o. the ginger crew
THE BURROW SEEMED VERY INVITING AND HOMY TO IVY THOUGH SHE WAS SURE THAT SOME WOULD DISAGREE. She found the place very warm and in general she was very welcomed. However, she felt extremely awkward when it came to actually meeting the family. Upon her arrival, she had noticed many differences to that of her own home – the main thing being the amount of people.
Ivy was very used to having a place where she could spend time alone; it was usually her and her mother when her dad was away on missions. Even at her grandmother's, there were many times in the large manor where Ivy was in solitude. The Burrow was a sharp contrast to her family but she couldn't find herself complaining.
"Bloody hell," One of Percy's siblings called out. "Percy's got a girlfriend."
Their mother, to whom Ivy had been introduced to immediately, was quick to whip him lightly with a towel and scold him. "Ronald Weasley! We do not use that language at home."
"Yes mum." Ronald, Ivy now knew, responded though as soon as her back was turned he just rolled his eyes and shrugged.
"Mummy, Fred's stolen my teddy bear again!" A small girl who, to Ivy, looked like she couldn't be older than 11, said, sending a nasty glare at one of the twins (Ivy honestly found herself feeling a similar emotion from the twins).
Mrs Weasley pointed to one of the twins and gave them a look. "Fred you give her back her bear right now."
"Oi, I'm not Fred – he is!"
"Oh sorry George," She slowly turned back at 'George'. "Boys please we have a guest." Molly sent an apologetic look over to Ivy. "I'm sorry dear, we are a rowdy bunch."
"I- well it's okay." Ivy was speechless.
______________
Ivy found that the easiest way to be alone in a home full of rowdy children was to stay outside. Sometimes solitude was much better than being surrounded by people; that was something she had learnt from Luke Humphreys.
She had been waiting for something – anything at all – that told her that her two best friends were doing just fine. But she had gotten nothing. No letters, no weird visits — no contact at all. Ivy really didn't want to assume that her friends were splitting apart but she was unsure as to what the future held for the trio as is the saying 'all good things must come to an end'.
A voice interrupted her thoughts. "Ivy?"
"Hey." She tucked some hair behind her ear and patted the grass next to her.
"I apologise about my brothers." Percy said as he sat beside Ivy; she leaned into him. "They don't tend to understand what common sense and restraint is."
That made her laugh. "I'm just not used to being in a place where everyone seems so in touch with each other and energies just bounce off each other. I just feel out of place and Luke and Leo won't respond to my letters. I haven't heard from either of them at all." She paused for a moment. "I love being here with you, I do. It will just take me a day or two to get adjusted to being around so many unfamiliar faces. I just suppose it would be a lot easier to manage if my two best friends were talking to me."
"Hey, Ivy." Percy's voice was soft as he tilted her chin to face him. "I will always be here for you. They'll come around I know it. And as for my family, I'm still not used to them myself. I wouldn't have sprung this upon you if the twins hadn't told my mother about you." Percy smiled as he pushed back some stray hairs that had fallen on Ivy's face. "She couldn't wait to meet the girl that swept me off of my feet."
Ivy grinned, face flushing. "I wouldn't say swept; I'd say more like screamed into your life like a hurricane."
"But I love you all the same."
