so he assumed she was tolerating the pain. My poor Marinette... Chat thought. Grabbing a new strip of gauze, he wrapped it around Marinette's wrist. He secured it and looked up into Marinette's eyes. "All better, see?" He said.

"Thank you." Marinette said, hugging Chat around the neck.

He lifted her again and carried her back into her room. Marinette leaned forward and kissed Chat's cheek, thanking him. His Miraculous beeped, leaving three more. "Marinette, you're shivering!" Chat exclaimed suddenly.

He finally took into account that Marinette was only in her underwear, extremely pale in comparison to normally. "I'm not cold." Marinette complained as Chat wrapped her in a blanket.

Chat then promptly pulled Marinette into his lap, cradling her tightly. "Thanks, Chat." Marinette snuggled closer to him.

"Hey Mari, didn't you have a costume hanging in the bathroom?" Chat asked.

"Oh, yeah?" Marinette said, remembering the outfit.

"Well, it's Halloween.... Maybe you and I could go trick-or-treating?" Chat suggested.

Marinette's eyes lit up. She loved trick-or-treating. She went every year. "Yes!" She said, jumping in Chat's lap.

"Okay, okay, calm down." He said, laughing.

"But my costume's all soaked." Marinette's lower lip jutted out slightly.

"I'll see what I can do." He winked at her, putting her down.

Chat reached for a space heater and placed it next to Marinette. He disappeared into the bathroom, and Marinette could see a green flash. "I've de-transformed, do not come in, Princess." Adrien said.

Marinette drowsily answered before turning over and closing her eyes. How lucky she was to have Chat. Shortly, Marinette fell asleep.

AN

YEAH! THREE CHAPTERS! I HONESTLY CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE.

So, tell me. Do we want a happy ending or a sadder ending that leads to a sequel?

The sequel will mean there will be a break between the two books (one week to latest one month.). So yes, this does mean the end is coming soon. I'mma estimate 2-5 more chapters.

So please help with the above decision-tanku very much.
