Snow inhaled and exhaled and sat in the clearing. She finally allowed herself to cry with silent sobs. She pulled the ribbon she had tied around her neck of and held it in her hands. As if things couldn't get worse a bird flew over mistook her ribbon for a worm and flew off with it.

"HEY STOP!" Snow yelled chasing after the bird her luck continued to be non-existent as she tripped over a branch and fell Infront a cabin. The bird dropped the ribbon Infront of her as Snow sat on her knees, dirty, tired and scared not for herself but for Hunter.

Not knowing what to do she knocked on the door but there was no answer. Giving up she slipped to her knees once more and fall asleep at the cabin door.

"Who's this?"  Snow heard a voice say.

"Maybe a traveler?" She heard another say.

"No her clothes are to fancy" one commented.

Snow blinked her eyes opened and looked around to see a bunch of short men with pointy ears staring at her curiously.  Snow jumped back, and stood tall looking from side to side trying to keep an eye on each of the men.

"Don't fret young maiden, we mean you no harm but could you explain why you are outside my and my brothers cabin?" The eldest and kindest looking one said.

"My name is Snow-white" she said slowly "my stepmother drove me out of my home and I can't go back" I said in the polite way she had been taught to speak in.

"Snow-white? As in the princess?" A younger looking short man asked.  Snow bit her lip, she had no reason to lie if her name didn't give it away her face soon would especially after washing her face. Snow nodded her head sadly.

"I always knew that queen was trouble" A grumpy looking short man said, "a dwarfs instinct is never wrong".  Snows eyes widened "I'm sorry but did you say Dwarf?" she asked bewildered . All the men nodded. "Well of course we are isn't it obvious?" the  grumpy Dwarf replied.

"Please excuse my little brother Fibil, he has a temper, My name in Yodon" The eldest Dwarf replied, "princess please accept my invite to stay at out home until you can make a plan for your future. I can get a man to help you get to the neighboring kingdom from here if you can wait a week." Yodon told her, "I can give you till evening to think it over" Snow smiled and thanked Yodon for his kindness as he let her into his house.

Snow had changed into a white nightgown that one of the Dwarfs whose name she learned to be was Craig had made. The craftsmen ship was so nice it put her stepmothers tailor to shame. 

"Do you like the dress?" Craig asked her. Snow nodded with a smile, "it's quite lovely thank you" she said handing him her gold earring as payment and plopping it in his hand after he tried to refuse. 

Snow understood that she was practically staying in a house with seven strange short old men who called themselves Dwarfs while on the run from her stepmother while having no idea what to do next, but she really had no other choice. With that though in her mind she fell asleep hoping that everything would be ok and that she would be able to survive the week until the carriage arrived.

Snow was told that the Dwarfs would leave early the next morning for the mines and to be careful when answering the door as she was the first to arrive at their cabin for months. So you could only imagine her surprise when she heard a knock on the door.

Cautiously she walked towards the door and kept the chain lock open as she peeked through. "Can I help you" she spoke softly but firmly. There was a young woman at the door standing brightly.

"Hello young maiden I'm selling dresses I was wondering if anyone would like to buy one.  The woman said bright tone giving her an eerie smile.  "I'm afraid I have no money" Snow said trying to polite but there was a feeling of uneasiness that the woman gave off, a very familiar one at that. "Oh that's quite alright I have many corsets that I've been dying to see on someone would you please do my a favor and try it please."

"I-um ok but just one and again I will not be able to make a purchase" Snow told her. The woman nodded and entered the house.
